Alright, since I'm a Twitch hog I'll watch it though I will preface that the "gender-trash" thing can go to the garbage (where it belongs... being trash, y'know). The people Jim hangs around with hate men and thus they hated Jim until this gender stuff got him on their side.

What "allowed raids list"?
See the attachment. You can restrict raids to only be from channels you personally follow, are on your friends list, or are in your streaming team. This means only people you approve of can raid you, thus completely eliminating the Hate Raid problem entirely with one simple click.

It's pretty easy for a human to spot bot names that algorithms have a problem with. Give it a 5 minute timer for a quick search or a "click the link to view channel" pop up so you know it's legit
That means you force the streamer to stop the show to check out the person who wants to raid them, which breaks the flow of the stream as well as defeats the purpose of the raid. As the raider streamer will usually chose to raid a streamer in the middle of something cool, and the raid is seemless. By the stream stopping mid-whatever to check out the potential raider, you risk that raider loosing interest and moving onto someone else.

Most of the raids I've seen are from streamers who are about to end their own stream so they'll look for another streamer to raid in order to "pass off" their audience onto another creator that the viewer might also enjoy. If they have to wait for approval, they simply wont bother with it.

As opposed to now?
Well as i mentioned, the current system doesn't have abuseable work arounds yet. So....yes?

Dress it up as much as you want, but Twitch grew in popularity and continues to this day as a place kids and younguns can watch scantly clad women dancing around without getting in trouble for watching porn, or getting around blocked websites.
And the top female streamers, POKIMANE, LOSERFRUIT, AMOURANTH, LILYPICHU, CHICA, SWEET_ANITA, are "cosplay" and "just chat" channels.
You make those connections even though the statistics don't support it. Booby streamers are there, yes, and teens can go watch them, sure. Now, Amouranth certainly fits that description and a couple of others (though not pokimane, loserfruit, lilypichy or sweet_anita). If their existence taints Twitch then so be it, I guess. I'd wager the regular viewers of these women are typical lonely men, but who knows, the statistics don't tell.

Bots don't care about that. They just appear like viewers normally do, but in numbers at the same time ready to spam their non-existent hearts out.

Yes, they get botted too, but not to the absurd degree those that are a person of color, gay, lesbian, or trans face. The tournament people only get it once in awhile or rarely.
Let me bring up something that occurred a year ago. A very high profile and popular Vtuber by the name of Kiryu Coco became the subject of a targeted spam campaign. The reason for the spam and botting campaign? She referred to Taiwan as a country when reading off statistics about her viewers. Not only was she the subject of harassment, but whenever any of the other talents within the Hololive company (The group she was part of) brought her up they too would start getting bot spam. The different talents employed various methods to combat this like members only streams, members only chats, or in one case a talent "deputized" a random selection of their oldest members to be mods for her chat. It was a very isolating situation for Coco and happened for a trivial and passing reference to something that she had no connection to.

I remember how another Vtuber had to retire just a week after debuting because, well I'll quote a very more eloquent description.

At the time, Aloe had requested permission from her manager to try out her model on a previously owned account, one that would later expose her private life to a startling degree.

The manager complied with her request and she most likely spent a while trying out the rigging of her model before finishing up. However, neither her nor her manager had actually ended that test, leaving a backdoor for people to find. It was password protected, but someone was able to break in and find it. This would lead to a multitude of doxxing attempts onto the talent. She would further go on to address rumors and the concerning amount of harassment around her.

According to her, many people had used the private information dug up to start harassing a male acquainted with her; it was speculated that the man was her boyfriend, or something of that status, but she addressed that she and him had no current relationship at the time the video was made and had went their separate ways before her debut.

There were also many cases of doxxing and harassment from people. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, doxxing is defined as the action of “search[ing] for and publish[ing] private or identifying information about (a particular individual) on the Internet, typically with malicious intent,” according to Oxford Dictionary. The reason why the L2D leak was extremely serious was that it led to her private accounts being found out and spread across the internet.

A video on twitcast of an utaite with an almost identical voice to Aloe’s was found and posted to other websites, and contained information that many Japanese fans considered sensitive and foreboding of Aloe’s ability to ruin Hololive as a company. As a result, information such as her private twitter account, old niconico account, and even landline address were found out. She received many messages from random strangers to her own household from that. It is unknown what was said in these messages or if she even listened to all of them, but the fact of the matter stood that people knew sensitive information, perhaps even up to where she lived.
No. This is not a minority thing. People will attack others and do so vehemently for everything under the sun. Straight, white, males are also subject to these very same things, it's just that no one cares when it happens to them, like in the case of Scott Cawthon. This video seems to be Jim "investing" more into his new status as a purportedly trans individual by drumming up buzz about something that there's really no means to realistically deal with more than is already being attempted and I think he's successfully baited you into biting the hook. You're a very passionate person Brawlman, and you don't like seeing injustices done to others, but I think you need to learn to ease up a little rather than going all in on everything.

What are you talking about? How is that relevant to locking out random raids form your twitch settings?

I never denied that it could happen to people that are white or just vtubers, but I'm saying the ones that are minorities tend to get it the most, even more so by comparison. But they don't get it as much. It's still a scummy practice either way but, but like I said they tend to get it better than others.

Not for nothing Brawl, but do you have any proof of that?

I feel like anytime a few "minorities" get anything bad happening to them, it's always exaggerated into "X-group gets it the most!" Even though there is no evidence for that.
Unless there is, then ok.

But it's the same thing that when people talk about rape statistics they ignore that statistically men get raped way more than women. But it's one of those things where nobody cares so we aren't allowed to talk about it.

And I find it funny you you keep blowing crap off like this. You'll complain about some twitch girls that allowed to show their breasts or be fancy, but the moment something happens minorities, you either downplay it, ignore it at times, or try to say it's not as bad. I don't want to hear your fucking crap right now. I already gave you the proof. Do me a favor and go find it yourself. You always have a habit of doing this. If you don't believe me, fine. I don't freaking care. You'll go for all these statistics for other stuff, but when abuse actually happens you're not there to show it or whatever. Do whatever you please.

If we gathered all the data and found out others get raided just as much, don't you think there would be more reasons to put a stop to it? If these streamers don't lie and they are hurt by it the most, it seems like a place for Twitch to develop tools against harassment, which would benefit everyone. xQcOW just got almost 3 MILLION bot followers a little over a month ago.
The reports and articles I've seen say that they are using the raid feature. So.....? I dunno then. Swap Chat modes then.
Honestly, if it was all about the raid feature and they didn't disable or restrict it then I'd blame the victims. I'm positive they don't allow all raids. But yeah, I guess articles and Jim's video refer to the raid feature because it has been used for harassment before and we still call the attacks Bot raids.

Sure, and if someone was going into a chat and manually and adding hundreds and hundreds of bots then there wouldn't be anything the streamer could do about it outside of locking the chat down with a different mode.

However to do that, you would have a hell of a lot of effort to input the bots just to troll someone. Whereas if you could just flood them with the raid feature then it's quick easy and wouldn't require anything from the botter outside a couple of buttons and watching the fireworks ensue. So I think it's much more likely to abuse of the raid system itself, because of those reasons. Plus with a raid, the botter can watch without actually being on the steamers channel making it hard to get caught probably.

I spent this whole thread just pointing out that this is already a mostly solvable problem by the streamer themselves. Every article and video says this is a result of abusing the raid feature, which I have shown everyone here that it is super easy to turn off and limit. Which immediately shuts down all the "abuse" these people get from bots.

So assuming they've brought this to Twitch's attention, Twitch very likely could have told the streamers, "Turn off or limit raids in your channel and you wont have this problem." Then there is absolutely no further obligation on Twitch's part to do anything further.

The tool is there, use it.

But there is much more attention and benefit to be gained from crying about it, now isn't there. Let's be really honest. Afro Samurai isn't complaining about this, Night Sky Prince isn't complaining about this. No it's always people who want to gain from their "marginalized" status. "Look at poor us." It's the same crap people have been pulling for a long time now.

TheBlackHogage even has a video of him getting "hate raided" and he turns it off immediately by going sub only. Then laughs at them.

That's why I'm not all bothered by this, because the tools to stop it are already there. These people are choosing not to use them because by playing the victim and hamming it up, they get attention, attention leads to follows, donations, subs, and MONEY MONEY MONEY YO!

And frankly that's what they SHOULD be. Hell yeah Queen! Play that shit up and make some money. That's what I would do.

So yeah, on this. Dismissed!

So, a check box asking if you want to accept a raid is unacceptable, but requiring somebody that you want to raid follow you back before hand has no depressive aspect whatsoever? That what we're going with here? Really?

They don't have to follow you back, you just have to follow them.

It should be noted that a bunch of creators have shown this on Twitter to showcase to other streamers that you can basically turn all this raiding off entirely.

And I just pointed out how a majority of it doesn't work and there are a whole bunch of loop around. They just pointed us out in fine detail in the video from two of the testimonies. At least from two of them. There is no end of discussion, there is no dismiss just because you say it. Nobody gave you this the freaking authority. So I don't even try that crap. The discussion is never over, so long as this keeps happening and people of different color, those that are gay or lesbian, or trans that are abused. The discussions never over. You always try to start this crap. Whenever you don't want to hear something it's "end of discussion, I don't want to hear anything, not as bad, or everyone is getting it". Congratulations, you're doing the white privilege talk. As long as the thread is staying open, the discussion is never over and you were sure as hell don't have the final fucking say so. You ain't the boss. Take that to the bank.

Don't forget about the evidence @Baffle provided about how the word filtering by yourself is not the best idea and completely unmanageable and impractical. It's up for those at top to do their freaking job. Not my fault you choose to ignore the victims unless it's somebody you give a crap about or yourself.

*sigh*
You have to follow them for them to raid you, and they have to follow you for them to raid you. And this is somehow less depressive for engagement than a checkbox pop up.

But hey, you've already decided that anybody this happens to for hours at a time whenever they stream is letting it happen because they want it to, so...maybe listen to theblackhokage?

It's also happening to Vtubers as well. The more I look around the more it is a Twitch-wide thing, not just a "marginalized" thing.

Unless 2D are marginalized now.
