1. Wind Waker is the best Zelda out there
2. The Half Life series is just terrible
3. PC gamers need to chill the fuck out
4. I really enjoyed Sonic Adventure 2, I thought it was a good laugh
5. 007 Nightfire > Goldeneye
6. JRPGs do better stories the WRPGs
7. I think many established IPs like Street Fighter and Zelda should just die. I've had enough.
8. Social gaming is a good thing, some of their ideas are really quite interesting
9. FPS' need to die for a while, I'm sick of the over saturated market
10. Some movie tie-ins are great, case in point Spiderman 2

1)Look, you either have a reliable, standard piece of hardware made for one purpose it fills perfectly (console)
or a mishmash of hand-picked components you can rig to do whatever you want (PC).

Trying to mix the 2 only ends in tears and headaches.

2) I will like tactical real-time battles when the friendly AI develops past 'goldfish'. Until then I'll stay with turn-based. Saying "oh but you can pause to give commands" is a lame excuse.

3) Kingdom Hearts is a shallow, atrocious POS taking the low road in every part of gameplay. See also point 2.

4) I honestly can't make out some of these captchas. "Is it an e or a c? Only one way to find out!"

Final Fantasy is crap. The entire series.

Bioware has made ONE good game, and its not KoToR (WTB Jade Empire II?)

Bethesda has never made a good game, period.

Call of Duty has never been any good. Ever.

Killing Floor is far better then Left 4 Dead.

Blizzard has not put out a good game since Lord of Destruction, and Starcraft II specifically was the worst RTS I've played since 7th Legion

No More Heroes is one of the most tedious and boring games ever made: I like Suda51 but I hate his games.

R* needs to stop trying to be so serious with their games: whenever they try and make me cry, they just make me laugh. I feel like they peaked with San Andreas.

All the consoles this generation are crap: you either get a toy, a machine with good hardware & horrible support, or a machine with horrible hardware and good support.

Gamers are suckers: otherwise gamestop wouldn't make such obscene profits and the market would strike down defective consoles, defective games, and predatory practices like regular fees, "pass" schemes, and games with little content and a lot of dlc. Instead, it all seems to grow in popularity.

Fallout 3 is the best of the series: 1 & 2 were really good for their time but are really showing their age now and while New Vegas made a few improvements, but it also took away a lot and was a technical mess.

Bringing consoles online has so far done more harm than good... to the consumer.

Yahtzee (while hilarious) isn't picky enough.

Most of what's being called "Innovative gameplay" now a days are old gimmicks most have abandoned: see Heavy Rain.

There are maybe only 2 games released a year that are actually worth $60... if we're lucky.

About 99.5% of dlc is overpriced crap.

9.I liked Fable 2
This is my opinion.
fable 2 was the best one in my opinion. High Five... I guess...

Half Life is amazing though, hopefully eventually youll understand.
HIGH FIVE!

I understand why people like Half Life 1 and 2 so much, I love the mechanics of the game and the gameplay but I didn't like the story and little things.
Well I found the story cool and most of the physics things and puzzles and stuff, but the combat actually got a bit repetitive after awhile :p It wasnt enough for me to stop playing though which is good.

Thats cause it's not an RTS. lol
Rome Total War is a RTS and a Turn based strategy.
Yea, I know that but I consider it more of a turn based game because the turn based aspect of it is more important, well atleast the way I play. lol

1. If gaming not leaving a subcultural stage, gaming will only be entertainment and hardly called art. Especially to Asia's games.

2. Again to Asia's games. They need translation to get into the world, if not, the gap between western and eastern gaming will never close. Plus, not everyone willing to learn the language they don't know in order to play a game that is using other dialect.

3. I agree everyone should enjoy games in the way they like. However if gamers focusing only one aspect of gaming (either story or gameplay) is deadly to a gamers community.

1) I didn't like Lost Planet
2) I really like Lord of the Rings: Conquest
3) Despite what MovieBob may say, I DO like to turn off my brain once in a while and just enjoying big kabooms
4) I can never get through The Godfather. I really like what I've seen, it's just soooooo long.

Wait, scratch that last one, it's not game-related. Or the third.

-Single player > multiplayer

-Morrowind > Oblivion

-FF IX is the best PSX era FF and beats the shit out of every subsequent FF, including FF XIII.

-Mass Effect 2 is overrated

-9 out of 10 games have a bland, generic story. Often: good vs evil (no ambiguity)...in the end you save the day (unequivocal victory).

-Gameplay progress by way of death and destruction alone shows just how juvenile (power fantasies) and non-imaginative developers/ gamers can be.

Metal Gear Solid is not the best franchise ever,
I didn't really like Mass Effect or Oblivion,
Kingdom Hearts was ok but now that the story is totally bananas, it's not anymore,
I just don't like mainstream shooters.

1. People just don't get that I'm the[/b] best player
2. Dragon Age II is a good and enjoyable game
3. I hate people that "are special and much cooler because they are not mainstream like everybody else and have unpopular opinions"
4. I hate people that open entirely subjective threads and call it being objective

Oh wait, the last two statements apply to this very thread

I can't decide if I want to tear apart others lists or make a list I know others will want to tear apart. Oh well, while we're all being honest, I might as well try to upset everyone by being honest.

1. Bad controls and bad cameras are a good things, in the right type of games. They make you feel weak and afraid, and saying a game is bad for doing that is limiting the experiences games can give you.

2. Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball is a good game, and has a deeper system of controls and exploits sexy babes less than the original fighting series -or most volleyball games for that matter.

3. If you only control one character then its not an RPG. You might as well call Tekken a FPS.

4. A 5 second cut scene worse than a 5 hour cut scene if it shows something the player could actually do themselves. Integrating movies in gameplay only screws up good cinematography. Cut scenes of any length are great, if they have something worth showing.

5. No fans of First Person Shooters can seem to agree on thee best game or set of games for its genre, which typically are well known for most genres. Therefor I must assume there is no first person shooters to stands out as a culmination of the best that all shooters have to offer that I must play. So no FPS can be considered the best game ever, and none are worth playing if you have ever played one.

6. All fighting games as overly defensive and unrealistic by not allowing fighters to attack and block at the same time, and include an idea of balance into the system. (I also don't like that kicking my shin can kill me)

7. MMORPG have almost been design to play themselves. End game raids follow instructions, and are just mindless execution. I get the social fun of team work, but when you get down to it, your paying a monthly fee to play Tetris.

8. People who ***** about games needing to be art more often or design to help gain acceptance of non-gamers are dumb. Really dumb. Art is art, and even the games they don't want to count as art are art. 90% of all art in every genre and media sucks. And until someone starts playing games you can't design games for them, all you can do is make a game good.

9. Choices in games do not make them less linear, they make the game less of a game.

10. No one on the Escapist should own an X-box when they by all probability own a PC, which is pretty much the same system.

11. No one should play a sports game until LARP competitions are aired on TV.

12. Girls not only play video games, but that the ones who are into gaming are in fact more likely to be active than the ones who are not. (Though. I might just be saying that because I know the audience of girls who are likely to read this. That doesn't mean it's not true)
