Yeah, Cinemablend (the website Escapist links to) says that most games ran on devkits, and only one game (LocoCycle) was being run on a PC because it hadn't been fully ported yet. Now, curiously Cinemablend only mentions this in the comments for the article instead of actually editing the article, but hey.Zolrak 22 said:Found this on cinemablend, http://i.imgur.com/ixRnGg0.png .
I see no reason why he'd lie but we'll see.
If history is anything to go by, the Xbox One will be making heavy use of Microsoft's Direct X API's so honestly, there's no reason those wouldn't run on both an Nvidia and an AMD card right now. Especially since there's probably very little optimization going on for Xbone hardware yet. until you get into those hardware specific optimizations, there's really no difference in the software that is run on either card.J Tyran said:This too, why/how are they playing on the PC with Nvidia hardware when the Xbone will be AMD hardware?
Sorry! A majority of the news staff don't work at all over the weekend (we need a break too!), so I'm afraid some stuff that gets posted on Friday afternoons has a habit of slipping through the cracks until Monday.ciasteczkowyp said:This information was published on friday or over the weekend, you're really slow to report this my dear magazine ;/
I think I'll stay with PC forever at this rate.
Considering what xbone architecture is suppose to be, 1 hyper-V hypervisor, 1 general purpose VM, running a stripped down version of Windows and 1 gaming dedicated VM.kael013 said:OT: So MS lied to us about something else; does this really surprise anyone? Now the real question is - since the games were being played on a PC running an Xbone OS - does this mean that we won't have to wait forever for a emulator to be made?
It's a matter of optics at this point. We except that previews of stuff for upcoming but unreleased consoles will be shown off on a PC. But there are legitimate ways to do that, and there are cheesy ways. Using a PC that is a legitimate Dev kit or is at least a close approximation of it is fine. Simply hanging up a sign saying demo is running on a PC of similar specs, actual console hardware is not available yet is forgivable. But egads! Stuffing overclocked over powered monster rigs in hidden cabinets, that use radically different hardware? It's beyond cheesy.TsunamiWombat said:E3 Demos ALWAYS run on PC rigs. This isn't new. It's been that way for forever. There are plenty of reasons to poopoo the Xbox One (and i'm on the bandwagon here) but this isn't one of them.
PS: Ps4 Devkits is code for "PC's with comperable specs to the ps4"
And it still crashed. I imagine if it were a real Xbone, it would have RROD'd. Or whatever the Xbone's equivalent might be.Daymo said:It's not that it's running on a PC, it's that it's running on system specs far above what the actual Xbox One will be using that is the main thing here.piinyouri said:Aren't most or all games being shown at E3 running on PC's?
I always thought that was standard practice as it would be easier to control what happens.
Like Windows 8.SpAc3man said:This isn't news.
They would be stupid to demonstrate on unfinished and unstable tech.
luvd1 said:Of for Christ sake. It's Monday morning, can't the universe just give Microsoft a break for a few days? What did Microsoft do to you to bring you such delight in tripping it over and kicking them in the balls?
Probably because of PhysX. Nvidia announced that it will add PhysX support to consoles, but AMD GPU's on the PC can't run it properly.bravetoaster said:Would someone mind explaining or linking to an explanation, though, of why nvidia vs AMD would matter in their rig?
