I have that here. In user groups and some threads you can enjoy the community. Each to his own I guess, I had to shut the warcry tab because it was too sad.Luftwaffles said:I can see the appeal.
oh god oh god I'm in this guy's position now. Except their equivalent of The Escapist was dying...leecho7 said:I personally don't care about the 'merger' or whatever you want to call it. Admittedly I was kind of getting annoyed by the spam whores on our site, but I found that I genuinely liked some of the 'new' members from the escapist.
I think what a lot of people need to consider is that many of us from Warcry have been apart of this forum for 4+ years... Goddamn we're losers.
It's amazing. You could almost do a David Attenborough style commentary of it while surfing the forums. I found a thread started by one spambot, which another spambot recognised was about the topic it was spamming, so it joined in the discussion and posted its necessary links in a creepily sentient sort of way.Hazy992 said:Well based on that I'd say your theory holds water. It's owned by Themis Group (the guys that own The Escapist) so when The Escapist was founded in 2005 they must have linked the forums with each other. People from Warcry can post here (which is why you see people with join dates from before 2005) and we can post there.
Maybe thats where sentient bots are created.......
Seriously, what the hell?![]()

Good to see that the escapist never changed.most of the warcry regulars went there once and deemed it pseudo-intellectuals and children arguing over meaningless drivel
Captcha: I'm sorry dave Ok, that's just plain terrifying.
Wait, so the spambots are actually spamming other spambots? What the actual hell? That's fucking metaHero in a half shell said:So this is what happens to websites when the traffic dies down and they are left to decay. Interesting that in the real world something abandoned gets reclaimed by nature, in the internet it gets bugged up by new browsers not interpreting the old code correctly (see the thread title bar of the link I've posted) and gets reclaimed by spambots.
This is the future of the Escapists, the future of all internet sites eventually. It's like staring into the eyes of the Terminator.

This is what will happen when the captchas take over the world and kill all the humans. Nothing but sad and spam. Imreally hope this doe not happen anytime soon to the escapist.Hero in a half shell said:So this is what happens to websites when the traffic dies down and they are left to decay. Talk about destroying a website. The guys on the escapist seemed to have fucked up pretty bad. Destroy a website and drive away it's users. No wonder there are only about 2 users from 2003 and around that these days.
Hate, jealousy and power tripping? What do you mean? From who?Boudica said:What a depressing thread. A vile mix if hate, jealousy and power tripping.
Oh OK I gotcha. Yeah that is pretty depressing, especially when you see how the spambots have taken over there. They're actually spamming each other now. Sucks for the old Warcry users.Boudica said:The little war between the two when they merged. From the description in this thread, it seemed to have been quite a hostile pairing, with a few people becoming rather aggressive and being kicked out of their communities.Hazy992 said:Hate, jealousy and power tripping? Damn, I've been meaning to drop in again for ages. Linky?SirBryghtside said:Nooooo people discovered our secret bunker D:
Seriously though, Luft is right. Nowadays it's dead bar me, Portal, oppp and whoever else wants to drop in on that one thread, plus Skynet.

They seem to have given up moderating it.
I guess Themis Media's servers have plenty of storage space for spam?
I know it just seems like a complete waste of resources. They're essentially keeping the site going for spambots.Matthew94 said:I wonder why they keep the website going, everything in it is dead. No articles or anything are posted.

Well it seems to be a spambot breeding ground by the looks of it. Maybe that's been their plan all along; to make so many spambots they take over the internet.Matthew94 said:Maybe it's a spambot test bed?Hazy992 said:I know it just seems like a complete waste of resources. Shhh, we don't talk about the Dark Limbo Brovengers.TopazFusion said:My only guess is that, given the shitstorm over merging the two sites, they're now too scared to shut that site down completely.Hazy992 said:it just seems like a complete waste of resources. Doesn't seem like there's enough members left to even cause a shitstorm to be brutally honest.TopazFusion said:My only guess is that, given the shitstorm over merging the two sites, they're now too scared to shut that site down completely.Hazy992 said:it just seems like a complete waste of resources.
