Still can not wait for this game, but not for the reasons shown here. However, that was pretty funny nonetheless.

Further proof that we don't know what's good for us... and what's not. People will buy this game specifically for the boobs-oriented male fan-service. And that's exactly what will be setting the industry back, pushing more ratings issues forward, and increasing the likelihood of regulation that could bleed the life out of game development.

hell, if i can sneak it past my parents, it'll be for the retro gameplay and over-the-top dukeness more than anything else.
but i doubt the boobs will hurt sales though...

Doesn't that kind of prove they don't need to go so over-the-top to objectify every single woman we've seen connected to the game so far? The game should be fun enough to stand on its own.

Like I said above, it'd be like a white comedian dropping a joke that is racist toward non-whites to get the white people in the audience laughing. Yeah, half of them will, but the other half will find it appalling... and the non-white folks in the audience will be furious, and rightfully so. We turn it to racism, suddenly it's not funny... but the man-children making games like this turn it to sexism, and people give it the thumbs-up.

They know full well that they're being sexist and are gonna stir the pot and I feel like that was the plan all along. It's the only hope of redemption, but the marketing has been so saturated with the opposite that the entire point would be lost. The only people to see that ending would be the ones that bought it for the boobs. Everyone else would only get to see the side people are calling "ironic" sexism.

It's not "ironic" if the audience isn't shown the rest of the picture.

Because to be genuinely sexist there'd have to be an actual attitude toward women rather than marketing monkeys waving red flags around to generate fake controversy and free publicity? Sexism? Of the puerile variety maybe. Cynicism? In abundance.

Also, that trailer was kind of worthless. It wasn't particularly funny, it didn't tell me anything about the game other then "It's got tits" which I already knew, and...Well, that' it. Not funny, not informative, not particularly cool....Just kind of worthless.

It reminded me of how much I liked Duke 3D...when I was 8-12. I've enjoyed most of the trailers up until now but this kind of... well...meh. There's a difference between satire and sinking to their level. It joins the very very short list of games I would be embarrassed to be seen playing. And I play Reccetear.

Despite all the attention at the time, the girls/strippers really weren't a big part of the original Duke 3D, especially after the first 2 levels. The Plutonium Pak added things like Babes in Toyland, but on balance the sexism thing was kinda overplayed. That trailer isn't ironic, or knowing, or self-referential, or any other half-ass hipster word: it's just someone switching their marketing plan to Boobs Mode. Not sure I'm interested in the game as much any more.
