I kinda see this community rage as being akin to biting the hand that feeds you.
Don't be such whiney little children, Valve are one of the only software developers that still make consistently awesome and community driven games.

Shut up and take your rage somewhere it's deserved, like an xbox customer service centre or your milk bottle.

I'm sure the majority of complaints come purely because content was promised, this without a doubt convinced a considerable amount of people to purchase Left 4 Dead 1

EDIT: Yes I know there are other reasons, please don't flame me fanboys.

Wow just wow. people still think that games are some kind of service. Learn this morons, games are a thing that is designed by the developer with a vision that they get on their dreams or something i have no idea. If you feel that the game must fit YOUR needs the gladly keep on boycotting and making shitty petitions. We all know who still wins. Microsoft and Valve. But the fiddle music. NOW That is messed up, Yeah it might be a desing choice to feel the game differently but gawd. Fast phased violin and orchestra or sting rock style would fit it more nicely than fiddle... But heck i mean to all its own. Just know that games are made by a developer and they really don't give jack sh1t about what ever you fanboys think. they care about more for the new comers to the series and the critics because that is most of their inexpensive recommendation.

You obviously seem far more mature than anyone who has a legitimate complaint with the game. Did you ever think that possibly it was "difficult to patch" because their dev team was spending all their time developing a new game? Did you ever think maybe it wasn't difficult to patch, maybe it just wasn't as profitable? What am I saying, of course you did, you're vastly more intelligent than any of the 23,000 members in the boycott group. Kudos to you good sir.

I guarantee 80% of the people in that boycott group won't be able to resist and will buy it anyway.

I guess we'll see. I know I won't be buying it. There are plenty of great games on the market coming out this fall.

My lord, what is wrong with people. You know that quote at the end of the ZP videos about fans, this proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt to be correct.
Right, it has nothing to do with the fact that people don't like to be taken advantage of. This isn't about fanaticism, its about smart consumerism.

You are probably right, but honestly through all this it just seem that no matter what people wont be happy. If a sequel isnt released in time they ***** about "where is it" bla bla. If its released too soon its being taken advantage of. There is always something, thats my point i guess.
I find people bitching about sequels not being released in adequate time far more annoying than people complaining because they feel cheated by having invested in a product that was never supported in light of the fact that the developer was working on another project which would render the original release obsolete.

The developer didn't put enough effort/content/etc. into their first 50$ title to make it seem (to me) like it was worth $50, and now they're asking for another $50 if you want to continue to play the franchise. Sure the original game will still be there, but really who's going to play it?

What really annoys me, is that there are so many people willing to buy L4D2, it just reinforces this kind of business practice. Why bother supporting your software when there are millions of chumps out there willing to shell out another 50$ for minor content upgrades and slight graphical overhaul? Ethics? Who cares about ethics these days, certainly not valve, and apparenlty not the consumer either.

So what does a "boycott" actually do, is it anything legal (or to do with the legal system) or is it just a group of QQers, whiner babies and whingers?
It's a group of gamers who refuse to purchase L4D2 until their complaints are addressed. 23,717 gamers and growing to be exact.

L4D sold 2.5 MILLION copies (excluding Steam sales). 24,000 people compared to those sales isn't even 1% of the number of people who bought the first game.

In statistics, we'd call that "insignificant".

It's a sequel. How is it going to diminish the community? Also, L4D2 is based in the Deep South, where the cities are A) more colorful and B) feature fiddles and banjos. Those particular choices make *sense* to add to the gameplay.

I say they all need to put on their Pull-Ups and get to building that bridge.
