And we're currently 65 posts away from hitting the 5000 post mark.

What's the record for most posts in a single thread on this site?
How badly will the site explode when the mods forcefully shut down the thread?

Stay tuned folks, more after the break!

IL4Lyfe!

Anyway... good lord there's a lot of crap on one thread. I can't even bother to read past the first page without wanting to vomit and I've seen people's heads explode from .50cal rounds... no joke. Fuck me people, I mean seriously there's conversations and then there's a 4000+ reply thread that resembles -as I've put forth before- a trainwreck where the emergency crew decided to send in more trains at high speed to clean up the mess.
Hell even WWII Italy still had the trains running on time or something like that.

I know I know, I'm commenting on a comment thread about a post with way too many comments... commentception?

(btw, fun fact: As bad as ME3 was, no ME3 thread EVER got to 100 pages)
I kid, I kid. I know all about Zoe and her sexy misadventures.

I'm just a bit sad about the existence of that thread, so I gently poke fun at it via feigned disinterest. See how clever and subtle I am?

I'm SUPER clever and subtle.
Don't worry, I got it.

There's no physical way anyone could have missed that disaster of a thread.

OT: Merge the Quinnthread with the Illuminatithread.

I will die happy if this happens.

I can't imagine it being anything but the stickied "Old games you don't remember" thread in Gaming Discussion. Currently 15000+ posts. Plus that thread is going to be relevant for a long while, where this thread isn't going to last longer than a month.

I would shit a brick fucking wall if that happened. How much would we have to pay Kross for that to happen? We don't even need a thread merge, just forcing them to read everything in a completely blackened page is enough.

...Has anyone told them about the spinning and big red button badges yet?

Press the red button to win the thread!

I also like the idea of shrouding it in darkness.

Really, the main reason why it is so big is because 4chan and reddit aren't allowing threads on the topic and only this website is not mocking those who are taking it seriously. Also, the fact that these guys are still using the same thread instead of switching it, despite claims that the discussion is no longer on Zoe Quinn, probably helps the self-perpetuating machine that is that abomination. Like, if every Mass Effect 3 thread was stuffed into one thread, it would look like the Zoe Quinn thread.

Still, WHOOOHOOO!!!

its also the fact that almost every game media group isn't just not talking about it but are actively censoring any discussion of it.

Wouldn't that fall under the first sentence I made?

Come on! This is a celebration! Put some joy into your post!

Oh... Who should we thank for something like that?

Well, we have to thank Greg Tito, of course, for the joining of those three(?) separate threads discussing basically the same issue into one megathread of various proportions! (Also, props to his own neutral post for explaining why the thread merger happened in the first place, if I remember correctly...)

We also have to thank those that did comment in said megathread and lived to tell the tale of its ever-growing status like it's its own little universe, I guess...

And last, and definitely least, don't thank me for not even posting once in said megathread...

With that said, there is one thing we did learn from all this... A lesson that shall haunt us for the rest of our life until we forget all about it due to something something something I forgot what comes after the second "something"...

(Yes, I have no idea what I'm talking about... or doing, at this point... Sorry...)

I'm amazed that it has got almost 5000 posts and I pop in once in a while to see if it has been locked yet. I have to say most of it is less heated than the old 0.9999...=1 thread that got locked. But then again math is a way more serious topic than whatever they are discussing about Zöë Qüïn.

I'm actually kind of bewildered by it. Out of all the controversies, that's the one to explode?
It hits home the most. It makes us all think what other kinds of shit is being covered up by gaming journalists. It makes us wonder how much more corruption is in the industry. We all knew it was bad before, but this gave us all a clear message that it is far worse than we have thought.
That is one side of the dice. As I have said in one of the posts in that thread, the reason it became a clusterfuck was because there were four completely different topics running in parallel at the same time.

-The Zoe Quinn cheating/sleeping around topic, which was actually just a spark that ignited the real controversy. However since other sites refused to allow discussion, there was a constant influx of newbies who kept bringing it up over and over, which led to:
-The White Knights (as much as I hate to use that term since it is poisoning the well, this time it is pretty apt) jumped on the wagon, arguing that the entire controversy was about Zoe being a woman and that talking about her sex-life is slut shaming
-At the same time there was another topic that was concerning the apparent silencing and corruption of the games press and the apparently misguided attacks on the Wizardchan community flamed by said games press
-Finally the guys who were just appalled over Greg Tito's statements regarding his journalistic integrity

In many ways it was the perfect storm, combining the pent up resentment against the gaming press' declining quality, the whole feminist issue that has been handing in the air and an influx of new users and it was a bomb in the waiting.

It's kinda sad though. Threads like that one are the living proof of why tabloid and muckraker press are bought widely.

What consequences would those be, if I may ask?
I'd start with the dismantling of their careers.
maybe even legal suits from parties fucked over by this cabal.
in general a purge of these people from positions of influence.

I'm not calling for blood, I'm calling for disarmament.

Slowly turn the Zoe thread into a spiderman thread.

'You know what I think about Zoe Quinn, the ways shes like spiderman.'

Did something happen?
Surprised you missed the 100+ page thread about it.

I usually don't like people saying "impossible to miss" when giving directions, but the Zoe Quinn thread really is impossible to miss.
True statement. I haven't looked at it in days, and I don't miss it at all.

Is ... is it bad I haven't got a clue what THE thread is about?
Or am I free from a viewing of horror and 'controversy', if we may call it that?

Welp, all I know is that chaos roams in that thread, and I want to stay far away as possible.
That and it seems to be slowly transforming into a level of Hell.

I'll leave my reaction to this random gif.

Rather perfect I think.
