You realize you picked two of three best animated programs on the planet (Phineas and Ferb being the third)... not the other 90% of the dreck, right? Should I have clarified that MLP's faults can be found in 90% of all children's programs, and almost 99% for the intended age group?
I don't see how that isn't downplaying his legitimacy for what's already a subjective opinion regardless.

I watch a series where the embodiment fuel of the main villain and monster of the weeks are even the vaguest and most human of faults.

Guy who was never introduced besides a background character : "Oh, I really dislike that this line is taking so dang long, but that would rather be selfish, wouldn't it?"
Recurring Villain Summoner :"HHE ALREADY CORRECTED HERSELF? Eh, for some strange reason, that's still enough to get a GIANT ENEMY CRAB out of the utter hate of inconvenience."

I don't mind if people dislike it for the technicolor designs which aren't even my favorite of the franchise, the hammy friendship obsession, and the busybody lead character. Since even if someone does the exact same thing like Kamen Rider or Power Rangers/Super Sentai, the execution and combination of the same faults have different context and appeal.

There's a point where you're also giving no reason to not just watch the shows with the same faults and why it shouldn't be considered this amazing thing.

Also I liked Kick Buttowski, Sym-bionic Titan, and Motorcity WAAAAAAAY more than Phineas and Ferb.

EDIT: Also numerous experiences has told me just holding hands and expecting happiness throughout has lead to the most dreadful things I've witness.
For example, just about every anime club I've been apart of.
Ah, Smile Precure.
Just about the one thing that made me physically sick more than MLP. I still can't remember why I started watching it.
I did enjoy Sym-Biotic Titan, myself, but I'm a big fan of Genndy Tartakofvsky.

but at the very least I don't want it in my face.
This is the most common complaint of them all, but I have to ask...

Who exactly is putting it in your face?

The guys in the news article certainly aren't. The people in this thread aren't, and even if they were, you could just simply NOT click on this thread, and it would no longer be in your face.

So who then?
The fact it's even being purported as "news" gets me riled.
I'm going to draw a parallel:
Recently, there was a child born in the Royal Family.
Newspapers and television channels went ape-shit over it, having live streams from the hospital.
One newspaper website gave the option to not show Royal baby-themed content.

I would like to see such an option exist today.
When I see such a title as above, I have my curiousity kick in before my mental preservation, and I think "What's happened now?"

The dacia ... I mean the US airforce has a squadron consisting entirely out of furries.
You know like in that weird CSI episode with those disgusting animal suit people yiffing all over each other.
I'm sure if you're aware, but most furries aren't bronies; some might say that bronies are more extreme versions of furries, but I would like to distance myself from them.
Well, let's look at some MLP fanart...

Nope, can't show that...
No...
Wait, what?
That's an "interesting" crossover..
No
With urotsukidoji? Seriously?
What's ... I don't even...
*turns it sideways* With a melon?
And the point of that comment was?
I don't know what your problem is, but if you're getting "urotsukidoji" in your results (which is nice for a completely ignorant member of the public to learn about, THANKS!), you're not neccesarily looking at the best examples of fan art.

That's not exactly a fair comparison.

It's not like the Escapist is swamped with brony threads and news articles (unless you happen to be a time traveler from two years ago).

In that case, I'm sure the Escapist provides a feedback form somewhere, where you can request that they not post news articles like this one in future.

If you ask me though, they post news articles on Games of Thrones, and other TV shows, why should news items about this particular TV show be banned?

If I'm to be brutally honest here, I still think it's a self-control issue. If someone can't avoid clicking on threads and news articles about stuff they don't like, then perhaps the problem isn't with the Escapist...

Continuing that notion, it was one single major event that your noted website put the filter on. If you're suggesting similar filters here, to be in place all the time, what should they be for? MLP, what else? Some people hate COD, so let's include that in the filters. Some people hate Nintendo, some Jim Sterling, some Moviebob, so let's give the option of filtering them out. Where do you stop? Wherever it is I can guarantee that people will then be annoyed that their own personal peeve wasn't included.

I hope you can see that the whole idea starts to smell a bit of ridiculous, not to mention the work required in implementation. Surely the simpler and more effective solution that ensures no-one is left out, is to place responsibility for 'filtering' on each and every user. If you look at the headline or accompanying picture and don't think the story is one for you, then just move on and don't click. If you're thinking "What's happened now?" and click anyway there's little blame that can be laid if not at your own feet.

(Sorry, this post was rather off-topic, but I don't think I could say anything I'd want to say here any better than Caramel Frappe already did at the bottom of page 4.)

So your saying the pilots in your country are too wussy to like ponies? Its ok, not every county can be manly.
Can't speak for English, Welsh and Irish elements of the RAF but as far as Scotland goes, our national animal is the Unicorn which I feel trumps a unit patch.

I think this thread contains about three or four reasonable people in it.

Everyone else seems utterly concerned with attacking/defending a show - and the subculture it's spawned - with a zeal not seen since the third crusade.

Both sides are stupid. One for starting an argument instead of just moving along, one for feeling so offended that someone doesn't like something they like that they have to practically prove the other side right about how bronies have to write or draw their obsession into everything by filling the thread with pony fan art.

Whatever happened to liking things quietly and discussing it with other people who like that thing?

TheOrb said:

It's news, at least here, because it's a sort of quirky event that will draw in some readers who are interested in sticking ponies on stuff. It's pretty soft news, yeah, but it qualifies.

Your avatar is a catgirl shaking her tits. Glass houses man, glass houses.

And I can pretty much guarantee that all of your examples of MLP fanart can be countered with equally insane examples from Transformers; the only difference is that MLP died in the 80's, Transformers didn't so we've had 20 additional years of this insanity. That and Kiss Players happened; so whatever depravity the fans cook up for MLP, it will never be as bad as Kiss Players, because that shit was official.

I don't watch MLP, but I am truly impressed with the fanbase.

The amount of fanmade stuff almost borders on the fanmade Touhou stuff.

Speaking of Touhou, I want a Gensokyo Defense Squadron.

Is that you again TopazFusion?

But this is really weird, in two days I recieved two warnings for posts that in the past wouldn't have raised an eyebrow.

Not really a massive fan of the show after season 2 (plus most of my favourite shows getting ponies plastered all over them) but it would be awesome if the Military or Navy or even RAf started using the Decepticon/Cobra logo.

I'd also love to point out that for a while now there have been people who love other shows as they usually do but then suddenly a brony or two will come around and slap ponies onto another fandom and claim it's made the show "better and 20% cooler" when all that does is force their opinion onto someone else and tries to replace the original fandom that someone originally likes and yes that can rile people like me up and I especially don't like the bullshit argument of "if it's bothering you so much just look the other way".

no that argument does not work at all if I've been somewhere first and then someone comes in second to replace my fandom with theirs and tell me to jog on somewhere else because that's not how the world works I'm afraid.

Yes, but I didn't get a warning for that and that didn't get censored.
And as you can clearly see, that is a pun.

Might it have been from the fact that you equated all students in that US squadron as MLP fans[footnote]and in doing so failed to comprehend the original story, which stated that the students weren't actually fans, that the badge was a joke submission and that, despite not being fans the students took it in good humour rather unlike the general reaction here..[/footnote] - and possibly then by extention all MLP fans here, who funnily enough seem to be congregating in this thread - as belonging to an oft-ostracised fetish group, which you then described as disgusting?

If you feel it was unjust you could try appealing it..

There's a reason why I usually never click on threads that have anything to do with the MLP show, and this is it. First, it's idiots claiming that liking the show is wrong, and after that, it's idiots defending the show by claiming something really stupid like "If you don't like you're insecure/not manly enough.
OT: Good for the pilots, i guess?

I can easily replace a fandom as if it were a meager tangible object? I must master this power and use it for my own gains...

Well, let's take a look at some of the other patches that have been sported around Vance Air Force Base:

I suspect we're dealing with a group of pilots who just have a sense of humor. It's not exactly far-fetched to think someone would drum up a Pony-themed one to add to the collection.
Nothing too special about it, methinks. Now shut up and enjoy the novelty.

I wanna say that this is either stupid or depressing but... I have watched some episodes of FiM and it genuinely IS a good and well-written show. I'd say it's easily one of the best kids shows I've seen in this time, and really just a pretty damn good show in general.

And besides, I don't think cutie marks are gonna make the Air Force any more ineffective. They're still badasses; they're just badasses that happen to have patches referencing FiM. That isn't bad.

1. The Decepticoms and Cobra are in order a group machine supremacists bent on genocide and a terrorist organisation, yeah I can't imagine why the RAF or US Army haven't embraced those symbols in the past twenty seven odd years.

2. People who do as you describe are generally just trolls, and they ruin shit for everyone. They'd probably have a harder time of it thigh if the Internet didn't always hit fucking DEFCON 2 when someone mentions MLP though but that's as much our fault as anyone else's, even I admit the first few months of the shows airing was...jubilant to put it mildly.
