1. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
2. Spyro the Dragon
3. Banjo-Kazooie.

Before I got into RPG's and FPS's, I was quite the platformer nut.

Usually I play through a game once and then leave it forever. These games I have went back and played through again. So I must have liked them the most.

Thief: The Dark Project. Gold release. The sound in this game is still excellent today.
Escape Velocity Nova. Endlessly replayable, especially with mods.
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.

I feel compelled to mention Bomb Jack, Rick Dangerous and Dizzy as well. Back when I had my Atari. Many hours were lost playing them.

X-COM: UFO Defense
That one was an easy choice and it's probably the game I've had the most fun with. But it's also the game that has had me on the edge of my chair the most. I played it back in '94 or '95 and I've been coming back to it ever since. It's one of those games that just works. While the next two in the series were great as well, they didn't quite capture the feeling for me. And don't get me started of the pile of crap 2K Marin is doing right now.

Baldur's Gate 2
While other role playing games from that time has better stories or gameplay BG2 combines both in a way that is yet to be bested. Planescape Torment is great as well, but it doesn't have the flow and feeling that BG2 has. Today, 10 years later, I'm still looking for a role playing game to top BG2. I'm sometimes accused of dismissing newer games and not wanting anything to top this game. That's wrong. I want a game that tops it very much. That game would be incredibly good. Sadly, a very few has gotten close. Fallout, Planescape Torment and a few others have been close, but these days I've just about given up hope.
Role playing games have become a lot more tedious and shallow and even Bioware is going the wrong way about it. They still make good games but BG2, I suspect, will be their Magnum Opus, never to be bested.

Master of Orion 2
This one was a bit tricky. Part of me want to say Civilization 2 or Medieval Total War, but MoO2 just stands out more for me. I was but a lad when I played it and it sent shivers down my back when I faced of my galactic enemies and researched new ways of killing them. I started playing it in '96 I think and spend the next few years returning to it. Sadly I bought it on gog.com recently only to realise that I now suck at it. Games have gotten dumber indeed, and I've become too used to them. MoO2 just kicks my ass and confuses me. It's really the same problem I have playing I-War. Both games require a lot of attention and over the years I've become used to games not demanding anything from me. It saddens me. Some would argue that MoO is the better than MoO2. To them I say pah! Pifflewiffle!

Runners up: Freespace 2 for being the best space fighter game. TIE Fighter for being the best Star Wars game and the best space fighter, thus creating a cognitive dissonance in my brain. Half-Life for changing FPS games in a way none other have done. STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl for being the best FPS game since the original Half-Life and having the tenacity to kick my ass relentlessly. Thank you GSC. And finally Far Cry 2 for giving me a place to make my own stories, having the balls to mess up my gameplay just as things are going well, giving me malaria and being god damn gorgeous.

1. Lemmings (the original version) - Playing this with my dad at weekends is the earliest gaming memory I have, and I still play it on a regular basis. Also, it was originally developed by Rockstar, which it AWESOME!!!!

2. Golden Sun - First game I got for the Game Boy Advance, and the only Game Boy Advance game that I go back to constantly (apart from the sequel, The Lost Age)

3. Battlefield 2 - Bit of a contrast from the previous 2, as it isn't a childhood memory or the first of something. No, this game sticks out in my mind because of one online match I played, where my squad, essentially, ran in a circle around the map for the whole game, taking control points and killing all enemies in our way. I know it doesn't sound like much, but there was this sense of accomplishment and unity in the squad that I haven't felt since in an online FPS

1. Metal Gear Solid 3
This game changed my life. :) I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. xD I just couldn't put it down once I started playing it. I just loved the entire game. Plus I love Big Boss <3

2. Uncharted 2
I just had so much fun playing this game. :) And I can still go back and play it without getting bored. xD

3. Kingdom Hearts 2
Another one of those games where I couldn't put the controller down once I started to play. It just kept me interested from beginning to end.

Three games? First two are easy, third is very hard to pick.

1. Return to Castle Wolfenstein
My first FPS, indeed one of the first real games I played. I know a lot of it by heart.

2. Empire Earth
Not the first RTS I played (that would be Age of Empires), but I loved it. The availability of every epoch to play in, campaigns that draw you in with great storytelling and a number of unique civilizations coupled with the chance to make more just kept me coming back. Kicked off my interest in History as well, for which I am very thankful.

3. Morrowind
A lot of other games could be here (Rome: Total War, Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron 2, Freelancer, etc.) but I chose Morrowind because I'd just never seen anything like it. The scope was immense and the setting immersive. With mods the game only got better.

1. Mega Man 2: The game that really got me into gaming, epic soundtrack, extremely overpowered (and therefore awesome) metal blades, and EPIC SOUNDTRACK

2. Portal: As a pure gaming experience, it has no flaws. Just lacks in the replayability for me

3. Deus Ex: I just played it for the first time fairly recently, and for all the variation we see in the gaming story world, Deus Ex had alot of variety in it's actual mechanics and approach to level designs and boss battles (still the most original and unique final boss encounter I have seen to date).

Honorable Mentions
-Fallout 2 (you heard me)
-Kotor 2 (one had better story but two had much better gameplay)
-Half Life 2
-Colonization (old dos game similar to Civ)
-Thief 2
-...fine Halo (the first one only, they went down hill in quality ever since, and only for the LAN party multiplayer parties we used to have with it)

3 specific games? That's a hard one, do they necessarily need to be individual games? Whatever...

OT: Pokemon Gold and Silver
Zelda: Majora's Mask
Starcraft

Persona 4. Probably one of the few JRPGs that I genuinely enjoy to this very day.

Rome: Total War. The first game that got me hooked on strategy games, and the Total War series in general

Tetris. The very first game I EVER played, and the only game I've played for more than 10 years.

In no particular order:

Silent Hill 2 Played this game with my friend. The first one was good, but the improved graphics, controls, and just overall scariness, put it over the top. The little things like trying to open a locked door, walking away, and hearing the knob rattle from the other side... Terrifying. Also, Pyramid Head didn't hurt the fear factor at all.

Final Fantasy VIII I grew up with this game. I love it to death. Favourite Final Fantasy game of all time. I loved the story, the characters (screw you, Squall did have character development, although he did change a little abruptly at the end of Disc 3), and the Junction mechanic, while allowing an easy low-level playthrough, served me well once I got the hang of it. I love this game despite its faults.

God of War 3 I was never a big GoW fan (never played the first two :( ) but I decided to give this one a shot. I don't believe I have ever experienced 10 hours of such polished, cinematic gameplay before this game (save for maybe Uncharted 2). The sheer scale and epic-ness of this game is incredible, and the boss deaths are brutal and just plain awesome. Just when I think Kratos can't possibly kill somebody in a more extravagant fashion, he does. Amazing.

Honourable Mentions Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (I really wanted to put this on the list, but I had to fit FFVIII on there for the nostalgia), Black Ops (say what you want about the campaign, I thought it was the best of all the CoD games), Bioshock (this probably would have made it on the list if I didn't already know the big twist before playing it).

Also, keep in mind, I've just started Metal Gear Solid 4 today (I know, I'm late), so the standings may change, you never know.
