Um. No. Hugs (especially bro hugs) aren't gay.

While we're at it, hugging your sister is incest and petting your dog is bestiality.

Only the most insecure of people would actually think this.
Poetically put.

Depends how much crotch you commit.

But seriously, no, and if I were you, I would've told my mother I was gay just to see her face.

Does it fuck... It's called a MAN HUG, and yes, you must pronounce the capital letters.

Anybody who thinks that a MAN HUG is gay is either homophobic, or in denial about their own sexuality... Probably the latter.
Of course, a requirement of the MAN HUG is that the two MEN pat each other on the back, thus confirming to onlookers that it is a MAN HUG and they're just friends.

Joking aside, I think if any man has a problem with hugging another man, chances are good that they're simply insecure. People would argue that it's no longer the case, but I think there is still societal pressure on men to be MANLY and stoic and not express any emotions. If they have a problem with hugging it's probably because they haven't been able to come to terms with their own emotions.

For the record, I hug my friends all the time. Especially when I'm drunk.

Two girls hugging isn't seen as them being gay, so why are two guys hugging seen as gay?
Some guys are so terrified of being called gay that they seek to accuse others of being gay to feel straight. Or it could be some other reason. That one just seems plausible.

I hope you don't think me stupid for not assuming this is a joke. It is, right? I hope so.

What's up with the maturity level of your friend who thinks that hugging is gay? Hell, I know incredibly homophobic people who will hug their male friends with no reservations whatsoever. Sounds to me like your friend is preoccupied with expressing that he absolutely, positively is not gay. This doesn't necessarily mean that he is, but it may indicate he has issues with the wimmens. Or not - what do I know? I've never met the guy.

I believe Peter Molenuex demonstrated correct man hug protocol to a bunch of reporters one time, go ask him.

reunion hugs.
Only guys with serious unresolved issues have a problem with reunion hugs.

But hugging every time you meet, that's a bit much, but not gay. They might just be European or something.

Prolly depends on how you do the hug. If you're rubbing your hands all over him, then yeah, that might be a little awkward XD

I just do it in a manly way - like a bear hug or with back slaps and then it seems OK, even to onlookers. To be honest, however, it's only like one of my mates who I do hug. However, I don't think it's gay, but I wouldn't just randomly spring it on someone - you and your mate both have to be 'huggers' to hug in my opinion.

Being exclusively attracted to members of the same sex makes you gay. Hugs have nothing to do with it.

It's gay if you get a tingling in your crotch area. That's the one and only rule.

No, it's not. I think what makes a hug between two guys is the intention behind it. If you're gay and you're hugging because you like the person, then, yes, it is gay. If you're not gay and it's just your way of showing friendship, I don't think it is.

This seems so childish...like how "gay" is the universal negative adjective to apply to things in high school.

I generally stick to handshakes with guys and hugs with girls as that just seems more natural, but there's nothing innately wrong with hugging the same sex. I find it ridiculous that people could be so insecure as to say otherwise.

well, all my friends live in different parts of the country so when we do meet it pretty much is a reunion, some friends i haven't seen for 2 or 3 years, next time i see them i will be giving them a hug. when I saw them on a pretty much daily basis, no, we didn't hug every time we met.
