It would be hilarious if Tim Burton tried to remake Freaks, as in the Tod Browning film. He'd ruin it with CGI and puppet effects, missing the point of the original utterly until his remake is direr than the Mariana Trench...

Seriously, I suspect that gothic nerd Burton has been aching to remake Freaks for a long time, knowing his Circus sensibility - he just has never said anything about it so far. Either that or maybe there are things even HE knows he can't touch.

Yeah, Wizard of Oz looks like the perfect candidate for his repertoire.
So, which character do you think Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter will play this time?

Johnny would doubtless be the Scarecrow and become the lead, as usual.
And Carter would have to be the Wicked Witch. So she could also be a lead.
Nope. Johnny Derp would be the "NOBODY SEES THE WIZARD!" guy. Or the one of the lolly pop guild guys. The scarecrow would be a cthulhu squid monster sleeping with the WWotW.

My brother loves this guy, I don't know why. Some of his movies are alright but he's not the greatest.

I nearly had a heart attack when rumours came out he was going to do 1984.

Burton, you stay the FUCK away from Orwell's stuff.
If you asked me to name a single book which couldn't translate to a film, I'd say 1984. The problem is that Burton would try too hard to make it visually dark and sinister, when this would detract from the real malevolence in the book, which is in the way people's minds are controlled. It just wouldn't work. There's also the fact that most of the concepts in it aren't spoken by the characters and would probably end up... narrated. Ugh.
