Then why buy it at all?

Don't get me wrong, I STRONGLY support the used market and think it's an important part of the gaming industry. I just don't get why they don't deserve money for it if you seem to want it bad enough to buy it.

fair enough. but i don't want to support capcom in doing this kind of stuff. i find it lazy and i find it disrespectfull for owners of the previous game. just make it also DLC just like AE.

ZOMG PHOENIX WRIGHT!!

Anyway, why the hell wasn't Ghost Rider included originally? He's probably more popular than some of the Marvel characters featured in the game (I for one went "who?" when I saw X-23), not to mention Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze is one of Marvels oldest characters.

At least it's only 40$ (though it should just be DLC since that would be a hell of a lot easier) While I think the idea is stupid I won't mind having it, once I trade in the first MVC3 for it.

Exactly. Fuck Capcom. This is what the game should have been from the beginning. How did they not realize the serious errors during development of the first one? I bought the original and returned it after a week because I was so angry.

While I think Vergil and Ghost Rider are pretty cool, I hate Strider's voice. I'll wait too read public opinion about this game and see if it really improved at all.

I am a Megaman X fan so if the game had him in it, I'd probably would get it or have kept the old one. It's weird that Capcom doesn't like him since he was at the top of the Japanese polls for character DLC. I am also upset for them canceling Megaman Legends 3 for no adequate reason especially after so much hype. They say they want fan input and then ignore it.

Capcom, make up your fucking minds and do things right the first time. 40 bucks is too much for repairing your awful mistakes.

Who loves paying Capcom $60-70 for demos of games that will be finished later in the year?

Ugh, Capcom.... you are NOT doing well lately, are you....

And this is the crap we get instead of Mega Man Universe, Ace Attorney Investigations 2, and Mega Man Legends 3. Yet another brand new version of a fucking fighting game instead of releasing the balance tweaks as a patch and the characters as DLC to the first release.

This is why you suck, Capcom.

Each character is worth $5.
And immediately I disagree.
I wasn't asking for an opinion, mate, but the characters are priced at $5 a piece. So yeah, I guess if everyone would rather pay $60 for DLC that's fine by me.

No one ever asks for an opinion, so don't be conceited. Characters priced at $5 is an outrage. You do realize this also priced like 4 costumes for that much too? Capcom is a greedy beast.

So Phoenix Wright isn't popular enough to have an awesome game with him and Professor Layton, but he's good enough to be in the big crossover clusterfuck punch-up he really has no business in? That ain't right...

And if Capcom has any sense they will release the same thing as an update to MvC via DLC. Even if it's 20 bucks it would clearly go a long way toward appeasing their fans.

First give me AAI2, Layton vs PW, and MML3. Then maybe I'll consider buying it.

But that's still a big maybe. I've been burned pretty hard here.

No Spoiler Alert for the leaked characters? Thanks, Escapist.
....What?

This is information released by Capcom relating to a "new" game.

Why would the spoiler tags be necessary?
Thank you. I was scratching a hole in my hat at this complaint too.
Basically because the only "officially released new characters" are Hawkeye, Ghost Rider, Strider and Firebrand...

The other guys (Rocket Raccon and the others...) were a slip on behalf of Capcom and they have been removed from their web site already. :S

My opinions on this are mixed. While I was expecting the announcement of new DLC I was not expecting them to make Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, well, I didn't expect it until the announcement of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. Hopefully they will allow you to download the game onto your pre-existing copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 like recent fighters have been doing.

Getting back to my first point though, about how I have mixed opinions on this. First, the characters, they are good choices. I thought Doctor Strange and Firebrand should have been in the game to start with (Two of Doctor Strange's villains are in the game and Capcom needs more villains representing them), and the announcements of bizarre choices such as Rocket Racoon and Phoenix Wright has made me happy. I'm also very, very happy that there are no X-Men or Street Fighter characters on the list as the game already has plenty of them.

I'm annoyed that there is no inclusion of Megaman, any Megaman, on Capcoms side, as whether or not he (or one of the many versions of him) should be in the game should not even be debatable. I'm also irked that there is no Silver Surfer, despite how he was originally going to be in the game, has not appeared in the previous Marvel vs. Capcom games, and the main boss of the game is Galactus. I mean, the two reasons they did not put him in the game is that they were struggling to program his board into the game, and did not want him to feature in the game without riding it because he would look too much like Iceman. But Iceman isn't in the game, and they were able to put Ghost Rider in the game while sidelining his Motorbike to his entry/exit and specials. Why not do the same for Silver Surfer? Seriously Capcom, you got me hyped up for my favourite Superhero featuring in this game and he is only found in the end cut scene for Zero. I also wish Ryu (Breath of Fire), Hood and Witchfire were in the game but those are just personal wants, the previous two have sufficient reasoning to be in the game.

My mixed opinions do not centre on the characters though, as I found Marvel vs. Capcom 3's character roster, for the most part acceptable. Though it was annoying to see no Fire Brand, Megaman, Silver Surfer or Doctor Strange while six X-men were present, each character fought differently, had different strategies that worked with them, and overall the game play was solid. In fact Marvel vs Capcom 3 had one of the best fighting mechanics of any fighting game I've played, it was simple and easy to get to grips with but challenging to master. Fights are fast paced and colourful, and in battle there is never a dull moment. My gripe with the game is there were few game modes to utilise the great game play. As an offline gamer I was limited to Arcade, Versus, Training, and Mission. The arcade is short, with cheaply done cut scenes as your reward, some of them being incredibly dull (The Avengers trio have the worst). The versus is only good if you can find someone capable of going up against you, the training is simply there as training, and the Mission mode is simply structured combo practise. I was at least expecting a Survival mode, or stuff to unlock. I know people get annoyed at having to unlock characters in a fighting game but it gives you an objective to strive for, and if not characters, how about stages or new costumes.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom could have all my favourite characters from Marvel and Capcom but it still won't convince me to buy it unless it offers some extra game modes, even if it's just a standard Survival or Time Attack mode. While to get such a thing will require online (I planned to eventually get it for the sake of having Shuma-Goroth but now I have extra incentive if the Ultimate version is downloadable), and will thus give me access to online matches, I would really like single player modes to fight in.

Overall the additions made so far look pretty nice and though the absent of Megaman and Silver Surfer still ticks me off the characters they have decided to add are a good set. Here hoping for some additional game modes to also be added, and give me sufficient reason to purchase this game...again...sort of.

Although Nemesis and Vergil would be awesome to play as, I can't see me getting this. For starters, I took MvC3 back the day after I got it...and secondly, even though I know they've done it with other games, I don't agree with them releasing a whole new game - but hey. Maybe I'll rent it at some point.

Trish-Dante-Vergil. Jackpot.

I held out on getting MvC3 and only gave it a rent because this was likely to happen so now I just might pick it up. I'll have to wait and see how much added content there will be besides characters. The repetitive arcade and barebones multiplayer mode in the old one was not satisfactory.

I'm so sick of capcom pulling this stunt.

I'm even sicker of falling for it.

Damn it.

While everyone whines about this new version, I will be happily handing my money over and playing it. MvC3 was a fantastic follow-up to MvC2, and I have no problem paying 40 dollars for all the new extras, especially since that is a lot less than it would have cost if released as DLC. Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for a few other characters to be added, mainly Daredevil. Which ending was he in? I don't remember, but he was in one of them (as Matt Murdock).

My only concern is that there is a strong possibility that nothing I did in MvC3 will be transferred over, mainly the 20+ hours I have spent on ranked matches online. Oh well.
It was one of the Resident Evil Characters. He was the attorney at Wesker's trial.

This is 90% awesome. The only thing that isn't...is that AWFUL health bar. Please put it back to the MVC3 style and not that one. It's always the little things the bug me.
