I always liked Halo, Portal and for some reason King Kong on the PS2.. It could be glitchy at times but I always thought it was fun to play.. and I guess thats what your meant to look for in games..
Many fans of ME had this same concern. I agree that mass effect one had great RPG elements to it and honestly I missed those in ME2. However I have to say combat was revised and became nmuch better overall. In Mass Effect 3 from what I read from the game informer article it is still closer to mass effect 2 however it does have a lot more options that make it more RPG like. Anyway Just wanted to sayMr Goostoff said:(There are some spoilers in here, though I'd be inclined to believe that everyone who wants to play Mass Effect one or two already have)
I know this is probably a very unpopular choice, but for me, Mass Effect was the best single-player game of all time. I'm really big on backstory and characters, and Mass Effect had some of the most likeable characters and completely rich backstories I've ever experienced. It also had a great story, and an intense ending, and choices with real, resonating consequences. I mean, depending on your decisions throughout the game, a crew member can be killed, the Council can die, you can exterminate a race, you can have thousands of Alliance members killed, you can wipe out a colony, all sorts of choices that feel as though you're actually playing an important role in the galaxy.
Not to mention that I still believe that Saren is one of the greatest villains ever created. He's powerful, he's a traitor, he's a murderer, he's playing for the wrong side, and yet I was sympathising with him by the end of the game. He's tragic to a fault, and truly believes that he's doing what's best for the galaxy.
I know the gameplay isn't perfect, and the inventory can become very quickly cluttered, but as far as my opinion goes, Mass Effect is the best.
I still despise Bioware for some of the changes they made to the second one. And from what I've heard, the third one will be even worse.
