Burton is kind of bombing in my opinion. Alice was extremely boring. Edit: IMHO
He's remade these classic stories in dark form.
So which is next?
I say the Wizard of Oz.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he been signed to do Wizard of Oz?

I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed 9, but however, That is the only thing of his that I have liked sense nightmare before christmas. I also hated alice in wonderland. (the first batman movie he did was okay, the second was just too dark to be enjoyed.) I just think he is insane.

I actually don't think Tim Burton's a bad director. True, he has slipped a bit in recent years but regardless, the man behind Sleepy Hollow, Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Ed Wood, Big Fish, Sweeny Todd and of course Nightmare Before Christmas (producer not director) will still hold a place in my heart even if he has started to lose his touch.
Personally I would like to see Tim Burton once again be given a low budget and told to make a movie that is 'entirely his own' because I've noticed that he tends to be at his best when he is doing his own ideas his own way. Just my opinion anyway.
That said, he could stand to break the mold a little.

So maybe another stop motion story about ghouls and goblins, done with a low budget and free reign to be himself a bit, because I preferred him when he was a director not just a brand.

Given his current state of being I get the feeling any adaptation of beloved children's literature would be decimated by him. So maybe just a scale back into his old dark and crazy territory would be a good start.

He was only a producer on 9. I think he's really overrated and I hope he just retires soon.

He's long past his hey day. I say the late 80s, early 90s was when he was in his prime. Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Batman Returns, Nightmare Before Christmas. He hasn't had a streak like that since then. And I do believe he'll wind up making a Wizard of Oz remake. It just makes sense. Helena Bonham Carter will obviously be the Wicked Witch, but I wonder which character Johnny Depp would play? Tin Man, perhaps? Money's on the Wizard.

I didn't really enjoy Nightmare Before Christmas, but I loved a lot of his other films.
Common misconception is that Nightmare Before Christmas is actually one of his own movies.

It isn't.

He merely produced it yet for some reason, his name is plastered all over it.

I don't mind him, but like many film makers after a while even original visions grow stale when you make something similar for the 8th time.

from now on every time i hear about a new tim burton movie that has depp and carter in it, i will simply not watch it
Surely a Burton movie is, by definition "A Movie with Depp or Carter in it"?
not Charlie and the choclate factorye
carter was absent leaving Depp to make the film suck on his own
and he suceeded
EDIT: damn i need to read more carfully i missed th OR and thought it was an AND

hating him is really stupid. It's not like the original version dissapears affter Burton remakes it, you know.

Believe it or not, you can still see the original if you liked it more.

Jesus, I'm sick of this...

As far as im concerned, Tim Burton did really well with some of his older titles, such as Beetle Juice as an example. However, his cheap knock offs lately have destroyed the very fabric of time, space, and economy. TIM BURTON MUST DIE!... ok not really, but maybe someone should throw him into a psyciatric ward for good measure.

Burton was good when he was original (except Corpse Bride)
Nightmare before Christmas was damn good so was edward scissorhands
Mars Attacks! was a signifigant part of my childhood in that it Freaked me the fuck out
And that has value

but now he has to redo all these old stories that have already been done instead of returning to what he is good at
honestly i thought Alice in wonderland was his best work since Nighmare Before Christmas
and i wish that was saying much

never saw Sweeny Todd Dismemberment disturbs me
never saw BIg fish, Sleepy hollow, planet of the apes, Beetle juice ETC blah blah his other movies since Nightmare Before Christmas
if they are good id like to know

haha, wouldn't suprise me. Wizard of Oz or something really vague... he might do a Charles Dickens book soon.
I just imagined a Burton-directed adaptation of Bleak House, and for a long moment, every part of my body tried to murder every other part around it. I think parts of me are inside out.

Please, God, never let this happen Dickens.

This man needs to be stopped.
I am tired of Tim Burton destroying every work that I loved with some crappy musical with bells and whistles thrown on it.
Unless you grew up loving Sweeney Todd like no child's business, I can't recall the last time Burton did a musical.

Not to mention Johnny Depp...
At least Depp's a good actor. He could have cast Jaleel White in all his movies, or something.

If this movie is put into motion, there will be outcry, I can guarantee it.

*but seriously, I would hate to see this happen, I love the Wizard of Oz, ive grown up with it and Ive seen enough of what Tim Burton does.
Calm down you twit, it hasn't been.

And for that matter, what on earth are you talking about? You haven't referenced a single thing Burton has done that displeases you (besides the musical thing, which wasn't a valid point) besides being Tim Burton. I think it says something about our culture that we prefer the watered down, Bowlderized versions of stories to the original versions: Darker, but with a distinct purpose in its telling.
You sir, are flaming/trolling.
I find that tim Burton does make everything dark and sulky, I know remakes are supposed to somewhat different, but the tales he remakes are supposed to be happy and cheerful! *cue wizard of oz theme*, not dark and depressing while Burton works out his daddy issues in the movies.

can Tim burton come up with some new ideas? (yes I know he came up with a few) but, Be a good director and throw some originality in your movies instead beating a dead ****ing horse.

I think Tim Burton should do Judge Dredd. It would be weird and amusing.

There's nothing wrong with Burton, if you take one movie on it's own, but it's the same thing over and over.

I haven't seen Alice yet, but I want to. It seems, though, that the more hyped a movie is, the less I'm dying to see it. Alice, Avatar, etc. Meh, I'll get to the them sometime.

Anyways, I'd say Wizard of Oz too. I've heard rumors that that's what he's planning anyways. Otherwise, I can't really think of another classic that might be interesting to re-do.

But you know, Wizard of Oz, I'm not so sure about. Alice in Wonderland has been done soooo many times so people are used to remakes of it. But there is only ONE Wizard of Oz (well, and the sucky Return to Oz), so I'm not sure how well it'd go...

Everyone seems to view him as a creative genius but I don't really see it, I just tend to end up ignoring his movies whether I try to or not. Although I do want to see Alice in Wonderland.
no,don't. i saw it and i was very dissapointed.
it lacks anything concerning character development, atmosphere, story, intelligence, element of surprise or emotion.
it's like a fan made tribute to tim burton.

watch corpse bride or sweeny todd or sleepy hollow for better burton movies.
