The level of raw disconnect here is staggering and insulting; this smacks of middle-upper class ignorance.
Newsflash: the economy is still in the shitter. People don't have money to spend on 3D nonsense, which is precisely what this technology is at this point. These sets (as well as the mandatory glasses) are going to have come down 80% or more from retail before the average joe starts seriously considering a purchase, and that's only after major cable networks start airing compelling 3D content.
Alternatively, this guy might just be a tool of the electronics industry. I've said it before: they're scared collectively shitless by the idea that people might be perfectly satisfied with HD television for 10+ years. They need to manufacture a new technology to sell us wildly overpriced sets to replace the perfectly functional ones we just bought. I'm sure 3D sounded brilliant, what with the extra expense (read: revenue) generated by the glasses. After all, ten people watching one television is sort of communist; they should each have to pay for the pleasure, really. Anyways... they've latched onto nothing more than a gimmick. It's not an objective improvement over traditional HD television in the slightest. There's zero reason we, as a culture, should accept this unnecessary technology turnover until they come back with something legitimately revolutionary. As opposed to, you know, a dopey parlor trick lifted from the fucking 50's.
