Fuuuck! I remember when this game was first announced, and bloody hell!

Arrgh, i knew it was always going to be pretty shit, but ffs, at least they could have actually done something!

I could have made the game on my own in less than 12 years!

How did they expect to keep getting funding if they didn't have anything to show for all the work they had being putting in over 12 years?

They must have been spending the development money on booze and hookers ... and gum.

So this is the punch line for the lamest jokes in gaming. It would have been good if it was released after 20 years to be one of the greatest games ever but that was never going to happen.

Nooo! I wanted to kick ass and chew bubble gum! I'm all out of gum! I've been all out of gum for 12 damn years!
*gives a nick* I'm sorry Charlie, you'll just have to go and buy some. There all out of ass to kick, so gum is what it'll have to be.

Maybe that's their way of telling us the dev team has been in a car crash. Has the dev team been working on other things too? Or are they just really low on Ideas?

So I guess that it means it will continue to not exist?
*sigh* with Duke Nukem Forever, the little interest I had in it has been reduced such that I take more interest in watching my screen saver than it (however it is still slightly above paint drying). Of course they might end up with a Gem, but I'm not getting my hopes up :(

That's it. I can't take this crap anymore. I'm sick of the lame DNF jabbing this site does when they want to be funny.

Droves of people are losing their jobs, and you people think they deserve it? Really?!

No no, how dare they make their game for a long time. The nerve of trying to refine things.

Of course, when TF2 came out, everyone foamed at the mouth and cheered hooray for Valve, it was worth the wait, and so on. The same goes for Chinese Democracy. Even WINE was positively received.

I think at least half of you never even played a Duke Nukem game, and just jumped on the bandwagon.
Yes, it is unfortunate that people are losing their jobs. But DNF has become a joke. There's a difference between refining a game and taking 12 years and releasing nothing. It's not medical research they're doing, it's a video game. They need a dead line. And no where has the site claimed that the people at 3D Realms deserve anything they get. But as has been stated before, it's unfortunate, but has become a joke to itself and an embarrassment to the company.

Off-Topic: Duke Nukem Forever and ever and ever...

No sympathy here. 12 years and not much to show for it. What could they possibly have been doing all that time? You'd think they could have at least put together a demo level in 12 stinking years!

What a surprise that taking 12+ years to make a game causes you to go out of business. I never would have guessed.

Guess I've gotta go buy Painkiller and Serious Sam now.

If 3DR do go under there is a fantastic chnace the game will be bought by another gaming company that will try to revive it.

I'm definately saddened. It would have been interesting to see what they've been working on for these long 12 years and how they thought they could compete in the arena of modern shooters. I wouldn't say that I'm grieving(even though I did make a comic strip [http://www.epictail.com/2009/05/07/forever-dead/] devoted to this event), but still I would have loved the game to live on. Maybe somebody with more money will buy this corpse.

If I were to die tomorrow, I don't think I'd be laying there (or doing whatever as my life slips away) regretting that I never got to see a finished DNF. Still, at this point I just wanted it to be finished just to see what they came up with. The actual game play itself would probably take a back seat to just seeing what the hell they thought required over a decade's worth of development work to accomplish.

Wait... they have a plan?!!? Ten hypothetical quid says that the 'plan' for DNF closely resembles the Daikatana plan. And we all know how well that turned out...!

Now all that remains is for historians to attempt to discover what exactly they were doing all this time.
Jacking off, but "Making Duke Nukem Forever" sounds a lot more constructive.

It was bound to happen sooner or later.
Personally I just saw Duke Nukem as just another generic shooter series with some attempts as wise cracks so I was never really finding any interest in a game that was clearly never going to be released, when was the last time they even showed a trailer that had actual game footage?

Thats Duke Nukem Trilogy, not Forever. DNT is made by another company for Nintendo DS and PSP.
