Burton is kind of bombing in my opinion. Alice was extremely boring. Edit: IMHO
He's remade these classic stories in dark form.
So which is next?
I say the Wizard of Oz.

haha, wouldn't suprise me. Wizard of Oz or something really vague... he might do a Charles Dickens book soon.

(the best part of Alice was when i realised the big monster had the same voice as Diz from Kingdom Hearts :p)

What on earth is bombing?

Also original poster you should have put "opinion, Alice" instead of a full stop

Anyway on topic, I don't know. I don't mind his films that much, Coraline was very good however Nightmare before Christmas was massively overrated both as a film and it terms of music

I agree, finding out Christopher Li is in a movie always adds enjoyment to it.

Everyone seems to view him as a creative genius but I don't really see it, I just tend to end up ignoring his movies whether I try to or not. Although I do want to see Alice in Wonderland.

He actually has been rumoured to film an Wizard of Oz remake. That was a while ago though; I'm not sure if its true or not.

Anyway, I hope he does something different for his next outing. I figure it's too much to ask for him to do something original so I'm gonna say that he should bring "The Little Prince" to life, or a Twain novel. Or "Great Expectations" by Dickens, since he loves his Victorian England so much.

EDIT: Grr... ninja'd by the first reply!

Coraline was directed by Henry Selick.

As was Nightmare. Burton is only the producer.

Huh no wonder it was good, wasn't made by Tim Burton

I wouldn't mind seeing his take on Wizard of Oz. I admit that he has a very formulaic style, but it usually works for me. I really enjoyed Alice, but I would hope for something original next time.

Yeah, Wizard of Oz looks like the perfect candidate for his repertoire.
So, which character do you think Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter will play this time?

Johnny would doubtless be the Scarecrow and become the lead, as usual.
And Carter would have to be the Wicked Witch. So she could also be a lead.

It's nice to know other people are starting to feel the same way as me, I hope he does something original as otherwise i'm just got going to bother seeing his movies anymore. I recently saw alice in wonderland and i'm actually glad i didn't have to sit in the cinema for it.

I nearly had a heart attack when rumours came out he was going to do 1984.

Burton, you stay the FUCK away from Orwell's stuff.

Suddenly things make sense again. I personally don't care what he does next, I probably won't watch it.

I don't know, I tend to like things with the Burton name on it, if only because he goes back to the darker meanings of fairy tales and doesn't stick with the modern version of it, which is watered down as all hell.

The worst part of Alice was that that monster had no more than ten lines.

Fair enough, I quite enjoyed it.

I think Burton has discovered that he can make scads of money working with Disney and making slighty less Burton-ey films that are still quite creative. It's kind of a shame, but also nice to see him make scads of money after being considered box office poison for nearly two decades.

I didn't really enjoy Nightmare Before Christmas, but I loved a lot of his other films. I have yet to see Alice, but I think I'd enjoy it (minus the 3D).

Wizard of Oz Tim Burton style could be good, but I guess we'll just have to see what happens...

I hope both play flying monkeys and no important roles. Though I guess if they played monkeys suddenly the whole story would revolve around them eating bananas and abducting mysterious creatures.

I love his original movies. He has to learn that not everything needs a gothified re-release. Batman was good, Charlie and Alice were shit.
