I watched The Master recently and highly enjoyed it (though first half was better than second half, mostly because it reminded me of Badlands in some strange way, must have been the soundtrack). Before that it was The Watcher, a highly underrated thriller where Keanu Reeves plays a serial killer being chased by David Spader.

I´ve also been rewatching all the Harry Potter movies where i surprisingly enough ended up enjoying all of them (except for 3), i´ve always been dissapointed with them, but now they are probably some of my favourite action/fantasy movies of the last 10 years. Strange how things turn out.

Hmmm, been awhile since we watched any films...

I think the last one we watched was Land Before Time 1.
Yes I very much enjoyed it. Wonderful animation and of course...

Elysium, and I'd say it was pretty great. The only real gripes I had with it were the rather uninteresting soundtrack (it did the job, it was just a bit generic) and the one dimensional nature of the female characters.

It was either Brave or Tangled, and not for the first time. And yes I did enjoy it, thank you for asking.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. And yes.

Meant to go see it at the movies, but.. I kept putting it off. Fun fact about that movie; The sequence in the forest with all the slow motion, the guys who did that have their own YouTube series called The Slow Mo Guys.

As of recent, I watched D.W Griffith's "Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl." I enjoyed it quite a lot, despite not being big into melodramas. It did have some slightly over-the-top acting here and there, as well as some slightly out-of-focus shots, but I think I can overlook that, with the film being almost a hundred years old and all.

It was a simple, but well-told story with otherwise solid camerawork for its time, and I recommend it if you enjoy these kind of silent movies.

Pacific Rim.

Hell yes it was good. Probably the only movie I enjoyed the second time as much as I did the first time.
SNAP! Also the only film I've ever gone to see twice. Not to say it's perfect, or as good as I'd been hoping for, but still damn good.

Not a movie, but I did get the first 4 seasons of Breaking Bad last week on dvd, extremely enjoyable.

I believe it was Ghost in the Shell: Arise.

I really enjoyed it. The new casting for the voices is pretty good, only Batou sounds that noticeably different, but I wouldn't say that was bad thing. I really like the Major and Batou's new look, Bstou isn't terribly different, he is more like the original design than SAC, the Major looks pretty different, but a lot cooler than from the promotional art. The story fit very well into the series and didn't feel out of place, I look forward to seeing how they progress with the new direction. Although it kind of sucks that the next one isn't out (in Japan) until December.

I got it on Blu-Ray and visually it is gorgeous, but the animation and art style of GitS always has been so it's not surprising. The soundtrack isn't as amazing as it normally is for the series, but it is still very good.

Overall I am really glad I paid the obnoxious amount of money required to import it.

Justice League: Doom and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

Hell of a way to provoke Batman in Doom though. The contingency plans for the other JL members made me remember how smart Batman is supposed to be and is really not in the last 3 movies of his. Hope they turn him back into the world's greatest detective in the Superman/Batman movie and not just a fancy gadget owner.

Last movie I saw was Primer.

I liked it.

Though to be honest, it wasn't nearly as confusing as everyone makes it out to be. Seems to be a theme with nonlinear storytelling...

Elysium and forgive me for saying that, but it felt like Blomkamp decided to Americanize Disctrict 9. The two share a lot of similarities, but Elysium reeks of standard Hollywood fare. It's a good film, probably a 7/10 if you want to get numerical. An enjoyable sci-fi action film, and I'm happy to recommend it to anyone who likes the genre. Sharlto Copley proves he's the master of the word "fook". And the stupidest line of the trailers was removed.

But I'll list the big negatives for the benefit of anyone who decides to go see it on my counsel and then torch my house. Nothing spoilery, but I'll put it in the tags anyway.

1) The social commentary is painful. District 9 wasn't into complex metaphors either, but it's the height of subtlety compared to Elysium. It takes a massive hammer and hits you over the head with its intended message over and over and over again. The Spanish-speakers try to get into the English- and French-speaking paradise. The marvelous healthcare is restricted to the wealthy elite. There is a non-white president who wants to do good to everyone, but the system doesn't let him. And yeah, it's definitely "subtle social commentary" that he's non-white. Practically every other inhabitant of the space station is Hitler's wet dream.
2) World- and character-building is seriously lacking. There's a short Galadriel speech at the beginning and then it's just all action, all the time.
3) The story is basically a run through the setpieces. One moment Matt Damon is hiding from Sharlto Copley and he doesn't even have to make an effort, the next he wants to find Sharlto and finds him immediately. There are almost no conversations longer than a few lines in the whole movie.
4) The story of Frey and her daughter is shoehorned in only so Blomkamp can have his intended ending for the hero. They have no agency and only serve as moral blackmail for Damon. Hell, even the Innocent Kid Who Causes The Hero To Change Their Hearts has moved from the curious little prawn in D9 to a Littlest Cancer Patient here.

So yeah, decent film, go watch it if you want an enjoyable sci-fi flick. Just don't try to think too much.

RED 2: It was...watchable. I guess?

Honestly, I would have preferred a movie just about Helen Mirren's and Byung-hun Lee's characters. That way there could have been jokes about old people being secret agents and more action scenes that didn't need to take into consideration that the participants aren't capable of running anymore.

KickAss 2, as a birthday present from my cousin (she paid for the ticket). And hell yes; no it's not as shocking and surprising as the first one was, but somehow it's all the better for that.

ATM and Eden Lake (In quick succession)

ATM was a plot hole ridden midden. I could only recommend it by saying "You have to see this, it's absolutely ridiculous but the chick in it is kinda cute".

Eden Lake I had to watch to get rid of the taste of the ATM (Budum tsk!), not so bad. Far from perfect but it made me cringe in all the right places and didn't give me the ending I was expecting to see based on the first act of the film.

Ghost world. I liked it a lot. The characters are all extremely well written, and the music is great.
