With all the crap EA has done to the PC version...sure, why not.
64 players?

Much better graphics, effects and performance?

Etc?

Not a fan of Origin tho. Understatement really.
Actually there are servers that have up to 128 players.

Not sure operation metro is the best map for that but the big conquest maps should be. I'm not really a team death match fan but it could be pretty fun with 128 players. I'm sad though. The game took one look at my Nvidia 9500 graphics card and laughed in my face. So now I'm stuck on consoles until I can get the money for a new graphics card.

this is a really weird situation...where alot of people can win/win in it.

for one thing, battlefield 3's sales will be up, EA will get a ton of their "new" purchases, but then at the same time COD will also get a shit ton of sales due to the trade in value...

There are people who are going to play BF3 on a console?

Hah!
Look at it this way: Console gamers don't have to go to a fucking website or download Origin to play. And they get a server list inside the game.

this is what we Americans call a, fingerquote, "BURN!"

In all honesty though, Im a bit surprised why the offer isn't both ways, I mean what if Modern Warfare 3 sucks so bad that even fanboy's are despised by it?

....well, its obvious, they would just buy Halo Reach... again... or Gears 3
ah like this?

OT:

i might get BF 3, not sure yet, got skyrim and uncharted 3 already pre ordered so don't know if my wallet can handle anymore..

I feel sorry for anyone who would actually trade BF3 for MW3. That's just...ridiculous.

See what they are trying to do is ruin Battlefield 3 by injecting a horde of deathmatch addicted CoD players who only care about K/D ratios and don't play the objective.
Sorry you have that stick so far up your butt. If you've played Bad Company 2 you'd know that half the time your team sits back and snipes in wookie suits while only you go for the objective. At least in cod I dont have to spawn on those snipers and run five minutes to get to the objective.

Plus, isnt the fact that BF3 will be overrun with noobies mean youll have an easier time winning? Youll play strategically and they wont, giving you the upperhand.

Lastly, how about you calm down? Cod and Battlefield are video games! If someone pays 60 bucks for something theyre entitled to enjoy it how they will.

The interesting thing about this offer is that GS would only do this, if they thought they would still get the far better end of the deal.

Very low expectations for MW3?

Weirdly enough, I don't think this is a hilarious inept attempt to steal Battlefield 3 customers by MW3. If anything, this seems like a mutual agreement: it encourages MW3 players to buy Battlefield 3 by removing the financial penalty of having to pay for two games if they don't like it, and if they do like it, then they'll probably just buy MW3, too.

The only people who would either A) buy Battlefield 3 and then like it so much that they don't buy MW3 as they had originally planned or B) buy Battlefield 3 with the express intention of trading it in for MW3 seems negligible. I'm normally a massive cynic, but my economic-senses seem to be telling me that this is...a truce. A mutual agreement between two normally bitter rivals.

Maybe I'm reading this completely wrong. But maybe I'm not, and that possibility is somehow making me feel that much more optimistic about the true face of brand rivalry: behind all the comment wars and blanket flaming, it's still two demographics who enjoy military FPSs. It reminds me of how Catholics and Protestants, after centuries of often bloody conflict, finally came around and realized that they were fighting over which denomination of the same overall religion they followed.

It seems like a general human habit: we have the most bitter disputes with those who differ from us by only slight degrees. Despite being the two most 'hardcore' of the consoles, the Xbox and Playstation largely ignore the Wii and duke it out with each other.

Meh. Oh well. Only time will tell if I'm right or completely wrong. Either way, I think I'll get both. I've been saving my paychecks for a while, and I can comfortably do that without neglecting Skyrim.

I'm glad to see that someone else remembers that more than 2 games are coming out in November.

Wait... is there something wrong with my logic?

You BUY BF3... IT sucks. You BUY MW 3. You GIVE them BF3 (which you paid for full price) and they REFUND you the money you spent on MW3. Minus a dollar.

Where the hell am I saving? I'm not only buying ONE game, I'm buying 2. All they are doing is giving me a FULL refund instead of a trade in price.

How is that a deal or special? I'm almost convinced I'm getting boned somewhere..

Ultimately I'm just buying both games new because...

... because...

Oh. Right.

That ONLINE Pass thing. Ahhhh Now I see what you're doing Gamestop you slick little scamp... You know Battlefield 3 isn't going to resell much since the whole ONLINE pass system bones used buyers.

Nice. Now I like Gamestop even LESS.

Wait a minute... Gamestop are offering this promotion to people in the UK... when we don't even have Gamestop over here? o_O

I'm sick to the back teeth of these gritty military shooters and I shall not be buying either of them. So there.

Assassin's Creed Revelations, Uncharted 3 and Skyrim will keep me more than occupied throughout November... and probably untill this time next year!

Trade In Battlefield 3 And Get Modern Warfare 3 For 99p

Gamestop is capitalizing on the Call of Duty/Battlefield rivalry with a cheeky trade-in promotion.

Assuming you're over eighteen and currently living in the UK, all you have to do to be eligible for the promotion is buy Battlefield 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-3-Limited-Pc/dp/B002I0HJZO] from Gamestop's online store [http://www.gamestop.co.uk/mw3for99p] before midnight October 27th, then buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Modern-Warfare-Xbox-360/dp/B00503E8S2/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1319172549&sr=1-1] before midnight on November the 7th. Should Battlefield 3 fail to live up to your expectations, you can return it at any time up until November 18th and Gamestop will refund the money you spent on Modern Warfare 3, sans 99p.

What if you don't like Modern Warfare 3? Well, you're stuck. The deal doesn't work the other way around. Oh, and you PC gamers are out of luck too.

The promotion actually works out in Battlefield's favor. Regardless of the two shooters' endlessly-debated respective qualities, Call of Duty is a clear leader in terms of sales by quite a large margin. The promotion encourages the vast hordes of Call of Duty fans, many of which are not traditional gamers, to take a chance on the Battlefield franchise without the prospect of financial loss. This may produce some converts, or, and keep in mind this is merely wild speculation, there might be some who purchase and enjoy both games. It also allows for all kind of doubtlessly witty quips about how 99p for Modern Warfare 3 is still too expensive. What fun.

Another person confusing EA with DICE.
No, no I don't confuse EA with DICE. You're arguing over the PC version being 'not worth it' somehow, because of Origin. Origin does suck, but it still stands that the PC version is superior with 64 players (you can even 'hack' for 128) and other features.

Playing BF3 on console would be... strange.. for me.

Next time just do it with Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 3.
If Dragon Age 3 s*cked you can pay 1 for the other.

No, it won't happen,
a) It's not considered an FPS, so it will sell like hot cakes.
b) They are from the same gaming developer. Arghhhh!

99 Pounds?

I may not understand non-American currencies very well, but I'm pretty sure that's worth more than both games combined.

So... buy BF3... and if you don't like it... we'll let you pay 99p more for MW3, then they sell all the used copies of BF3 for massive profit...

Perfect...

You do not get what you paid for returns. If you open the case it counts as used and you get less than half what the game costed at least in the U.S. anyway.
Buy it at the UK version of WalMart. Full refund.

Here's a thought. Buy Battlefield 3, return it, get MW3, you now have all your money back. Then, go buy Battlefield 3 again. So, you got MW3 for 99p, and you already bought Battlefield.
You have 2 items that both cost 60ollars. You buy one for 60 dollars. Then trade it in to get the other for 61.50, then buy the first one you purchased for... what... 58 used?

So you spend 119.50 rather than 120. Lot of effort to save 50 cents.

Edit:

Damn... did everyone go for dinner? I expected people to be posting behind me as I caught up on the thread... I should have just complied all the things I wanted to quote rather than be a triple posting douche.

Google is failing me and saying 99p is roughly 156 USD, which is absurdly expensive for any game.

Please clarify.
.99 UK£ = 1.565091 U.S. dollars

// Ninja'd. TWICE. What is this.

Actually, am I the only one who isn't bothered by Origin? Or Battlelog?
No, you are not the only one. Origin is not much different than Steam, and Battlelog works fine (better than the server browser BFBC2 launched with).
