....What?
How is Versus XIII vaporware? There's screenshots, information and gameplay footage.
Agreed. If Valve had actually announced Episode 3 specifically, and maybe gave a release date or some-such, then I'd see how people can call it Vaporware. As-is it's just a bunch of people assuming that there is an Episode 3 based on a tentative announcement before the first episode was even out. Still, it'd be nice if they officially announced that they changed their minds about 3 episodes.Woodsey said:"Episode 3 is well poised to take its crown as gaming's most infamous vaporware."
4-year-old game with no official announcement beyond, "we plan to do 3 episodes" versus game in development for 14 years that suffered many release dates, launch trailers, developers and official announcements.
I really don't see the point of comparison that everyone seems to.
Anyway, they probably are working on HL3, let's face it. Just because they say they aren't doesn't mean they aren't.
This. Me and my friend have made bets on it happening. It'll be like what Microsoft did with the 360 Slim, except it will be Valve. And it will be awesome!ciancon said:Some day Gabe Newell will stand up on a stage, reach into his coat and take out HL3. He'll then go on to say that it will be in stores worldwide in under an hour.
Some day....
Well if valve leave things for too long perhaps half life will have the same effect as the new duke, i honestally hope not but please give us a date at least valve!Zirat said:Going for a money swim?
So now he's Scrooge McDuck? Hmm, oddly fitting all things considered.
Though on topic, I honestly don't care too much about Half Life 3 anymore, all this waiting and rumors have made me pretty much made me apathetic to the whole idea.
Surprisingly, they aren't developing a new game engine. They have stressed this several times in the last year.Dr.Cereal1 said:Does noone understand that they are very likely developing a new game engine for half life 3? That they are trying to harvest hype and also make the game as good as possible? That this is their first "3" game? If you can think, you can easily understand the reasons for the delay.
I really like that idea too. All of Valve's new IPs over the last few years have been great. Granted, none of them started as in-house ideas (though Portal was close; it's very different than Narbacular Drop) but still. I'd be just as happy with a new IP as I would a HL game. And by "new IP," I don't mean something like Dota 2, of course.Speakercone said:Honestly, I'd rather see what they can do with new IP. Slacken the reins and see what these boys are capable of instead of demanding sequels all the time. Maybe we end up with something even better.
