I'm quite excited for Witcher 3 Blood and Wine. I already know that the base game with the first expansion ranks as one of my favourite games ever, so it stands to reason that out of all the things I could be excited for, this expansion has the best chance to actually live up to my expectations.

I'm also fairly excited for Mount and Blade Bannerlored. It's the sequel to my favourite game ever, but that's mostly due to the modding community. Still, the devs have promised even better mod support for this game, so I see no reason for it not to meet my expectations. Everything I've seen of the game basically looks like a better version of Warband. It's bigger, has more features, and has a much nicer coat of paint. It looks to be exactly what I want.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance also looks like it might be pretty good.

By the way, when I say excited, I don't really mean hyped. I don't really spend any time thinking about how great they might be. I'll likely purchase those games, but only after I've extensively reviewed their gameplay.

Games I used to be excited for, but no longer care about:
No Man's Sky -the more I see of it, the less I want it.
Dark Souls 3 -I'm not even sure why. I was excited for it, it looks pretty good, but for whatever reason, I no longer have any desire to get it. Maybe that'll change later. Maybe it's because I never spend full price on games anymore.

There are other games that are on my radar, but none that I'd say I'm excited for. Just games that I might pick up if they turn out to be good.

I'm really looking forward to The Last Guardian, Mirror's Edge, Ni-Oh and Kingdom Come: Deliverance (although slightly worried about all of them as well, for different reasons), and then there's some smaller upcoming games I'm looking forward to like the Pathologic remake, Routine, System Shock 3, Abzu and Draugen.
But then I'm betting half of these will be delayed till 2017, possibly including The Last Guardian because of that new PS4.

ITT: Some folks who fear disappointment as if it were death. Even if you don't like the game, then you have maybe an hour or so of disappointment. Anything more, and your priorities when it comes to entertainment are way off balance. I'd rather be excited for a few months for a potentially disappointing evening than be cynical all the time.

Anyways,

10 - Monster Hunter X (probably my favorite gaming series of all time, early reports are looking pretty good).

9 - Dishonored 2, Deus Ex Mankind Divided.

8 - The new Destiny expansion that's coming this Fall.

Ok sure there are games I am looking forward to but unless I seen previews (Pokemon Sun and Moon) or an actual release date (Death's Gambit, Doko Roko and Starr Mazer), my hype meter ain't rising.
Don't you worry about Starr Mazer, @Scarim. Don't you worry at all.

Also, PM me for a code for Starr Mazer: DSP Forward Squadron. You know, because you rock.

I am hyped for Perception.

That takes something quite unique into a horror game and so far seems to get good first impressions.

Of course I need to play it with a friend because I'm too scared to play horror games alone.

I very rarely get hyped for games. The main game I wanted to play this gen was MGSV, and I have already finished that. I mostly end up playing games from previous years, and then eventually get to more recently released games.

Still haven't put in time to play the FF15 demo for instance. I really enjoy the series, but definitely very far from marking the day on my calendar type hype. I learned my lesson from Killzone 2 about not getting hyped for games. As while I really enjoyed KZ2 all around. It was quite a dread waiting for the late February release date. Don't want to put that kind of burden on myself over a game again. There's a lot more to my life than getting hyped for the overwhelming majority of games being made today. And because my expectations are kept low, and I make low risk investments (don't pay close to full price). I get to really enjoy the games I play more and rarely experience buyers remorse.

Nothing. I had some interest in Doom, but after seeing how the multiplayer was handled, I don't even think I find the single-player appealing anymore. It tore up my hype ticket and threw me off the hype train into Disinterest Gulch.

I'd like to get excited about No Man's Sky, but that's difficult because we've been told squat-all nothing about what it actually is.

I don't get hyped anymore. No excitement for upcoming titles. The few that are guaranteed to be competently executed are unlikely to be too imaginative and fresh, whilst the ones that are imaginative and fresh don't have any guarantee of being competently executed. But in the spirit of the thread, my interest in upcoming titles. High is for those that I believe will be executed well, and will be quite entertaining when they are finished. Medium are for the ones that have a net expected execution of 'moderate'. Ones where they are consistently well executed but with old gameplay, and ones where they could be really great, or the execution could end up off, but the ideas at least are good. Low are for the ones where I have a passing interest in them. Either they're really ambitious but have a more than reasonable chance of flopping if execution is off, or they're generally good games but they're not a core series that I'm into.

High Hype!:
-Upcoming Witcher 3 expansion - Proven great game, new content looks great too. Hype! with a capital H and an !.
-Sunless Sea Zubmariner - Love Sunless Sea. Amazing writing and stories to be found, gameplay that is satisfactory and challenging at times, even if it isn't the core appeal of the game. A bit grindy late game, but even then most of that can be alleviated by... Exploring, funnily enough, and taking risks. Zubmariner should be interesting to learn more about the world, and try to figure out how to survive consumed under the Zea, rather than relatively safely floating on top of it.
-All the mods I'm busy making that I will hopefully have done at some point - If anyone knows how to please me with a game, its me, so Imma do that. Hype!, with a capital H and an !.
Medium Hype:
-Yooka Laylee - Banjo Kazooie style games were great, and this one looks good. Only fear is that it'll take too much from the modern design booklet and create something that completely misses what was appealing about the originals to appeal to a newer audience. Hype with a capital H.
-Pokemon Sun/Moon - Love me some Pokemon, latest renditions have been ok at best, but I'm still going to get me these ones and play the shit out of them. Hype with a capital H.
-Zelda - Love the series. LbW was kind of eh, but otherwise I've loved all the entries that I've played. I'm getting whatever platform this is on to play it. Only game that gets that from me. Still, it could be shit, given how they're just experimenting with everything ATM. Hype with a capital H.
-Cyberpunk 2077 - CDPR know their shit and make great games. Cyberpunk is a very different genre from fantasy though, and they seem even more ambitious with this than TW3. It could be amazing, or they could overstretch themselves and it ends up merely mediocre. Hype with a capital H.
Low hype:
-Fire Emblem - Like the series, find it fun to play, but I'm not a fanatical follower. Still, could be good. hype.
-Squadron 42 - Fairly ambitious on its own, and will serve as a good indication of where Star Citizen is truly at. hype.

Anything else I have a grand total of 0 interest in playing, or most of it even seeing or hearing about. Just does not interest me at all, or I have a mere design interest in it to see how it does things and what I can learn from that, or I have the interest of looking at it and saying "Hah, knew it would suck!" for schadenfreude.

Star Fox Zero! Oh wait... I already bought that hype...

*ahem* I am hyped as fuck for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Persona 5! They both feel like a long time coming, but despite all that, I don't give a fuck because I'm patient as fuck for their NA release...

Other than that, Pokemon Sun/Pokemon Moon are on my radar to pay/play, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is peaking my curiosity in the CE department, and Tales of Berseria can take my money any day now out of sheer bias alone...

Well, Overwatch has my attention after playing the beta, and I'm hopeful for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Now, about Doom... played the beta, and all I have to say is, meh... everything about it is unremarkable, it's a shame really.

I've had a bad feeling about it since we first saw footage, but I wanted to wait until I got to play it... it's not terrible, but it's just not good...

How sad is it that part of the Doom pitch has descended to the level of 'Don't worry guys, we had two companies working on this, one of them screwed up multiplayer but single player is still on track' and people are so desperate for a decent Doom that they'll accept it? I can't recall another game where they were able to say 'We can't run a game company for beans' during pre-release as a positive thing.

Alright, let's do this:

Tier 1: Choo, Choo! Here come the hype train! Got my ticket ready. All aboard for gaming giddiness!

Dishonored 2: Oh fuck yes! I loved the first one and this promises more. Playing as either Emily or Corvo sounds awesome, and the fact that the choice is irreversible is good. Make the players decide early on, and don't cop out by making it an easy switch. Of course I'm going to play as Emily the first time; she has new powers and I want to use them. Also only she can create custom bone charms. That and Arkane claims the enemy AI has been upgraded to change tactics based on when and where you get detected. Can't wait till this shit drops.

Star Citizen/Squadron 42: Yeah, yeah, I know about the big ol' controversy with Cloud Imperium Games. But, if this does deliver on everything it's going to be absolute bliss. I love space sims and mourned their downfall in the late '90s. To me this looks better than Elite: Dangerous or No Man's Sky. It puts quality above quantity with the number of locations but that's fine with me. It's a PC exclusive that takes full advantage of the tech and will make my GPU beg for mercy. I shall show it none.

Tier 2: Pretty stoked, but there may be problems.

Doom: Oh, I love me some Doom. I even really enjoyed Doom 3. The forces of hell will BOW before my boomstick. Honestly I don't care that much about multiplayer. Even in Classic Doom I never thought it was all that great. iD software's big multiplayer experience was always in the Quake franchise. Still I've seen some issues. I'm not sure how I feel about the demons dropping health and ammo when killed. That doesn't seem quite right. I'm still sold on buying it, and hope everything pans out.

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst: Finally! Despite its flaws I still love Mirror's Edge. I hope Catalyst can improve on the gameplay mechanics that made the first game so unique. However, I watched the 12 minute gameplay trailer, and it looks like "runner vision" might be mandatory. I turned this off when I played Mirror's Edge. I had fun frantically looking around for a way to escape and I don't need shit to turn red in order to figure it out. Hopefully Catalyst will also allow to be played without it. The story will probably suck again, but as long as I can pull some sweet parkour moves and kick people off high-rise buildings, I'm good.

Tier 3: Cautiously optimistic.

Unreal Tournament 4: This is a fan made game and therefore is probably a labor of love. After the travesty of UT3 this needs to be good. Still, being fan made may present a litany of bugs and problems with the set-up. But who knows? It could be the next Black Mesa. I really want this to work as UT is one of the greatest run and gun franchises of all time and deserves better.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: This should be okay, but with the blatant cash grab marketing, it seems like they might be trying to just ride off the success of DX:HR. Still it can't be worse than Invisible War. Umm... right?

Firefly Online: Hey, did you know this is a thing? It's a pretty laid back game, no major combat outside of bar fights. Like the show the main objective is to keep flying, not to piss of the wrong people or if you do, be able to take them out, and not get busted for less than legal activity. It some interesting mechanics regarding the other players but has been in beta for a long time, so there's plenty of room to fuck it up. I'm just a fanboy who want's more Firefly, so I'm crossing my fingers for this one.

Well I wrote too much on this so, later.
