[UPDATE] Microsoft Devastates Autistic Child By Labeling Him a Cheater

I for one believe Microsoft here, putting aside the fact that the kid is autistic and that somehow means he can't be a cheater, because that makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER.

What is more likely?

1.) Kid obsessed with achievements cheated and doesn't want to be labeled a cheater (well DUH he doesn't want the label)

or

2.) Microsoft gets its kicks off of fucking with kids with disabilities, and this will somehow benefit the company financially

or

3.) Microsoft's ban-software made a mistake, and when they were contacted by the kid.....see #2

So yeah, I'm gonna go with "people like to cheat"

I know it's easy to side with the kid with a disability over the big company, but come on people, use your heads.

Well guess what kid: you're being treated like everybody else.

If you don't like it, well, then you get to be shunned for being different. Can't play both.
Exactly, why do people think because he has a disability he can't be in the wrong here?

Uh, my foot doesn't work, now the IRS is being a complete asshole because it *thinks* I didn't pay my taxes, I'm going to take this to the most legitimate news station that NEVER dramatizes stories, Fox News.

Did I mention that the kid did, in fact, cheat? Because he did.

You can all stop with your "Well, if he did cheat, then" statements now. Please?
Yeah, and people will stop saying "This is news? My God, if this is news then blahblahblah [not so clever pun here] blahalh."

Sometimes you have to take a step back and ask: Why is this a story worthy of coverage from a news station? A game site, sure; but a broadcast affiliate in a major city? Really?
Because it's Fox News, they make their money off of acting like everyone is a Nazi and war is being declared on Christmas and kids with disabilities are being shot out of a cannon into the fucking sun.

I personlay hate achievements/trophies as they give nothing rewarding really
ok, wait,

first you state that the kid should have never bein taken from his "single player" achievements no matter what

and then you state that you hate achievements/trophies and they do more harm than good

then what do you think the people that DO care about such things would think?? that its "OK" to cheat for something they worked hard to get?

its an awfull double standard you are putting up there pal, does him being autistic puts him in a higher place where he doesnt have to follow the rules everyone else does?? i dont think so

MS wants his customers happy, if you dont care about achievements then good for you!!, but there are people who actually DO care about gamerscore, and they work really hard, for days on end to get them, then why does some kid, regardless of "illness" or whatever should be allowed to cheat his way up in the score the others worked so hard to get??

what would you think if you were playing... i dont know, BASEBALL for all your life, and a guy comes and beats you in every single way, and then you discover he was using steroids???

my guess?? you would be pissed, you would yell UNFAIR! and go to the autorities to sort things out

same concept
Didnt read past what you wanted to see ehh, singleplayer achievements/trophies effect nowone but the person who unlocked them,if he cheated online then i see wrong,if he didnt then who did he harm?
Im sorry i dont play rounders.lol or care about lossing any game on any console as its A GAME!
& iv had this view longer than M$ showed they cared about peoples achievements,as long as you aint cheating online you harm nowone,& if you need to cheat to earn an achievements/trophy then go right ahead because the only real loser is the person who cares about a another persons score!
P.S. why take things out of context, bad habit people with no views take

What does Microsoft have to gain from picking on an Autistic kid? He obviously cheated, it's the only explanation that makes any sense.

I think that's wrong to stick cheater by their name. I don't think he cheated. Autistic children/adults are unbelievably smart & talented. Sure they have difficulty talking & making eye contact with others, but that's why his one release was his Xbox Live. He didn't have to converse with people directly. His mom wouldn't have anything to do with it, and neither would him. Just because Microsoft says he cheated doesn't mean he did. They just want to complain about how someone who can beat their games without cheat codes is bad for business.

I am sticking up for the little guy because SOMEONE has to!! I know what it's like to have a medical disability & be treated like dirt.

Well, he cheated...and consequences come along with that, whether or not hes autistic. Just because your autistic doesn't mean you get a free card for stuff like this. Microsoft doesn't gain anything out of it, but nor should they take some "special consideration" into this just because he is autistic. Thats just silly.

Hopefully his mother will release the details that Microsoft sent to her. They seem pretty confident that he was cheating and it would be interesting to see their explanation.

Umm the update says that it is confirmed that he did add hacked achievements onto his console... so ah, have fun sticking up for him.

Oh alright, then I must have misunderstood your post, I kind of didn't understand the first line, and saw the "not happening buddy" and thought you were saying Microsoft was full of shit.

Never mind then.

I'm glad we're on the same page though. =)

you..........do know that they put Cheater besides ANYONE who modified anything on their 360, right?

not just this one kid or other autistic people?

also, go back and re-read the article and prepare for MIND=BLOWN.....

the kid, DID, cheat.

also, just to pick on something real quick.......

Autistic children/adults are unbelievably smart & talented.

you...sure you want to go with that as your answer?
Wow dude so messed up...first of all you are both wrong.

Autistic kids SOMETIMES are very talented in one isolated area.

For example the kid in your picture seems to be good at drawing cats or legos or something.

But this "savant" nature does not always occur and it depends on the type of autism.

OT: This kid is being treated like anyone else. If he cheated he deserves to be punished. Kudos to Microsoft for not backing down.

If MS said he cheated...well...he probably cheated...

I don't really see why people obsess over achievement points anyway, just seems like the CoD generations pathetic attempt to give their hollow and meaningless games ( and occasionally existences )artificial meaning but hey whatever floats your boat. Back on topic this just looks like another case of the media seeing "autistic child wronged by evil corporation" and running it to the dribbling masses. A cheater is a cheater, i don't care if you have cancer, autism, balding hair or you lost your job: reap what you sow

Why is that wrong, he definitely cheated why cant he have that labelled on his Profile?

And i believe your thinking along the lines of kids with Aspergers Syndrome, those kids have a hard time socially but are generally good in one area. Or Autistic Savants who are incredibly talented at certain things (see: Kim Peek). REGULAR autistic kids (depending on severity) can go from being able to meld into society pretty easily, to severely handicapped who can barely do anything by themselves.
