Yes, it's obvious Valve prefers their PC gamers, but concerning the 360, all of this stuff would already be there and free were it not for Microsoft and their money-grubbing rules.
This is why there's no updates. Valve wants it free, Microsoft wants money for them.

The way I see it, Valve doesn't hate the PS3.

Gabe Newell does...
Facts:
- Gabe is Valve
- Gabe is Steam
- Gabe could eat a bear
Yeah...
And I hear that apart from eating endangered species,
he also eats baby kittens.
Still alive and breathing.

Damn you Gabe!

Seriously though, Gabe isn't Valve, Gabe isn't Steam, there are more than enough other people who also have plenty of influence concerning those projects.

The audience simply loved Gabe, so they gave 'em Gabe.

The reason valve haven't updated the 360 version of TF2 is because they're finding ways to get around the memory limit for the 360 ( or something along those lines )
I actually think that's an excuse to get away with the whole thing. Valve honestly dislikes console gamers. Its been 2 years, they are never going to do it.

I don't believe Valve hates console gamers. There is more things you can do on a PC than with a console.

Valve just likes to program for the PC more than the consoles, nothing wrong with that.

If they dislike anything it is the console, not the gamer. If someone dislikes a product that is fine. To dislike someone for buying that product is stupid.

Most western game companies prefer PC, except the first-party owned companies. But yeah, the PC lot will get special treatment purely because Valve are better people than Microsoft and don't want to make money as much as make the most awesome game they can.

Except it's the truth. They just don't like consoles, but they do like their fans (even though they complain about everything *cough*L4D*cough*). However their main fanbase is on the PC, it seems Valve has pretty much abandoned their console players in favor of their PC audience.
That makes a lot of sense from a business standpoint, go with your largest base.

They are trying to get around the memory limit for the 360. Also, L4D got the DLC before the PC...

I don't think they have abandoned them, Microsoft pry won't let them do the things they want to do on the 360.

how much money do they make from the console gamers? would you hate something that pays so well?
Chances are Valve actually makes like half what they get from the PC... because anyone and everyone who plays a Valve game on a console is an idiot. They probably get a lot more money out of Steam then they do selling shitty console ports of their games.

'Honestly dislikes'? Implying that a gaming company dislikes part of their fanbase for no reason other than they bought a console instead of a PC is perhaps a mite strong, isn't it?

They didn't even make the Orange Box for the PS3, so ohwell.
I respectively disagree.

What the good fellow meant comrade was that they didnt port it for the PS3 themselves.. Valve outsourced it because PS3 coding scares them.. and ate their kittens.. ;___; which explains why the port was utterly terrible.. and them not 'making' (read: porting) it for the PS3..

I think you're misinterpreting business decisions and platform hang-ups for an emotional response.

Most of the issues Valve have with the Xbox 360 lie at the feet of Microsoft having rules and system limitations on the system whereas Steam is a Valve product therefore they can do with it what they will and charge whatever they feel like charging for content (which is largely nothing).

As for the PS3, by now we are all well aware of how difficult it is to code for in comparison to the other consoles, so if things take a little while longer or aren't quite as good I would say a fair portion of the blame lies with Sony for trying to re-invent the wheel or as someone else hypothesized trying to become the new standard.

Well considering the amount of hate PC gaming usually gets from most of the big companies it just seems fair that one of them dislikes consoles.

Time plays absolutely no role in whether Valve will update release a game etc... You could argue the same thing for the PC. At the rate valve is going they will be supporting TF2 for the PC 2.5 years after release. October last year they updated HL. At that time Half Life was out for nearly 10 years.

They're going to focus on that and shovel out some crap so that the console gamers can buy what they don't have a computer to run.. but fuck it being supported.
So far Valve has released 2 games for consoles. The first of which they nearly pushed the 360 to its memory limits and to add more stuff, have to change almost everything. This means they haven't updated more than simple bugfixes. The second game they have updated with the PC and have even gotten one of their major updates to be free despite Microsoft's money grubbing hands.
