Ryan - Little King. In the Irish Catholic background, which I share somewhat though I was born in NA and am Christian, It is shortening of the name Abryan. Ab was used to name the first born son way back when and BEING the first born son my name would probably be Abryan if I was born then.

My grandparents picked it out because my parents were horribly indecisive and failed to pick out my name by the day I was born. My grandfathers sat down and talked it out, and chose something they found suitable.
Edit: Oooops! My Mama would kill me for not putting my "whole" name. {I'm half-Mexican, I have four names but at the time of my birth America only acknowledged three of them on my birth certificate. My missing name means "executioner." Doesn't wedge well in with the others.
