I mean, they had to work with EA, who were distributing the boxed copies for PC and 360, and they wouldn't have looked too kindly on a delay.Steelfists said:[snip]
I'm actually starting to wonder if Valve isn't just being clever here: what if this "sequel" is actually just a big DLC pack? Wouldn't that be incredibly strange, yet totally awesome? A sequel made through DLC... not many companies would have the stones to try and pull that, but in the case of Valve's favorite son(right now), wouldn't it make sense?TsunamiWombat said:For the record I neither mind the fiddle music, the new survivors, the daylight, or any of the asethetic or design changes.
I mind not getting them as DLC.
I'd rather a quality game than a rushed game. Thats the problem now adays, they rush them and the games suffer thanks to it.FoxParadox said:Wow, why aren't they gathering to complain about half life 2: episode 3? Getting mad for a game coming out too soon rather than one not coming soon enough?
So allow me to decipher this post. Valve made what they believe to be a subpar game and charged us full price for it. To rectify this situation instead of doing what they were supposed to do and give us more maps and whatnot for a reasonable price they are making a sequel to a game that should never have needed a sequel in the first place. And they will be charging us full price for it. And to top it off you expect us gamers to take it dry.WrongSprite said:Idiots. Actual idiots.
Most of that manifesto is either a) untrue or b) negative bullshit.
If they dont like it, THEN DONT BLOODY PLAY IT.
EDIT: Do they not realise that L4D1 was just a test, that valve weren't particularly pleased with?
Screw them, i'll be enjoying the sequel while they moan.

Well the A.I. Director is a dick....maybe it won't screw up on that front.OptimusHagrid said:The AI director is going to control things like weather and the skybox (afaik)PyroZombie said:Zombies in daylight suck, ruins the entire concept."Well atleast the shadows have been illuminated, we can't get snuck up on anymore", a quote in the near future. Now this little can be remedied, if they added a time-scape, as in dark at first, then gradually daylight.
I'm sorry to break this to you, but...PyroZombie said:I also do not like the new survivors, especially the one who looks like a recycled,human-textured scout. Again, easily remedied, add the original cast.
Louis, Zoey, Bill, Francis?
They're dead.
Remember the lighthouse level? The one with the tagline "It doesn't end well"? Exactly.
I never said it wasn't a legitimate complaint. It is. But, personally, I can't complain unless I know there's something to complain about. So, yeah, "hurr durr it doesn't matter to me." What's the problem?icnfde said:lol hurr durr I never knew about it so it doesn't matter to me.The Bandit said:The only legitimate complaint I see is that significant content was promised for L4D, but not delivered. Since I never, ever read any type of news deal pertaining to any Valve promises of keeping L4D fresh, I frankly don't give a shit. I considered the community breaking up in two to be a bad thing at first, before realizing the only people that would still play L4D would be these idiots.

It's all here.
In all honesty though it seems like people are complaining about the fact that Valve are one of the few decent gaming companies left that are Non-EA, non-Activision, non-Ubisoft. And by creating a sequel to a game that still could use a lot of work (a game which people paid full price for) gamers feel as if Valve are spiraling down the depths of Left4Dead 3, Left4Dead 4, Left4Dead 2011 etc. (which the former publishers mentioned do ALL THE TIME).
I was thinking precisely this when the L4D2 trailer came suddenly screaming out of the blue. But the more you think about it, the less likely it is - I mean, as a business model it's very flawed. Perhaps in the days when Valve programmed for PC alone it would have made sense.scotth266 said:I'm actually starting to wonder if Valve isn't just being clever here: what if this "sequel" is actually just a big DLC pack? Where do you hear bitching, i said i can understand there complaints. Quit your hate-mongering.Tidus53 said:If L4D2 is in the same time line as L4D, than the original guys maybe be alive or ACTUALLY RESCUED AFTER THE 7 RESCUE CALLS!!! And you think these boycotters would take the time to think that MORE than one group of survivors would try to fight for survival. Whatever you hate about the game is mainly because you can't accept change. If you don't like this new game, go back to playing the original and stop your bitching.
