It annoys me when religious people claim that they're facing discrimination because they aren't allowed to put the ten commandments on public buildings or mandate prayer in schools. Bonus points for when they immediately turn around and decry the middle east for being an Islamic theocracy.
EDIT: I find it amusing that I happened to post this right after the previous comment...
IM not saying religious people are being discriminated against, just its tiring to see the constant fighting and demonizing of religion as more and more young people say they're atheist without really grasping the concept of what it truly means.
...
its actually kinda hard to explain why I feel this way, since Im Catholic and have that on the outside looking in relationship with atheism.
I understand what you mean by the outside looking in thing; just about 2 years ago i was a pretty religious Lutheran, have since turned agnostic, so I've seen this from both sides of the fence. Back when I was very religious, i felt sorta the same way you feel about the common atheistic attitude towards religion, and i despised most of the strongly atheistic people who talk out against religion. but ever since i came to terms with my faith and became agnostic, i find myself increasingly agreeing with some of it. I'm growing to have a serious problem with how people use religion. Note, i don't think religion is inherently bad, but what I think is bad is how many people use it; many people use religion as a reason or to justify varying levels of intolerence, but most of all i dislike how many people refute basic science simply in the name of religion. I don't mind whatever people believe, but people cannot choose to ignore scientific facts simply because of beliefs.
