Ok this is one Nostalgia flick I DO NOT WANT A REMAKE OF. screw that im never gonna see the new one! it will forever tarnish the fond memories of the over the top original.

still thinks the best part was when Arnold pulled a random civilian as a meat shield, when he is suppose to be the good guy! XD
Why not? The guy was already shot up, if its the scene on the escalator you're referring to. Might as well put his dead meat to use.
agree but still hilarious to see that from a good guy

Fucking no!!!! Fuck you Len. Paul Verhoeven is a fucking god and it blasphemous to remake his film with some shitty director. What's next? Robocop? Showgirls?
Don't take away my Robocop! Although, I recently bought the trilogy so they'll never truly take it. This actually reminds me that I still need to see Total Recall. I know I'll love it just because of Arnie. What. A. Hero.

Due to the mention of the book, it's possible this won't necessarily be a direct copy of the original film and may stick closer to Dick's text instead. Whether it does or not, there's simply no way it'll be as cool as the first movie.
The original was so far removed from the book they're practically different stories. Nothing really happened in the book and consequently any film adaptation of this book would be horrific.

Hell, in the book he doesn't even go to Mars.

Hm. In spite of the fact that it will not be nearly as awesome as the original due to the lack of Ahnold, it would be nice to see how Total Recall's depiction of the future would stem from modern tastes, as opposed to the way the original looked, which was like a bad acid trip in a 1985 American dance club, or alternatively, a bad acid trip in a 1995 Canadian dance club.
Or, alternatively, a bad acid trip in a 1975 European dance club.
I don't know what the fashion and basic aesthetic tastes prevelent in 1970s European culture were, but I do know that was funny.

I hope it's closer to Philip K. Dick's original "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale"

PKD is my favorite sci-fi author, and Total Recall was missing a lot of key elements from the story.
