Personally I'd Rather Another Totally Easy way of getting the game, although I can't think of one off the top of my head...

Seriously though. How long before someone figures how to point the server search at their own PC?

[HEADING=1]WHAT THE FUCK?!?![/HEADING]

Sorry once wasn't enough.

Seriously though do Ubisoft expect this to stop piracy? There annoying a huge fanbase and even cutting some out (people without the net). Wonder how long till some kind of crack is released or till when Ubisoft decide that this is more pointless then male nipples.

I can see it now.

Customer:
"Dear Ubisoft,
I am having difficulty playing Assassassin's Creed 2 due to my wireless internet not being very reliable. My machine is powerful, and it can run the game at 1920x1080 @ 60+ frames per second at full detail... I created my machine specifically to be able to run games like this and have invested a lot of time, effort and money to make sure I'm able to handle anything the game industry throws at me requirement-wise; however, I do not play games online due to my spotty wireless internet that I'm forced to share with my roommates, and really only play offline single-player games like Mass Effect, Prince of Persia and the orginal Assassassin's Creed. i really want to play this game and have spent $60+ in order to play it. What can I do?"

Ubisoft:
"Dear customer,
We're very happy to have you so excited to play our games. In regards to your techincal difficulties, we suggest that you possibly move closer to your router or possibly plug directly into the router itself in order to maintain a strong connection to the internet to guarantee a seamless Assassassin's Creed 2 experience! Thank you very much for enjoying Ubisoft products!"

Customer:
"Dear Ubisoft,
... seriously?"

Ubisoft:
"Dear customer,
... yes."

Customer:
"Dear Ubisoft,
... I hate you..."

Ubisoft:
"Dear customer,
... we still have your money. Guess you should have pirated huh?"

It doesn't bother me as I barely use my PC for games...
But My broadband connection has to run a program to connect and has to keep this program running to stay connected... This may not seem like a problem... but a few of the games I have are unable to run with other programs running... Althought most of my games ore at least 3/4 years old... (a lot even older than that... e.g Baldur's Gate, Age of Empires), perhaps newer games don't quite have this problem... come to think of it... I think the newer games I have (Sims 2, Doom 3) don't have this problem. I don't know about the newest game though, The Sims 3, beacuse I don't play it.

Oh no, Ubisoft added a DRM to a game that requires I have a constant Internet connection.

And there it went.

Wow, it would sure suck if I was a paying customer with a bad Internet connection who didn't know how to undo the damage that Ubisoft's dumbass superiors are doing.

As Ubisoft draws neared to deliver us their games on the PC, they take off their mask and say: "All right, you PC gamers! In the words of my generation, UP YOURS!"

In all seriousness: What the fuck?

I might be being retarded here but, how would making the game require a constant internet connection stop piracy?

Surely, if I choose to download an illegal copy, some clever chap will create a crack that gets around this issue?

On the basis that I refuse to be treated like a (potential) criminal, Ubisoft can shove any idea of me ever buying that game.

Maybe Ubisoft just wants attention. Like so many other publishers that announce extremely restrictive DRM (Spore, Bioshock/2 ?) only to have it removed soon after.

The company gets lot of press (bad press, but press nonetheless), than announces the removal of restrictive features and doubles the attention it gets and ends it with a positive note. FREE marketing.

Or maybe they indeed are crazy and are serious on this.

As a PC gamer, does Ubisoft not realize we are an unforgiving bunch? Do they also not realize we complain like there's no tomorrow?
yes, but they also realize that PC gamers can´t do anything to change their mind
When they see sales fall thanks to word of mouth, then maybe they will think that the new system sucks. Well, more likely, they will think "It's those pesky pirates."

Interrrupted ISP service is the least of our worries. Remember that EA is pulling down tons of its servers over the next two months; some of those games are barely a year old. No guarentees Ubi wouldn't do the same if they were put in the same position.

Enjoy that $70 rental.

Unacceptable, Ubisoft needs to take a look at the gamer's bill of rights.

I like hte fact that in order to pirate you need to be online. Hmm... Who's the only one that it fucks over... The person who has the shit connection or none at all.

honestly, this just makes me laugh. The writing's on the wall people.

Soon it will be 100% easier to pirate games then to own the legitimately. Hell, it may be there already.

I don't support piracy on a moral level, but eventually too much is too much.

The idea that this would stop piracy (It's the only thing I can think that would lead people to be so stupid.. pre-owned sales aren't an issue in PC gaming) is laughable. This will create more piracy. I would never buy a game that required me to be connected to their server 100% of the time to play, especially a single player game.

I probably wouldn't pirate it either, but I certainly wouldn't buy it.

Boycotts never work, people break down and buy it.

Just pirate it, pirate the hell out of it (I am not endorsing pirating, that was a....joke, yeah, let's go with joke)

unfortunately pirating it will make them just ratchet up DRM more, but who cares! You have a cracked copy!

Seriously though, I am not really a PC gamer, so it doesn't effect me much, but who the HELL decided this was a good idea? Are people that fucking stupid? All this does is encourage people to pirate it like crazy!
