What is this warcry?

I'm actually surprised this many people were completely unaware of the Warcry forums. It used to have a little section listed amongst the other sub-forums here on the escapist. Also it was the only way to get the vagabond badge at the time (post in 9 different forums)... In hindsight a bad idea.

I discovered Warcry shortly after I joined (really it was hard to miss, the little "Warcry Corner" link that apparently caused so much trouble was still in the Escapist forum list until very recently) but I never knew the story behind it. It's very interesting. From what Susan is describing, it almost sounds like Themis owned an MMO focused competitor to Gamespy's Planet sites back in the day.

By the way, I discovered recently that these aren't the only two Themis media owned sites I have an account on. They've got several, all of which use a single login system. Most of them are just sub sites for various Escapist video series, but I find this one to be particularly entertaining. They sure do love their ponies at Themis.

Huh, I knew about Warcry but I didn't know the story behind it. I just assumed it was abandoned due to the actual Escapist site sucking users away to post here instead of Warcry and the place got forgotten about.

Same here. I popped in once, saw all the spambots and dust and left. The Escapist grew exponentially larger than that site and the population shifted over I'm guessing.

All I know is that the very few residents left in the forums are not too happy about the 'revival' efforts going on. I'll just be over here, in Forum Games, unaffected by all of this.
