Why would you buy Battlefield on a console if you had the option to play it on PC??? Even if you do have to put up with origin, you are getting Battlefield as it was intended, not some watered down console pants.

At first I was opposed to the no in game menus thing, but then I realized it just meant no splash screen on start up. Honestly Battlelog has produced no discernible difference to loading up into a game menu with server browser, except that I get to see tons of stat progression, and no that DICE has promised in game squad management, I have no problem with Battlelog, it actually seems really cool.

As for Origin, I didn't like it at first either, having an embarrassingly large Steam games list, I am a little in love with that distro system. But hearing all the gripe against Origin made me think one thing:

FOR all the complaining PC gamers, like me, do about shitty ports and devs not giving them enough love, they are sure quick to hate on anyone who does. I mean COME ON! EA takes this huge financial risk on PC gamers, and says, "Ok we trust you as a source of income, and respect you as a platform, we might not know you as well as Valve, but we'll give it a go" and PC gamers respond with a collective middle finger.

I never thought of PC gamers as quite so narrow minded or afraid of change as this. Frankly its embarrassing, show a little love and get a little love people.

So what stops one from doing this repeatedly to re-sell the DLC codes from Battlefield?

Also, you may as well get cozy with Origin if you are a die hard PC gamer, I guarantee it's going to be needed for Mass Effect 3 and Old Republic.

If i recall correctly they already said Origin will not be needed for ToR, with exception of digital distribution versions which are exclusive to Origin store, which is pretty much normal. ME3, probably yeah, but in the end what's the difference between game requiring Steamworks or Origin? It's same thing in the end.

There really isn't a difference beyond content. Granted I would rather not have another process running on my PC but I don't see it as a huge problem as some do. I do have to correct my earlier statement, I can't "guarantee" it will be needed for ToR since it isn't needed for the beta.

Sorry to disappoint you, Grey, but 99p is actually really cheap for an expansion pack.
Damn that aint right lol.

Still gonna get both most likely, MW3 to finish the story and BF3 for multi as the beta kicked major ass.

Look at it this way: Console gamers don't have to go to a fucking website or download Origin to play. And they get a server list inside the game.
Look at it this way: PC gamers can alt tab around other sites while they're waiting for a queue to a specific server and/or while their maps are loading up. I'm actually quite in favour of the Battlelog after trying it out, despite thinking I'd despise it before I saw it in action and realised the pros :)

Oh and Origin is as about much trouble as PSN/XBL/Steam so yeah, can't say I'm bothered, I don't mind Steam, why would I mind Origin, despite being a far lesser service in terms of what it offers, it doesn't actually harm me for it to run with my game the same way Steam does.

Also, there's the whole bonus of being able to target properly with a mouse, having 32/64 player servers (and possibly more if DICE gets cool with modded servers post-launch?) and enjoying better graphics settings if we've got the machine for it.

So yeah, enjoy the in game server list and no Origin - I'm happy with my end of the deal :)

Google is failing me and saying 99p is roughly 156 USD, which is absurdly expensive for any game.
Do you not remember Modern Warfare 2 in England?

O.T. And here I thought CoD wouldn't sink down the Battlefield's childish agitation game. A magnificent bastard move, sure, but childish nonetheless.

I can guarantee it isn't:
"While Origin will be the exclusive digital retailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic (in other words, if you want to buy it online and download it, you?ll do so through Origin) that does not mean that Origin is required for you to access or play The Old Republic.

You won?t need to launch the Origin application to run The Old Republic, nor will you patch the game via Origin. Once the game is on your hard disk, you?ll be connecting to our servers to patch and launch the game, and Origin does not have to be running to do that."

Touche.

Yeah, that's a hard one to refute.

Aw, jeez, here we go.

OT: Neat! Don't think flying to England to take advantage of this deal is very cost-effective, though.

Here's a thought. Buy Battlefield 3, return it, get MW3, you now have all your money back. Then, go buy Battlefield 3 again. So, you got MW3 for 99p, and you already bought Battlefield.

You will probably need an Origin account, but then again considering everyone who has played an EA game released in the last four years or so online has one, that doesn't seem to be a big problem.

Plus I'd wager by that point Battlefield 3 will be £30. After all, it's £35 now.

Origin account is just a name for an EA account now as they're merged. The real question is whether the download will be done through Origin or if there will be a website client link like for every other game.
