My Desktop PC has two different backgrounds one for each OS. My windows partition shows one of the final frames from Neil Gaiman's Sandman "The soft beating of her wings" is the name of the chaper I believe along with the quote "We do what we do because of who we are, if we did not we would not be ourselves". My Ubuntu background consists of a stylized battle pose of Maka Albarn from Soul Eater with additional color effects added.

On my Xubuntu netbook is the standard windows hilltop in front of blue sky background, except that it has Osaka from Azumanga Diaoh resting her head on the hill.

I was actually thinking of changing mine soon though so I'll probably be perusing this thread for interesting ideas.
