Stupid money grabbing idoits!
Why would you want to do that?! The graphic novel was prefect and the movie was good, but another one would just be a waste of time.

Well everything I was going to post has already been done by everyone else so I'm going to say this: I'm disgusted that they think Watchmen can be turned into another cash cow but not to worry as so many fans will probably end up boycotting it anyway, should it happen.

I never read the comic, I absolutely loved the movie.
I strongly feel there should not be a sequel, it stands well enough on its own.

Kind of like V for Vendetta, would you make a sequel on that?

Pardon me for completely stating the obvious... but the source material has not gotten a sequel. If the thing you base your film on does not have a sequel, the film should not have a sequel.

No... Just no.

The story is perfect as it is... Don't touch it. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end. As Gibbons put it, adding to it isn't adding, it's diluting.

Haven't we ruined enough great things by "adding" to them? The original Star Wars Trilogy. The Matrix. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Stop "adding" to things that are perfect. Stop trying to milk things under the guise of "fixing" things that aren't broken.

Goddamnit... This kind of thing should be considered a crime.

I'd like to see it done if not only to slap Alan Moore in the face. While Watchmen was a good graphic novel/movie, and the concept was interesting, I'm really sick of his hippie/anarchist slant on everything and the fact the man is a complete psychopath. I honestly don't think that he does things for the "originality" then the shock value that it generates.

I would also gravitate towards the "no" group since the first film was adequate enough, but I still maintain that Moore is a fucking whiner who should have held tighter control over his own creations (a la Frank Miller) if he didn't want stuff like this happening.
So true. I, personally, quite liked Watchmen (the film). Sure, it was a bit long, but I found it worked fine. It was a lot closer to the graphic novel than I expected, although it was updated a bit (such as the costumes etc) and the odd thing was tweaked (like the fat guy in the prison where Rorshach is).

I've no real objection to a Watchmen sequel - I would still watch/buy/read it, but I'm failing to see how they would do it.

Uh... The Matrix wasn't "added too", it was meant to be a triliogy and written by the original writers. And I really don't understand what you mean by COD4, MW2 (while short) had an interesting storyline. I'll agree with Star Wars to an extent, but some of the Expanded Universe stuff is pretty good.

Like in my earlier post, I'd like to see it made just to piss off the creators, but in reality, you're right to and extent, the Watchmen Universe really doesn't have a lot more to offer.. maybe some prequels of the hero's past adventures... but there isn't a lot of material.

However, things like Star Wars and the Matrix DID have the potential and material to be more epic in scope. There is a lot of backstories, unexplored characters, unexplored places that many good stories could have come from them.... they didn't, but it could have been.

Even if Moore/Gibbons came back and did a sequel, it would still probably suck.

It's coming. Just watch.
It's already here!
Ironically, I think this is the only way to expand the Watchmen universe that might actually work, since Adrian Veidt actually made a point of exploiting the hell out of himself and his colleagues.

I hope not like an hour into that piece of shit I was thinking nuclear war was the best thing for it. How will they make a movie when the only remotely interesting character died already?

I think the movie was good, that is as close as anybody is ever going to get to the graphic novel. The movie had to be dumbed down for regular people going to see the movie. I think a sequel would be bad. They could maybe go back and do a movie based off of the two part video game of it and show Roarshack and Night owl when they were partners up until the keen act of 1977. But like I said it would be bad for them to try to do a sequel. That is the only thing I could think of as a storyline for the next watchmen movie. I thought it was pretty interesting how they did the video game part 1 and 2.
Crappy video game, Interesting storyline.

I know I spelled, somethings wrong in my post.

NO.

Hasn't Watchmen been treated badly enough already? They will NEVER be able to make a film that even approaches the complexity and scope of the graphic novel. This sequel should not be made.
The movie was good though.

It doesn't need a sequel, leave it alone!
