Nope, sorry, I still hold to my opinion that these are the dumbest starters to date...well, okay, they're about on the same level as the Diamond and Pearl starters, still disappointing though. And why is the grass starter ALWAYS a reptile, can't they get a bit more creative than that?

I now can't decide between the grass type and the water type. This will probably be the first Pokemon game where I won't use the fire type because (IMO anyway,) it looks... dodgy to say the least.

I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping the Grass starter would evolve into a Hydra. Still, it looks decent, and the water one looks much better than I thought it would. The only one I don't like is the fire one. But I've always hated the first starters, so this comes as no surprise to me.

I still think the grass one would look better with 2 extra heads.

Am I the only one who thinks that these look more like Spectrobes-based parodies of the starters than legit evolutions? Because the patterns on that Fire type look pretty familiar...

The Grass and Water starters look great although the first evolution of Pokabu (Fire) looks a bit silly, however it's final version looks cool.

God damn, i'l have to buy this now.

No. No, they can't be the real designs... no, no, no... what have they done to Pokemon? These are... horrible. How can anybody even fathom the possibility that they look even remotely well designed?! These better be fake. I mean, why does the grass starter lose its limbs? Why does the otter turn into a unicorn? Why did they recycle the magmar design? Why don't they look imposing at all? You know how physically intimidating charizard is? You know how hideous swampert is? They look like beauty pageant pokemon, not pokemon that are designed to fight each other.

Yeah, it's milotic. The final grass starter design is just a green milotic. Please be fake, please be fake.

This is the first time I've truly hesitated about getting a fire starter pokemon. Charmander was easily the most appealing starter of the first generation (if not the whole series) both for his strength and his appearance throughout his evolutionary line, Cyndaquil was still pretty awesome and Chimchar was cool as well. Pokabu looks alright but his evolutionary forms look pretty stupid, especially the second form, which also looks to be YET ANOTHER Fire/Fighting type as if two weren't enough. Seriously can it really be that hard to come up with interesting fire type combos?

Anyway, these other forms look alright, of the three I'd say the grass type is best looking overall, being very solid in appearance and consistent.

Because the 4th generation was the best generation yet? And 5th looks to be adding some awesome stuff too?
Eh I beg to differ. I always found the Pokemon starting to get more and more over-designed after the second generation. Too many bells and whistles, too many patterns and stuff, not animal-like enough.

That's not saying the first 2 generations didn't have some absolutely stupid designs. Magnetite...sériously? How does that...thing (can you even call it an animal?) reproduce?
I wasn't talking about Pokemon designs, I was talking about gameplay.

So that means Milotic is just a Gyarados? and Bidoof is just a beefier Rattata, and Starly is just a Pidgey.

Seriously, most designs will cross each other, it's just like Nidoking and Rhydon from the first gen.

And it lost it's limbs because it's the Grass SNAKE Pokemon.

Those look pretty cool, but there are some awesome fakemon on youtube. I saw this one, it was made out of a Rapidash, an Arcanine, a Ninetails and a Typhlosion, all fused into a wicked cool ground type, with a little recoloring.

I'm still hoping these are the real last evolutions. At least the fire type still looks like a pig in this one lol. And the water type stays an otter instead of a water unicorn type thing.

Water and grass (possibly grass/dragon? which would be epic) look awesome, but the fire still looks stupid. And fire/fighting type again? That was one of the most horrid combinations ever. It had so many weaknesses that it was worthless. Really sad 'cause I would normally start with fire...

The final fire evolution reminds me of ManBearPig for some reason. The final grass evolution looks quite cool as well.

when will these creators just sit down for five minutes take a good long look into each others eyes and just unamamously agree to just let the pokemon series die with whatever dignity it still has left rather than scrape it out over another few bad remakes.
Probably when Ash becomes a Pokemon master. Seriously, the world could end Sept. 18 and people would still be trying to pick up Black and White. It will never end. It is like Disney now except they don't have a theme park and their own channel, at least not yet.

That I can agree with. The latter games are lot more streamlined, a lot more varied, a lot richer than the first couple games.

Just the variation in environments alone made Sapphire one of my favourite Pokemon games.

Ok, I'm not good with words, but here goes. Maybe someone can explain it better and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

One reason I'm not sure if the pokemon showed on the first page is real, the water otter pokemon. It's second evolution stands on two feet with two arms. While its final evolution walks on all fours.

So by looking at the pictures, it seems that the second evolution would be capable of learning an attack such as Ice Punch. However, it's final evolution wouldn't be capable of learning something like this because it's on all fours.

Basically, by evolving, it looks like the otter pokemon would be losing out on some moves, something that's never happened in previous pokemon games.
