No. Me and my band all give each other hugs in greeting. Hell, occasionally two of us will crash in the same bed while one refuses to wear more than boxers. And by occasionally I mean frequently, and I'm always the one who is wearing clothes trying in vain to convince the other to wear more clothes.

However, none of us are gay. Only one of us (boxers guy) isn't a virgin, but the rest of us haven't slept with any women not because we don't want to, but because one of guy's girlfriend lives 100 miles away and the two of us remaining (me and our drummer) just don't have luck in that field.

I forgot where I was going with all this because its 4:30 in the morning, but looking back to the OP I see its about whether two guys hugging is gay, and no, it isn't.

depending on where your from it can come across to onlookers as gay...

no one around here does it really too much, if it is its the least amount of contact possible with a bro tap around the back of the arm, even then i would call it a "brug" (see bro hug) more than an actual hug.

personally i don't care at all, but i'm not one for really touchy touchy kind of stuff as is, so i hardly hug anyone because i don't find it all that enthusiastic unless i really care about someone.

Hell, I hug guys all the time. There's a lot of friends I have here in Perth that I only see at Metal shows. We hug when we see each other, stand around, catch up etc. I hug most of my friends, girls or guys. I'm not gay, and I'm not in love with all the girls either. It's just another way to greet/farewell someone.

Alright, so with that said, honestly, it isnt. It depends how you hug and all, i mean that whole "black guy hip hop hug" thing aint gay, is it? Try telling that to them when they do it and watch them laugh, or worse punch you in the face.
