Last thing we need is another Duke Nukem forever... seriously thats the last thing we ever need. So Valve, I enjoy the TF2 updates here and there, but please get on the POINT and make Episode 3!

I'd just like to point out that saying the story is false doesn't mean they aren't working on it.

If I said, "The sky is blue because God is color blind" and someone says "False" does that mean the sky isn't blue?

In between Episode 2 and Now hasn't even been half the time it took for Duke Nukem Forever to come out.

And Valve have released how many games and content updates in the time between?

I have no idea where this vaporware label comes from.

Oh, that's actually quite depressing. Also, this game and Final Fantasy Versus XIII could be the next kings of vaporware.

....What?

How is Versus XIII vaporware? There's screenshots, information and gameplay footage.

Does noone understand that they are very likely developing a new game engine for half life 3? That they are trying to harvest hype and also make the game as good as possible? That this is their first "3" game? If you can think, you can easily understand the reasons for the delay.

"Episode 3 is well poised to take its crown as gaming's most infamous vaporware."

4-year-old game with no official announcement beyond, "we plan to do 3 episodes" versus game in development for 14 years that suffered many release dates, launch trailers, developers and official announcements.

I really don't see the point of comparison that everyone seems to.

Anyway, they probably are working on HL3, let's face it. Just because they say they aren't doesn't mean they aren't.
Agreed. If Valve had actually announced Episode 3 specifically, and maybe gave a release date or some-such, then I'd see how people can call it Vaporware. As-is it's just a bunch of people assuming that there is an Episode 3 based on a tentative announcement before the first episode was even out. Still, it'd be nice if they officially announced that they changed their minds about 3 episodes.

Some day Gabe Newell will stand up on a stage, reach into his coat and take out HL3. He'll then go on to say that it will be in stores worldwide in under an hour.

Some day....
This. Me and my friend have made bets on it happening. It'll be like what Microsoft did with the 360 Slim, except it will be Valve. And it will be awesome!

Going for a money swim?

So now he's Scrooge McDuck? Hmm, oddly fitting all things considered.

Though on topic, I honestly don't care too much about Half Life 3 anymore, all this waiting and rumors have made me pretty much made me apathetic to the whole idea.
Well if valve leave things for too long perhaps half life will have the same effect as the new duke, i honestally hope not but please give us a date at least valve!

Surprisingly, they aren't developing a new game engine. They have stressed this several times in the last year.

They also said (in one of the interviews that they did for Develop Magazine) that they are NOT just trying to hype up the game by staying silent, and that they would never do that to their fans. The reason we haven't heard anything is because they have nothing to tell us, except that we will indeed "ever" see Gordon Freeman again.

The lack of announcement tells me that they aren't quite sure what the game is going to be yet, so they're holding off on announcing anything until they know major things about it aren't going to change.

Yeah, that's a good idea, let's all push Valve into releasing something. ALWAYS WORKED OUT JUST FINE SO FAR, RIGHT TF2?

Seriously, I thought by now we'd all have learned how to be patient with Valve. Look up the HL2 "Beta" leak on the Combine... overwatch.. whatever wiki. And count how many chapters and concepts they completely cut. And interesting sounding ones, too.
If a game is a tree and the branches are its chapters, Valve is cutting all the good ones to make room for the rare excellent ones. That's why their games take so long and are so good. Really, they make like 3 games worth of content each time, but only stick with the top.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. Let them release it in 2020, I'm not in haste. I know it'll be a good game and (especially without details) I won't get hyped - I just trust in Valve's abilities.

Can we now all hold hands and puke rainbows, yes?

Honestly, I'd rather see what they can do with new IP. Slacken the reins and see what these boys are capable of instead of demanding sequels all the time. Maybe we end up with something even better.

I really like that idea too. All of Valve's new IPs over the last few years have been great. Granted, none of them started as in-house ideas (though Portal was close; it's very different than Narbacular Drop) but still. I'd be just as happy with a new IP as I would a HL game. And by "new IP," I don't mean something like Dota 2, of course.
