I will forever love the person who can tell me the name of this game.

I bought a game on the recommendation of an employee at a local game store and returned it the next day cause... "the dude runs funny"

It was some spy/action shootery thing. On the xbox I think. Project something or other I think. I dunno.
Alpha Protocol? Might not be the game you're thinking of, but his crouch/sneak run thing just about killed the game for me as well. Strange eh?? But I couldn't get my head around it. Plus the whole cheesy 'life of a spy' thing, the groovy protagonist reminded me more of Test Drive Unlimited for some reason.

The people in Oblivion are creepy. Also, the music in SMT: Devil Survivor is terrible. I'm talking five-second wailing guitar loops throughout lengthy turn-based strategic battles. Not an acceptable combination.

I find it harder to like any game without the ability to climb things. Especially when, like killzone 3, they make you do some stupid 2 man foot-on-hands boost thing, when the obstacle is clearly within reach of your well muscled character.

Just can't get past the name. Part of my brain always says, "Listen, if you guys aren't going to take this serious than why should I", while another part is playing 70's porn movie guitar riff.

I want to try Assassins Creed II or Brotherhood but I just can't get past the godawful Italian accents.

I know they're in Italy but I've seen plenty of Italian movies and I know nobody talks like that. It's like they got Mario's voice-actor to voice everyone.
I couldn't play one of the later Dinotopia games because I could not accept the Scottish accent that got thrown at me. So I feel ya there.

I didn't like Madden for a long time because it was a sports game. Now it's just...meh.
You should do what I do: Take your team of choice (New Orleans Saints FTW!), and make all of their players cartoonishly overpowered. I took every starter on the Saints and increased all of their stats to 99. Now I bulldoze through every team I play against. I found it pretty funny to have Drew Brees throw for 1,047 yards and 14 touchdowns in a single game.

I also made a custom team where both lines are all the exact same guy, 6'11" with max stats named Cloned Superhuman, a running back (6'11" maxed out) named Goddamn Minotaur, and receivers and a QB all 6'11" maxed out with humorous names. It makes things really fun when you're winning 167-0 =)

OT: I despise the Uncharted games because they do absolutely nothing original or interesting, yet are universally praised as some of the best games ever made. About halfway through I set Uncharted 2 to "Very Easy" difficulty just because I wanted to get through with the damn thing faster. I can't get past a completely generic, run-of-the-mill adventure/shooter game being so highly praised because they're exceptionally pretty. I don't begrudge the people who enjoy them, I just don't.

I can't for the life of me get Homefront. It's the premise that throws me off. I just... can't get over it.

This isn't such a weird reason, but I don't like COD because of iron sights and ADTS. I prefer just shooting, like in Halo and Doom, instead of having to press a button and hold for increased accuracy. I can still play COD (though the community also doesn't really make it for either) it's just I kinda prefer old-style.

What is the weirdest/most irrational reason you've heard from someone (or maybe even yourself) for not liking a game?

So yesterday I was showing my friend No More Heroes and the conversation went like this:

ME: "So what do you think?"
FRIEND: "I don't like it."
ME: "Why not?"
FRIEND: "It doesn't fit."
ME: "What doesn't fit?"
FRIEND: "The retro stuff, it doesn't fit."
ME: "What do you mean?"
FRIEND: "Retro stuff shouldn't be in modern games. It doesn't fit."
ME: "...Okay..."

Yep that's weirdest I've ever gotten.
PS3 or Wii version?

No more heroes really just pays homage. The gameplay isn't retro except for the daydream sequence, and anyone who doesn't think that's cool as Hell just doesn't have a sense of humor or much in the way of taste. And No More Heroes has a lot more going for it than simple references. It's very Tarantino in that only people who don't get it will say that it's a ripoff or that it's just parroting another source. The game actually mocks you while you play it. It gets meta in that winking sort of way where they don't have to break the fourth wall and come out and say "we are acknowledging that this is a game and you are playing it." What other games can you say that about? As Yahtzee said, you should play this game, if for no other reason than that you will never play anything fucking like it in your entire life.

I love No More Heroes.

The sequel did have quite a bit of retro stuff, though.

I really, really wanted to like Baldur's Gate, but I never got into it's battle system, having played JRPG's for years and western RPG's lately, the system was just... off.

I may "get it" eventually, but the game's just sitting there in my harddrive, waiting to be dusted off.

Also, I might add Amnesia too. I love that game for what it is, not because I've actually finished it. It's wierd, because, even if I was scared shitless of a survival horror (first with Resident Evil 2, later with Silent Hill 1) I eventually finish that game (1 year later with RE2 and 2 years later with SH1), but until now, I just don't want to keep playing that game and yes, I got past the "water" part, it's just after that part that makes me uneasy and... scared.

I'll eventually finish it, until I gather enough balls to play it again.

I once didn't play a game for years because the case looked gay. It then turned out to be my favorite game of all time. Final Fantasy IX.
Sentence one: I was going to ask how exactly a game gave you a homosexual vibe and...

Sentence two: Oh. Yeah. Final Fantasy. Their characters make the cast of The Matrix look rugged. Their characters make Adam Lambert look like Sean Connery, and for that I at least deserve the Dennis Miller award.

It's too damned late. G'night, Escapists.

Also "I hate Bayonetta, it's just like God of War, but with tits."

No. No it is not. And the sooner you get that through your skull, the better.
Exactly. It's just like Devil May Cry, only with slightly more tits.
Which somehow makes it ok, 'cause i really liked Bayonetta but never got into Devil May Cry.

OT: Not really sure. I'll use this thread to deduce that me and my friends are fairly reasonable people.

I dislike the assassin's creed games because the physics in jumping off a high ledge and landing unhurt in a pile of hay don't add up. Simply: Logic and the game don't work. And I'm trying to put too much logic into the game
