Yes, I seem to apply to this scenario entirely. My account name is JoobNoob. (out of hilarity, I wanted to make it, being of course modeled after your example!) It was tempting.
OT: Yes, new user here. Hi all. The truth is that I have been reading many posts and polls on The Escapist for the past month, and the content sent in by users are very intriguing and informative. I appreciate the amount of content on the site, and the videos are entirely entertaining. Go Ben 'Yahtzee'! Your videos rock!

I'd tell them not to take shit form any mother fucker, stick to their guns, argue their point, and blow the living mother fucking shit out of all that oppose them.
I'd also warn him to do so and politely as possible, otherwise he'll get banned.
I agree with this on the most part. I wouldn't go so far as blow them away though, guts and all.
Being polite on a forum or blog is important because it isn't difficult to lose your cool admist a sea of differing opinion, sometimes many may seem objective, or mean. The reality is that maintaining dignity isn't so hard when you know that your opinion is yours, which you know is unique. Keep respect of others opinion set to 11 on the dial, at best, and things really go hand in hand, and in no time, you'll be full-fledged and respected within the community.
Personally, I would tell a new member to not get worked up over heated discussions. If you feel that you shouldn't comment on a hot topic that may bring flaming forth, then by all means, you don't have to. It really helps if you display your opinion in a discussion to help expose others that may have the same opinions or others that may wish to show differing facts or opinions that further the discussion. Without your opinion, how would you know how it would have affected the topic at hand?
For those new to blogging, remember to read the rules, as they state positive notions toward a better blog site. A good practice and application of the rules = Better commenter, and better discussions. Quite simply, the only time to not practice restraint on wildness, but still follow the rules closely is during silly discussions. (Like a Poll: What is your favorite PIE flavor? I would say blueberry and apricot custard, but I would rather go silly and say dust from a nuclear fallout and shavings of a grown man's leg hairs. You get the idea. I hope.

) Sort of like a vacation from being serious, ya' know?
All in all, it's good to comment here. Life's great.
