Do any of you here have unusual phobias? I don't mean simple stuff like arachnophobia I mean the really crazy stuff.

I really, really dislike sleeping. I mean, I do, but I just don't like it. It feels like sleeping is the closest thing to dying (or "the abyss") if you're not dreaming. So I avoid it when I can. And not only that but it seems like it's a waste of time and productivity when you're napping :(

Wasn't there a thread about this recently?

Oh well.

Mine is Numerophobia.

I have this odd hatred of the number 5. I can't have anything to do with it.

I can't have it on me. Near me. Be the hour of 5. Or have 5 of something.

I don't mind if someone else has all 5s but when it's on me, I freak out. Almost makes me depressed.

I'm the same way except with the number 2.

Does Xylophobia count? Fear of wood (splinters,) as in I can not actually brush my skin on a dry wood surface without getting total chills down my back.

Allowing my family to know that I've had crushes on various girls since I was 6.

The humiliation would throw me into a deep depression, and I would probably go insane.

Oh, and that glossy paper. Like in leaflets. I hate the feeling of it. Especially the feeling of my nails on it.

Well, I guess I get to share my irrational fear of giant squid with the Escapist again.

http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2008/11/25/giant_scary_elbow_squid_filmed

That thing is not of this Earth. It is from my nightmares. Squid aren't supposed to have elbows god damn it. Seriously, if I ever see this thing, fuck it. I give up.

Squid are the spiders of the sea. They've got too many appendages and are COLD BLOODED KILLERS! My biggest fear is a spider/squid hybrid. A Squider, I guess it would be called.

Many would call this fear irrational. But when the squider comes...

2 is my favorite number... it signifies the best I could ever do in life...

I have a horrible fear of being struck by a color guard member in my college's marching band. Those flags are scary, believe me.

I have a fear of open water. Partly because of the sheer volume of things like the ocean, but I also fear the ocean creatures. Underwater creeps me out. That and spiders.

I have castration anxiety. About 51% of people have it and it is where you are afraid something will happen to your phallus, be it dismemberment or a disorder.
