1. Mega Man 2: The game that really got me into gaming, epic soundtrack, extremely overpowered (and therefore awesome) metal blades, and EPIC SOUNDTRACK

2. Portal: As a pure gaming experience, it has no flaws. Just lacks in the replayability for me

3. Deus Ex: I just played it for the first time fairly recently, and for all the variation we see in the gaming story world, Deus Ex had alot of variety in it's actual mechanics and approach to level designs and boss battles (still the most original and unique final boss encounter I have seen to date).

Honorable Mentions
-Fallout 2 (you heard me)
-Kotor 2 (one had better story but two had much better gameplay)
-Half Life 2
-Colonization (old dos game similar to Civ)
-Thief 2
-...fine Halo (the first one only, they went down hill in quality ever since, and only for the LAN party multiplayer parties we used to have with it)

3 specific games? That's a hard one, do they necessarily need to be individual games? Whatever...

OT: Pokemon Gold and Silver
Zelda: Majora's Mask
Starcraft

Persona 4. Probably one of the few JRPGs that I genuinely enjoy to this very day.

Rome: Total War. The first game that got me hooked on strategy games, and the Total War series in general

Tetris. The very first game I EVER played, and the only game I've played for more than 10 years.

In no particular order:

Silent Hill 2 Played this game with my friend. The first one was good, but the improved graphics, controls, and just overall scariness, put it over the top. The little things like trying to open a locked door, walking away, and hearing the knob rattle from the other side... Terrifying. Also, Pyramid Head didn't hurt the fear factor at all.

Final Fantasy VIII I grew up with this game. I love it to death. Favourite Final Fantasy game of all time. I loved the story, the characters (screw you, Squall did have character development, although he did change a little abruptly at the end of Disc 3), and the Junction mechanic, while allowing an easy low-level playthrough, served me well once I got the hang of it. I love this game despite its faults.

God of War 3 I was never a big GoW fan (never played the first two :( ) but I decided to give this one a shot. I don't believe I have ever experienced 10 hours of such polished, cinematic gameplay before this game (save for maybe Uncharted 2). The sheer scale and epic-ness of this game is incredible, and the boss deaths are brutal and just plain awesome. Just when I think Kratos can't possibly kill somebody in a more extravagant fashion, he does. Amazing.

Honourable Mentions Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (I really wanted to put this on the list, but I had to fit FFVIII on there for the nostalgia), Black Ops (say what you want about the campaign, I thought it was the best of all the CoD games), Bioshock (this probably would have made it on the list if I didn't already know the big twist before playing it).

Also, keep in mind, I've just started Metal Gear Solid 4 today (I know, I'm late), so the standings may change, you never know.

Three games that (while not necessarily the best I've ever played but) stick with me and have probably defined my gaming career (if only for the vast amounts of time I sunk into them are):

3) GoldenEye 007
2) Pokemon (Blue & Gold versions)
1) Morrowind

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory for being the greatest stealth game ever (in my opinion) and for the fun innovative stuff outweigh the petty annoyances. Grand Theft Auto 4 for allowing me to practice radical chiropractic maneuvers from inside a speeding vehicle. Lastly, Age of Empires 2 for holding my attention for over two years, and being my first real video game.

Okay then. My top 3 games ever.
1. Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1. This game was just amazing. I was 8 when I played it and it blew my mind. The combat was amazing, the chocie was amazing, the story was deep as hell, the characters were awesome and it was, in my opinion, a perfect game.
2. Starcraft: Brood War. This is the first game I played for more than 8 hours straight. 'nuff said.
3. Kingdom Hearts. This is the game I got with my PS2 and, honestly, I couldnt have asked for a mor amazing game. Everything about it is awesome. If you haven't played it, go play it. It's amazing,

for me it would go(in no particular order)
1.Fallout 3
this game will be the end of me, and I'm sure of it, I have multiple characters, have explored about 2/3 of the games map, and even if New Vegas has a few things that improve on it(the iron sights, companion wheel, the companion base, more quest, etc.) I still come back to fall out 3 more often because it really captures that feel that your living in a post-apocalyptic hell-hole
2. time splitters 2&future perfect
I couldn't pick between just one of these, I mean come on, both offer pretty freaking awesome multiplayer, a level editor to make your own(you could create a basic death match level in one sitting)
3.mercenaries 1
this game was hundreds of times better than it's crap sequel, the games bread and butter was either completing missions for random factions(most of which were at war with one another, so you had to balance out their moods or risk losing good weapons/vehicles/air strikes) or hunting down "the deck of 52"(see, in this game, north korea threatened nuclear war, so the UN intervened and created a list of 52 of the NK's top generals, so you had to work with the various factions in the war torn country to gain intel on the bounties/support to call in the field) all in all, it was an interesting concept ruined by it's sequel, shame :(

Half-Life 2 - Just brilliant with the puzzles being balanced with action. The only downside to the game was Alyx. God I hated her.

Pokemon Gold/Silver - Spent over 100 hours on these games. Countless days as a child playing this.

Call of Duty 2 - My first FPS
