This is the first time that I thought all the starters sucked. I mean come ON! You have three options to choose from and each one has two other forms to look badass! How do you screw that up?

The Grass starter looks even more awesome now. And the water one doesn't look half bad.

Fire looks...passable at best. Though I never did choose fire... well except for Blaziken. All sorts of fetishes involved in that choice... :3

..Is that the Pokemon version of a battleship for the water starter?

They don't look so bad.

..They don't look so great, either.

Am I the only one that still finds them appaling? They look horrible. The stages skip physical features and the resulting pokemon have basically no similar attributes.

I sort of dig the patterns on the pig, but even that looks way too fucking bloated and unrestricted. Don't just clutter design elements on them and make them look generically 'epic'.

Here's a guide on how to design good Pokemon:

Dragonair -> Dragonite, man. Just saying.

The only one that's a stretch is the Water one - the others clearly share the same design theme - and that gets a pass because it looks awesome and graceful.

I was originally going to go with the grass snake but seeing the final form of the otter makes me thing otherwise. I mean a pokemon with a weapon on its back is pretty much instant win.

Also I wonder how long until these pictures get ruled 34? o_O

Ok the grass and waters look really cool. However once again, the fire one looks a little dodgy. I haven't seen a fire starter I like since Silver and Gold :S
You didn't like a fighting-fire monkey?!

Wow.
these look Awesome!

Though i cant help but think that the Artists were playing Spectrobes while designing them.
And that's not really a bad thing.

Spectrobes gave me a Cactus Dragon.
CACTUS.
DRAGON.
And it is one of the coolest things i have ever seen.
The water type reminds me of
Just not quite as cool.

If these "leaked" images of the final evolutions for the Pokemon Black & White starter critters are legit, I take back everything bad I ever said about that stupid-looking otter.

The only one I'm not on board with is Pokabu's evolutionary line. Oh sure, it looks fine, but it also looks like it'll turn out to be a Fire/Fighting type - just like the other two fire-type starters before it. Yes, Fire/Fighting is a great type mix, but do we really need a third one in addition to Blaziken and Infernape? Really?

Whether real or not, it's a cool-looking set - and with the Japanese launch of Pokemon Black & White right around the corner (September 18th), we'll learn either way soon enough.

Hmmm.
I can see Pokabu as a Fire/Fighting.
But to me it actually looks more like a Fire/Rock Type.

Nintendo, I am disappoint. I imagined the fire piglet Pokemon evolve in something like this:

But ON FIRE!!!

How awesome would thát be?!

Because the 4th generation was the best generation yet? And 5th looks to be adding some awesome stuff too?
Eh I beg to differ. I always found the Pokemon starting to get more and more over-designed after the second generation. Too many bells and whistles, too many patterns and stuff, not animal-like enough.

That's not saying the first 2 generations didn't have some absolutely stupid designs. Magnetite...sériously? How does that...thing (can you even call it an animal?) reproduce?

I don't think they would ever hand out a potential dragon type at the very beginning of the game. Too powerful.

And as for the Big Pig, that looks to me like it actually be Fire/Rock or /Ground. And that would be cool.

But I still don't know. I'm more than content with HeartGold, and it took long enough for the Gen 4 Pokemon to grow on me. I don't know if I want to go through that whole "getting used to 100+ new Pokemon" thing again, even though the battles look much cooler, and 3 on 3's made me squeal with glee.

And just like that, Thousand of doujin authors are working hard on the new designs and how they..."Relax" after a tough battle.

You know, this will be the first pokemon game actually want to play.
