Well glory, lordy, hellfire, matches, fuck a duck and see what hatches! (That's the British version :D) seriously though, really ubisoft? Is this really a good idea? If I want to eat an apple with my girlfriend, then i'll just eat a goddamned apple with my girlfriend.

it looks like a Wii Sports that will get you laid. That's an improvement.
Except it won't. Ever. Unless you're date is somehow really, really, really into spanking and rubbing his/her face against wii remotes and if that is true, you may want to steer clear of them...
I can't imagine why you'd even want to play this if everyone in the room ISN'T horny. It's like spin the bottle, or one of those weird party boardgames.

I'm not saying it's not crap, I'm just surprised at the consternation in the thread. There's millions of these things, and now there's one with graphics and motion-control gimmicks. Good for Ubisoft, they're branching out. I certainly won't hold it against them because I don't operate on Victorian-era morals.

Yeah, am I the only one who's thinking that, if you're going to try and make a game like this, it would at least work better on Kinect where you don't need to rub your face against a controller?

Not that it would work anyways, just seems like if they were trying to go for that, Kinect would've been the better option.

Somebody pass the brain bleach. It was so embarrassing to watch, especially with the addition of all the little extra clips at the end, with the 'No 1' (as well as the HILARIOUS '6969' parental code for it) being the worst of them all.

I'm honestly surprised this has a PEGI rating of 12, you know CONSIDERING. ... o_0

Plus this, but I'm assuming Microsoft weren't interested

Personally i'm not surprised at the sort of reactions from this thread. Most of us (well, i think) arn't exactly in the Wii target audience, we're hardcore gamers. The Wii very successfully targeted non-hardcore gamers, Nintendo wisely guessed that if they stuck to the hardcore gamer demographic they were eventually going to get squeezed out by Microsoft and Sony and moved out when they could.

I'm not really sure what to make of this. The idea of making "kinky but not too kinky" video games aimed at adults i think is a good one, and if anyone's going to try that i'm not surprised it's Nintendo- whom must be feeling pretty confident when it comes to innovation due to their success with the Wii.

I don't really like how they have people virtually mouthing the controller, i carn't imagine many people finding that appealing- controllers tend not to be the most hygienic of things, being passed through countless person's sweaty hands.

So, good idea in concept, but in practice a little ill-founded.

I dont mind it that much, its not like you are playing a game where YOU are having sex with characters from the game, like those weird japanese games.

This does not make gaming less mature, there are erotic board games and they dont make board games less mature either.

This can be considered and erotic game, it isnt about "Buy this game to have sex", its more about "Buy this game to spice things up".

The sae reason why someone would buy an erotic board game.

I really really really really hated when the advertisement for Dead Space 2 was it's violent, it's revolting it's everything you love in a game. No, this is not what i love about a game...i love variety this is what a stupid 14 year old likes about a game the advertisement campaign sucked.

This is waaaaay classier than any of EA's offerings.

Honestly, I'm a bit confused by a few things. Why advertise with four people when two would make a lot more sense? What is with the stupid parental code thing at the end? But most of all, why the hate, gang?

This is basically one of the first mass market applications of a growing range of experiments in intimate gaming. Most of what we saw in that ad was playful and fun. It has a certain charm, even, in its pointed lack of shame about sex.

It's not perfect. Again, four people? Really? I'm not ready to invite anyone other than my fiancée over for what are, literally, sex games. But of people use games like these to spice up their relationship, more power to them. Nothin' wrong with that.

(And if I had to guess, it's 12+ because nothing naughty happens on screen, and that's what, by law, they're told to rate.)

Edit: Man, comments on this item exploded. I'd probably have toned myself down a bit if I'd known that, in between my reading the thread and my managing to type out a post on my iPhone, there'd be a few people posting more or less in agreement with me. So, y'know, for all those who are saying that the idea of the game isn't a bad one, I'm totally on board with you guys. Does it look like a bad game? Too hard to tell, yet. Is it a bad ad? Probably.

Perfect for when you have some girls over I guess. Maybe I'm too shaken up after side swiping a car today to be offended.

I have to say that this game seems par for the course for the type of crap I've played on the Wii; it has its purposes, good gaming not necessarily being one. (It was great for giving my terminally ill and bed ridden mother some exercise which gave her more good time, and allowed her to play animal crossing with her grandchildren in other states, also EA Active wasn't bad for activity when you feel like a shut in).

Beyond that, I am questioning the viability of this game, sure it may distract a few people from the tedium of their loveless marriage for a few more months, and it may be bought by some socially awkward college kids who buy into the marketing and think it'll kick off an orgy of models in their dorm room. But all told, it seems like using the childish, classic Wii schema to present the game seems strange.

I'm guessing it'll be too kitschy and sanitized to satisfy the goal as a sexy game, but then be too pointless to be a game game, which is pretty much the problem with any game on that system that isn't a game for children/casual play or isn't a "work out" simulator.

honestly, I've watched the video and i really don't see what is everyone so fussed about.

That it gets a 12+ rating, ok, fine, that's discussable.

But the game itself? pff, hell, if ubisoft feels there's money to be made there, why shouldn't they try? innovation has often been a great way to start a trend and make money (Minecraft anyone?) and, the other thing is, deny it or not, sex is lucrative. So, as far as being a precursor for that type of game goes, i see no problem.

On the debatable topic of sex games, how exactly is that game offensive or degrading? how exactly is it different from the usual porn magazine or video that all male adults peek at every now and then? yeah yeah, its taboo, and so are porn magazine and yet, they're still kinda part of our culture because they're mentionned pretty often in movies, books and songs. and all males thinks that Playboy, the brand, is actually cool even if no one wants to get caught with a magazine in their closet.

I think that the reality we need to face is that we are growing to be a gamer society, no longer is gaming restricted to dorks that watch star wars in their sleep while playing AD&D. There's no reason why sex games cannot be included as part of an evening between consenting adults if they so choose, or just with your partner if that's what you prefer.

Playing this game doesn't stop a person from "getting a life", going out, having fun or getting high, it just adds on top of the stuff we can already do.

Anyway, I'm not trying to defend the game by no means, i am simply not understanding why the writer takes such an offended nun stance on it and why the readers are following because, seriously, the first thought that occurred to me after viewing the video was "ok, so what?"

I have severe doubts that a 12+ game is all that daring when it comes to showcasing and encouraging sexuality. Seems Catherine is the only console title so far with any kind of a chance to properly deal with the area of more overt eroticism as a general theme.

Sure hope they didn't cough up too much for the advert either.

Not even my hedonistic college roommates would've played a "game" like that. I do know a couple of newlyweds who might by themselves, but making it a 4-player game? That's... that's just... yeah... help me out...

FoxNews: "A swinging simulator/pedophilia".

Yeah... that. (Did I just agree with what FoxNews is probably going to call this? Damn you again, Ubisoft!)
