What's the kid's mom complaining about? Microsoft just did them a favor - he can earn his achievements all over again, without her having to buy new games!
lol, as terrible as that sounded at first, I kinda get your point. Now the kid can actually get the achievements for real. As for the account name, it's been erased of gamerscore, just make another one and start over!Sgt. WantCuddles said:What's the kid's mom complaining about? The issue I have here is that there have been plenty of rare use cases where users would be randomly awarded achievements they haven't earned, across all three major systems (Steam, PSN, and XBL)Grabbin Keelz said:"Microsoft says it's confident that someone tampered with Jackson's account to boost his score in an illegitimate manner, and doesn't currently plan to give him his achievements back."
That's it? They're 'confident' that he cheated, no proof? I know someone on Twitter said they confirmed it. But again, I didn't read any details on how they found out. I really hope Microsoft doesn't see people as cheaters based on their 'confidence'
EDIT: Ok, not even the worlds greatest gaming Jesus can get All the CoD Black Ops achievements in 3 seconds. Now THATS the legitimate proof I was looking for.
Mommy probably cried to the TV station. People do things like that all the time. Autism is a hot-button issue right now, so I guarantee you they're milking this for all they can get.Tim Latshaw said:Sometimes you have to take a step back and ask: Why is this a story worthy of coverage from a news station? A game site, sure; but a broadcast affiliate in a major city? Really?
It's Faux Noise, what do you expect? They'll do anything to create outrage...Blind Sight said:Is it just me or does anyone else find this entire story really immature? The labelling of 'cheaters' by Microsoft, the mother's response, Q13 FOX News actually covering this as a story?
Maybe the disabled kid relies on the xbox as an escapism and having a high gaming score makes him feel proud. Losing his gamerscore made it hard for him to play his escapism with such a label and low score he may be feeling like he will never make it back to what he use be on his gamer card.RikuoAmero said:Okay why does Microsoft care about Gamerscores? Unless I missed something, they're actually practically useless. You can't spend them on anything. All they're good for is a d*ck waving competition "I played 20 games and got all achievements on them. Beat that!"
If you could trade in Gamerscores for stuff on Xbox Live, then yeah I could understand this anti-cheater mentality Microsoft has, but...someone fill me in?
