Your not getting any more money out of me capcom after cancelling Mega Man Legends 3, especially not for such a lackluster game as MVC3.

FFS Capcom, I'm not buying your new re-release of a game I bought day one...

On the other hand, Pheonix Wright, you say? Oh you sneaky bastards you... Fine, I'll get it. -_-

I'm excited for this. A pretty good list of additions (Frank West, Doctor Strange and Phoenix Wright are my three faves of the bunch.) I'm also looking forward to the gameplay tweaks. Still, no Daredevil or Bullseye?

Anyone who owns the first game just got fucked.
Up the arse. With a garden gnome.

While I'm not one of those people, one of my friends is...

And yet somehow I doubt Capcom will release the additional content as DLC; why sell DLC for 5-20 dollars when you can sell it for 60 instead?

You know, I was ready to say "Screw this, I'm not buying another version of a game I already own," but damnit those new characters are great. Strider, Frank West, and freakin' Phoenix Wright on the Capcom side, and Dr. Strange and Iron Fist on Marvel (yeah I know most don't know or care about Iron Fist, but I'm a big fan of his recent comics)? Now I just don't know what to think.

Edit: (Spoilers: or at least as spoilerish as you can get in a game with no real story) I do find it interesting that Iron Fist and Ghost Rider are in, as they showed up in Ryu and Dante's endings, respectively. I haven't seen most of the other endings though, so I wonder if any of the rest show up?
FireBrand also showed up in Dormammu's ending though he was overshadowed by Wesker and Akuma in that ending as well. Which I think was the intention. Frank was in the trailers and make a very hidden cameo in I think Episode 2 where Captain America saves him.

Take my money Capcom I don't need it!

The game is coming out at $40. It comes with 12 new characters, and a lot of tweaked/updated features.

Jill and Shuma-Gorath cost $5 each. 12 x 5 = 60. So we are essentially getting 12 $5 characters for $40, plus character balances and other updates. I am okay with this.

The only thing that upsets me is Gambit is not a new character...

While everyone whines about this new version, I will be happily handing my money over and playing it. MvC3 was a fantastic follow-up to MvC2, and I have no problem paying 40 dollars for all the new extras, especially since that is a lot less than it would have cost if released as DLC. Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for a few other characters to be added, mainly Daredevil. Which ending was he in? I don't remember, but he was in one of them (as Matt Murdock).

My only concern is that there is a strong possibility that nothing I did in MvC3 will be transferred over, mainly the 20+ hours I have spent on ranked matches online. Oh well.
I think you will keep your online ranked stuff. At least that's the way they did it for Street Fighter IV A.E. I play people online now who either have already had WAY too much time to play this game OR their stats transferred. Marvel VS. Capcom 3 seems to be in lock step with SFIV so far, including not being able to count so I wouldn't worry about losing your stats.

I agree with you about having no problem buying this even though I've already bought MvC3. It's easier for those of us with only 20 gig drives and you make a good point about it being less expensive than DLC. As for my "Awwwwww why can't we have my obscure favorite WAhhhhh!!!!" moment, I would like to see Sakura back in it on Capcom's side and I think Union Jack would be a great pick for Marvel. (It's a fighting game. The man kicks a$$!!)

and this can't be DLC because...?

i'm not buying this in the store. if i want it, i will buy it second-handed, capcom doens't deserve money for doing this.
Exactly. Fuck Capcom. This is what the game should have been from the beginning. How did they not realize the serious errors during development of the first one? I bought the original and returned it after a week because I was so angry.

While I think Vergil and Ghost Rider are pretty cool, I hate Strider's voice. I'll wait too read public opinion about this game and see if it really improved at all.

I am a Megaman X fan so if the game had him in it, I'd probably would get it or have kept the old one. It's weird that Capcom doesn't like him since he was at the top of the Japanese polls for character DLC. I am also upset for them canceling Megaman Legends 3 for no adequate reason especially after so much hype. They say they want fan input and then ignore it.

Capcom, make up your fucking minds and do things right the first time. 40 bucks is too much for repairing your awful mistakes.
I understand your pain, but if your looking at $5 per DLC character, that would be $60 dollars already with the 12 new characters alone. That is if spectator mode and the new balance tweaks are "free".

No Spoiler Alert for the leaked characters? Thanks, Escapist.
....What?

This is information released by Capcom relating to a "new" game.

Why would the spoiler tags be necessary?
Thank you. I was scratching a hole in my hat at this complaint too.
Because, Strider, Hawkeye, Ghost Rider, and Firebrand were the only characters revealed, the other 8 were all leaked from the website and I was attempting to avoid the leaks so I could be surprised, but oh well. At least Iron Fist is there.

I really am curious why they cannot just release the characters for a decent price over DLC instead of re-boxing an entire game. You're lagging behind technology Capcom

As others have stated, I am incredibly confused at the choice to sell it as a full priced game. Where does this leave the people who have the original MvC3? I suppose we need to, essentially, rebuy the game.

Arceus help us if they add even more characters. Mega Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Turbo Ultra Gold Collector's Edition Deluxe doesn't seem that far off.

Twelve characters and not one of them's a girl... Sexist much Capcom?

And where are the Rival Schools characters?

Edit: I'm also deeply worried that UMvC3 will still be a broken unbalanced mess.

I'm really against Capcom right now. They treat their fans like sheep, forcing them to buy another version of a game, thereby making the original useless, just for some characters that could easily be sold as DLC. I don't care that there's some admitedly awesome characters, I'm not shelling my money for a game I already have because Capcom is too lazy/greedy for 5$ character downloads. Now if I want to kick ass with Nemesis or Ghost Rider, I have to also buy even more characters I don't care about, because God forbid I can actually buy characters seperately. Not only that, but now my MvC strategy guide I bought just to get better at the game might as well be a 40$ stack of looseleaf. AND since everyone will be buying the new version, I'll be faced with empty servers online, FORCING me to buy the damn game.

In summary, go straight to hell, Capcom and take your 40$ DLC with you. And to my fellow Escapists, don't be fooled by this obvious cash-grab and save your money for a product not spawned by greed.

$40 for 12 characters (as previously stated, all priced at $5 a pop. That's $60 ;]), 8 stages, a complete UI overhaul, online overall, and overall gameplay tweaks.

I assumed you'd much rather pay $60 for the characters, about $16 for the stages, and $15 for the gameplay update? $91-DLC? Sounds much better than a $40 disc. Fuck Capcom and their tricks!!!!!
