If RE3Remake can release while COVID-19 is on peoples minds and be fine, then the same can apply to LofUS II. You have people watching two popular virus movies on YouTube and Netflix. So people have no one to blame, but themselves for scaring their own selves like that.

To be fair, I think they delayed the game because of concerns of being able to distribute the game properly. Because a few weeks ago when they announced it, the delivery services where in strange place. Though they did play it off as sensitive to the virus concerns or whatever.

Honestly I think the release date now is damage control more than anything. They stated during the delay that the game was done, so the delay was not really for any other reason. But now the game is leaked (or the story is) so now they have to pull the trigger and release or risk it being ruined and hated on before people actually buy it.

Because......and this is a big scoop......the story dont sound so good this time. Which means if the leak is true and it has too much time to fester and spread, it will hurt sales especially once reviews hit and people learn that the leak was true and that the game aint the masterpiece they expect.

And that what happens when you get high on the hype or believe too much in it. I never hated the story of LofUs, but it was just another typical, cynical, zombie affair. The fact the press was hyping it as "The Citizen Kane of Gaming", was not helping. Naughty Dog ate that shit up, so they're just as responsible. There have been plenty of gaming stories done better than LofUs.

I thought the game had a crazy good opening act, but quickly became a whatever game 1/3rd of the way through.

I thought Horizon Zero Dawn has a much better story. God of War had a much better story. TLoU was not a super great game nor story imo. But people liked it, so it's a shame that people probably wont enjoy the next game as much. Then again....people are also upset that there even IS a part 2 and felt the original told a perfectly rounded story that doesn't need a follow up.

It's gonna be interesting to see how the narative turns out for this one.

I always felt that if you're going to do a Part II for this type of story, then focus on a compltely different cast of new characters. It's a zombie apocolypse; there are other lives going on than just Joel or Ellie.

So I read the story beats because I’m not bothered by it and don’t need another game on my plate any time soon. In a nutshell if it’s from the final script it’s a good example of why spoilers are...spoilers.

There’s no logical way simply reading some text without any context or buildup from actually investing in and playing the game can lead to anything but anticlimactic disappointment, regardless of how subjectively good or bad it actually is. It’s a bit like reading that someone very irrelevant to you died vs finding out the same thing about a close friend or family member. It must be one of the most frustrating parts of being an artist of any type.

I've heard and seen some of the spoilers myself. I honestly don't know what to think other than the fact this game must had suffered a lot of development issues if its leaking like this.

I didn't plan on playing this game to be honest. I had too much closure from the first game that I can't really get back into it.

Then that will just make this the year of greatly anticipated games that greatly disappointed; RE3 Remake, FF7 Remake, and then TLoU2.

Oof, I'm getting tired of games.

It doesn't bother me, I don't remember the last time something was spoiled for me outside of those fucking IMDB boards where the top threads were on the main page of any movie. TLOU2 was already looking like it had a troubled development, plus TLOU1 stands on its own so TLOU2 can't really ruin it. Naughty Dog has made like 2 and a half good games from this and last-gen (UC2, TLOU, and Lost Legacy) so it wouldn't have surprised me if TLOU2 ends up like the majority of their output. I wasn't banking on this being good so if it is good then cool; if not, it's par for the course.

Why was I misquoted? I didn't say that. It was Critical Gaming's comment.

I literally laughed out loud at what a cluster fuck the plot of the game is after reading the spoilers that I kind of want to play the game out of morbid curiosity.

Also ending aside, FF7R completely surpassed my expectations, but that's mainly because I wasn't really looking forward to it that much. 95% of that game is great whereas it seems like the Last of Us 2 as a whole is massive mess.

I listened to some spoilers and they actually make me a little more interested. The firs last of us age poorly in my mind, so I wasn't really looking at 2, but now, I don't know I might like to try it.

The thing that gets me is if we had these kinds of spoilers for all of Naughty Dog’s games - or perhaps most games in general - then this one could possibly be considered one of the more interesting, ambitious and downright risky as far as an actual plot goes. Let’s also keep in mind that Naughty Dog’s real strength has never been storytelling, but in crafting the performances that breath life into it. Something that no spoiler has jack sh*t on.

The fact that people are taking a crap on this kinda proves that’s the case, because let’s face it: if the first game was spoiled like this it would’ve read something like,

>In the near future, a brain fungus pandemic has ravaged humanity. Among them, a man named Joel loses his young daughter after she is shot by a soldier during the chaos, and he becomes heartbroken and bitter.

>Fast forward twenty years where what’s left of society has been split into factions, and Joel works as a smuggler with a woman named Tess. His group needs weapons and ammo bad, so in exchange for that he’s tasked by a woman named Marlene with smuggling a young girl named Ellie for a rebel militia group called the Fireflies. He doesn’t know why and he doesn’t care; he just knows he wants dem weapons.

>Along the way out of the city, they discover Ellie was infected but somehow immune from the virus. Joel then realizes why she’s important and why they need to get her to the Fireflies to find a cure. Tess later gets bitten and sacrifices herself so that Joel and Ellie can continue on.

>They travel across the country for nearly a year trying to find this group and meet some people that help them along the way. Joel and Ellie start to bond. Eventually Joel almost dies from a wound sustained in a fight, and Ellie takes care of him while recovers. Meanwhile she meets some cannibals and is held captive. She manages to kill her captor just before Joel finds her.

>They set off on the last leg of their trek and run into some giraffes. Ellie pets one. Eventually they are captured by the Firefly group and brought to a hospital in Salt Lake City. Marlene is there and let’s Joel know that Ellie is being prepped for surgery. He discovers that their plan to find the cure through her would involve removing a part of her brain, killing her. Joel says no way and kills Marlene, then escapes with a drugged up Ellie.

>He brings her to their friend Tommy’s place in Wyoming where she questions how she survived, feeling guilty. Joel lies and says the Fireflies found other immune people but couldn’t find a cure so they stopped trying. She says “OK.”

That’s basically the game. Does it sound like how it felt to play through it?

I have yet to see the spoilers out of respect for Naughty Dog. I may not care much for TLoUs franchise, but I do this for the wonderful fun and enterainment back when I was 8 years old in the PS1 days. Once the game comes out, and is posted on twitch/YT all bets are off. But for now, I give them their proper respect.

What's weird is they went so far as to issue refunds, as if it was never coming out. It seemed almost spiteful to the situation at hand. But since now they're releasing it anyways, it gives the impression there was never much of an issue in the first place. For DD, they could've just made a statement to keep customers aware that downloads will take longer due to bandwidth being dialed back. This really shouldn't be a time to have something like opening day/first week sales records as the utmost concern.

Exactly. No script will ever blow your mind. It's all about the execution.

As someone who doesn't care about spoilers it actually made me more interested in the game. I liked it and I'm really curious about the delivery. Really want to play Last of Us 2 now.

I've never minded spoilers because it's all about how it the plot is presented rather than the plot point itself. I save myself lots of time just reading synopses of popular things I have no interest in just to save myself time-investment.

Still, didn't care about the first game and not caring about the sequel. The only winning strategy is not to play (or get a Twitter account)

So, looking a bit into this, I am seeing that Naughty Dog said lord Anita actually affected in some way the development of this game. I'm very surprised because these people seem to be skilled developers. Ah well, at least now it makes sense that this game is messed up in various ways.
