Trust me, if you watched the research stream it looked much, much worse. If anything, the WTF Is... video was going easy on the game. It was a glitchy, buggy mess, where the player would glitch through the walls and trees and rocks of the game; if you press the enter button to skip a conversation the game gets put into windowed mode and has to be rebooted in order to restore it to playable condition; if you attack something too fast in werewolf form the sound doubles, tripples and quadruples; the artstyle, which puts thick, black outlines around everything, makes it look like characters have pieces of their faces missing; the audio level fluctuates wildly between characters, with one character being barely audible without turning up the volume, and then the next character you talk to focres you to turn the sound down again or risk your eardrums...Windcaler said:Im actually not surprised this happened with youtubes automatic claims processing. Im going to be a voice of dissent though even though I usually watch TBs videos. From my point of view I watched the guise of the wolf video and TB tore it to shreds. However as I was watching the video I didnt think it was really that bad. Im not, nor will I ever be a graphics guy so I wont shy away from a game that looks bad (hell my favorite game is X-com enemy unknown (1993) so graphics dont mean a thing to me as long as theres good gameplay and/or an interesting story).
The stealth system was laughable but so is just about every games stealth mechanics. So what else was really bad about the game...um, nothing that I recall from the video. I have not bought the game and have no plans to, however I really do feel like TB was harder on the game then he really needed to be and I kept not understanding why. His criticisms, to me, didnt match up with much of what was shown in his video. Guise of the wolf, based on my limited video watching was not Gary's incident in awfulness and yet it seemed like he hammered it harder then Gary's incident.
Perhaps you need to watch the streamed videos to really get how bad Guise is but the one video I watched didnt tell me that the game was bad. It just said "this game is not for me"
That said, FUN is dead wrong for taking down the video. Any company that would censor criticism does not, nor will it ever, deserve consumers money. Even if their game turned out to be a diamond in excrement their actions have forever steered me away from them. I will always look at them with suspicion and distrust
Like TB himself said, it seems like the game is a student project, and fine, for a student project I guess it's not that bad, but it also isn't good enough to sell for $15 on Steam.
