In no particular order:

Voice masking
Misc mic noise
Whining
Lag
Kids acting tough.
Leetspeak
Stereotyping
References to my mum
The idea that not getting killed is more important that the flag/bomb/hostage etc.
Spawn campers
Dupers/glichers/cheaters
Snipers, who cant snipe for their life
Quitters
Winning team joiners

Also the above list pales in the light of my hatred towards 99.9% of the American players.
Have not found that 0.1% yet, but i'll keep looking.

So what I've learned from this thread so far is... if I'm going to get back into online gaming, I should probably skip the ones that let people speak to each other.

nah, for every mic-spamming idiot with an annoying voice and an obnoxious attitude there are thirty who prefer to game in silence and two who use the voice chat sensibly and for a reasonable purpose.

When someone's microphone is always turned on and sometimes causes a loud buzzing throughout the game or your forced to turn the head set/volume right down.

That and anyone who shouts 'Fag' at me.

true, but that doesn't mean you should stick in one place, either, especially in a game like CoD4. "Camping" in the CoD4 sense means the guys who've found a "sweet spot" they like and go back there time and time again. the best tactic is to find a spot, get one or two kills from there, then move on to a different spot so they can't figure out where you are.
I agree I find that while sniping staying in a position for a minute or two, getting a couple headshots and then moving on to a better spot works as a good tactic.

By camper I merely mean people who stay in a random spot on the map for the entire game and never move. It's especially frustrating when you're playing games like Sabotage where it's necessary for the entire team to move about in order to win.

Alright, I just read through the post and I feel I need to do this

>I'm sorry people from other countries who I might have insulted for you accent. I normally try to be friends with everyone and the only time I do insult people like you is either because I'm just trying to have a little fun with people or I'm on edge because of something that happened earlier.

>I'm sorry little kids who are actually cool. I always jump to conclusion because I tend to believe all little kids are annoying. If you played with the kids I play with, work at the place I work at (a movie theatre), or go to school with the people I go to school with, you'll come to the same conclusion.

>I'm sorry people who have just started to play game X. I assume, with most games, people would have played them by now or played a game that is simular to it. Most of the time I try to help people like you, but if we are losing, I tend to take it out on the person that has the least points, most deaths, etc.

I don't mean a lot of the things I say. So I'm sorry.

If you have Xbox Live, let me play with you. I am, or at least try to be that 0.1%. My username is my XBL account.

I really only play City of Heroes and Neverwinter Nights online, and the last time I played those were over a year ago. What annoys me has pretty much been said in the last few posts. I like to play online with people who actually keep the game fun. For example, I once had a game of Neverwinter Nights going with two other guys in my group that actually played the character they were playing. I know this sounds completely nerdy, but we all typed the way our characters talked and interacted with each other the way the characters actually would.(I would have My dark elf palidin get annoyed with our wild theif on the team and the halfling fighter would try to reconcile it. It was actual roleplaying for me, and it was probably one of the best videogame experiences that I have ever had. That is what I like in a online game.

I really liked the points you were making Gavaroc. Age doesn't matter to me too much when I play a game. (I'm still a kid. I'll be 17 in five days.) =-) You can have a 35 year-olg gamer that is just as annoying as the thirteen year olds that people complain about all the time.

Beggers, spammers, people trying to con you out of stuff, aim-botters.
My number one... stalkers. They want to be more than friends, they love you. You can block them on your friends list but they'll still find you even if they have to make a new character to check if you've been blocked (had to stop play quite a number of mmo to get away from them). My finance said its my fault for being so nice XD

People who don't have the decency to apologize for friendly fire. Especially those who instead complain that I got in their way.
Ah yes, the infamous "You stepped right into my fire!" argument. I'm sure it was an accident (most of the time), I've done it myself... but I don't have eyes in the back of my head. Please be aware of your team mates, especially if they are ahead of you. Being shot in the back, by a team mate, as I am passing through THE ONLY ROUTE... aaaaarrrgh!

And of course, always apologise.
