Punch/rifle butt/pistol whip/combat knife. Whatever the melee option in an FPS is I like it.
In terms of games with more melee focus' I prefer spears, failing those; axes.
In terms of spears, my favorite would be the Dragonslayer Spear from Dark Souls.
The Benelli M4 Super 90. Or, the M1014, as it's called in most games featuring the USMC.
It's a semi-automatic shotgun with a capacity of eight shells and surprisingly little recoil for a shotgun -- tons of fun to shoot in real life. Nothing beats the feeling of bursting through a door in Battlefield/Call of Duty/Arma/whatever you prefer and dropping eight guys before they have a chance to react. Also great for mowing down zombies in Killing Floor and Left 4 Dead!
On top of all that, it's one of the best looking shotguns ever designed, right up there with the SPAS-12. Those Italians sure know how to make some awesome combat shotguns.
Honourable mention goes to the M1 Garand. Or as I call it, bang-bang-bang-PING.
Whether storming the beaches of Normandy, fighting in the jungles of Vietnam, or hunting deathclaws in the Mojave Wasteland, nothing beats a trusty M1 Garand and that sound of the magazine ejecting after firing that last round. Bonus points if it has a bayonet -- looking at you, World at War!
Sadly, I have not been able to find one for purchase. I would love to add one to my collection.
The Custom Shotgun in Resident Evil 2. Especially after a certain moment when Leon (and myself) was filled with an unholy rage at all things viral, I pulled that thing out of the Item Box and laid waste to every enemy. It literally blew the head, both arms, and half of the torso off zombies. To quote ZP, it was like God slamming his car door with every round.
The repeating shotgun from Metro. Just because it's so bloody ridiculous:
DShK HMG rechambered to fire shotgun shells? Able to kill any enemy in the game in a few seconds? Probably more costly to sustained fire than the TF2 Heavy's minigun? Yes please.
Thought tbf the throwing knives in that game are probably more satisfying, especially when you manage to silently instakill someone in the unarmoured neck from across a tunnel just before their headlamp lights you up.
I'm going to have to go with GMOD's ent mover (Physgun), smashing people with cars is super satisfying, as well as tossing NPCs up into the air and watching them flail to the ground.
For me the most satisfying guns were in unreal tournament 3. The Flak Cannon felt so satisfying to use especially if you got close enough to one hit someone with it
As I'm replaying AC Brotherhood, a lot of the weapons there are favorites.
First the honorable mentions:
The series iconic hidden blade. The acrobatics of air assassinations aside, I'll always love the slow walk assassinations, where you stab and sit them down, almost as if saying, shh, shh, it's alright. Then there's the daggers for their fast paced ferocious combats
And tied for first:
The blunted weapons, whether it's swirling uppercuts or shattering kneecaps, the blunt weapons never fail to deliver. Those animations are so awesome. My current favorite must be the spear-like weapons though. While their regular attacks are ok, and the sweep is pretty awesome when you slice a bunch of throats, there's nothing like throwing them javelin style and impaling a guard through the face. Gods, I love that. This also goes for the heavy axe throwing, very, very satisfactory.
I can second this, but only in single player. In most multiplayer games, they're about as effective as sneezing if your enemy is more than arms reach away.
akimbo model 1887s in MW2 (pre-patch) disagree with you xD ahh, good times were had with those bad boys, so many butthurt people...
anyway, i'd also agree with shotguns, i especially liked bioshocks shotgun, because it kinda felt like it took actual effort to cock it, making it seem like a meaty fucker.
but i've gotta give my first place to the stake gun in painkiller, because it impales people to walls and there's not much more satisfying than firing a tree at somebodies face
My first Dark Souls playthrough was on a build with rather heavy armour, greatshield and Zweihänder. It was surprisingly good at dispatching invaders (I played in human form whenever I could); many of them underestimated just how quick a jump attack is with that thing. Some bosses gave me a real headache though, since their openings were almost too small for an attack.
Fun fact: When I fought the Four Kings, I had a total of six kings spawned... Sometimes, taking your time might not be the best idea
Another weapon I found very satisfying was the Maliwan Hellfire from Borderlands. Burning people... Burning people everywhere °_°
I've always loved MAGIC - just magic in general feels so good to just spam and slaughter people with, just using various levels of horrifyingly brutal magic to send faceless goons to their deaths was basically my job in Skyrim.
But my favorite weapon that I can remember really loving was the Cross from Dantes Inferno, I mean sure it wasn't anything special but it was the first time a cross had been an actually exciting and fun weapon to use, at least for me.
Was also op out the ass.
I love me some bow and arrows. Farcry 3's exploding arrows never cease to be hilarious.
Also pretty much any melee weapon in The Last of Us. CCQ combat in that game is brutally intense and I love it.

Holy crap I totally forgot about those. The ridiculousness of a "stealthy" assassin wielding a giant battleaxe never gets old. Throwing it into a poor guard's face only added to the hilarity.
Seconded. They all sound like god slamming his car door. I play support specialist purely because of the ridiculous amounts of noise they make (And the fact that the Vlad the Impaler shotgun can literally kill things around corners)
Automatic shotguns just plain WORK. All the destructive force of a shotgun with multiple rounds of BANG BANG BANG! Whether it's Metro, GTA V, or Saints Row, tis always been my weapon of choice.
And I hear there's one to be unlocked in Battlefield 4 as well. Oh my...gonna have fun with that.
Without a doubt the carl gustav from battlefield bad company 2, it was so ridiculously satisfying that I cannot even describe it with words. Some coward sniper is camping in some building? BOOM! Blow up the side of the building and get a double kill.
I used it so much that I could reliably shoot down choppers without the tracer dart.
For me, the Scythe of the Celt in Clive Barker's Undying. When you use the Haste spell you just fly around, hacking enemies in two, snipping away arms, legs and heads... And when you use the the lifesteal ability it makes this cool slurping sound.
Another would be the Drill from Bioshock 2, especially when Drill Dashing.
And OH MY GOD - the Jacks from American McGee's Alice!! One of the most fun weapons I've used in a game.
Shrink Gun from Duke Nukem 3D definitely qualifies, as well as the Vox Volley Gun from Bioshock Infinite, I really like the way all these projectiles first hit the enemy, doing little damage and then just start exploding like firecrackers.
Edit: Most weapons from Hotline Miami, but especially the Frying Pan and the Drill with the Grasshopper Mask. Also the Fire Bellows with Army Carbine in Bastion, SPIN TO WIN!
Edit 2: First weapon from Painkiller, it's just so fun mutilating your enemies. Voodoo Doll and Napalm Launcher from One Unit Whole Blood, enemies splitting apart or jumping balls of fire, your choice! And from the Fallout weapons (I mean Fallout 1, only one I played so far) Upgraded/Turbo Plasma Rifle, it just litterally melts your enemies to a puddle on the ground. And it crits every time, or at least it did on my build. Even the Warrior Mutants went down in two shots.

Rather massive spoilers for a cool game. Even if you've played it, there's a good chance you don't know about this part, so.
At the end of the game, you can choose to literally will yourself out of existence with a Will check of 25 (the maximum possible) and having previously learned the right piece of information (at the Godsmen or the Harmonium I think, but am not sure on this part). This is not mere suicide, which would also be an option (using the Entropy Blade I believe). Instead, TNO chooses to simply transcend all possible limitations of causality and reality within and without the Planes (which is the sum of all possible multiverses everywhere forever) and just say 'fuck it'. In that one moment, he is the most powerful being in all realities forever. A feat as meaningless as it is infinitely significant.
Also, it's pretty fucking badass, y'all.
So I guess it would be "the mind" of The Nameless One.
I thought it was about some pre-endgame weapon like that witch's claw, but then I spoiled myself. Not reaplying this anytime soon, but still, I didn't even know that was an available option since i put my points mostly in Wisdom, INT and STR. Awesome!
The lancer in Gears of War. I remember using it for the first time when I first played multiplayer (I was younger) and it felt deadly and terrifying...but awesome at the same time.
Also i'll see the tripple barreled shotgun from Resident Evil 5. Damn that shotgun.
Glad to see Unreal Tournament's Flak Cannon getting some love. Damn, that thing was beast.
My favourite combo for bosses in Bayonetta was Onyx Roses in the hands with Lt. Col. Kilgore on the legs. The first time I Pure Platinum'd a boss with that combo (Fortitudo), I knew I'd hit on something epic.
Cluckeye was the best weapon my DH had in Diablo 3 for a long time. No-damage runs on Azmodan and it fires chickens?!
Also have to give a shoutout to one of the most beautiful weapons ever; the ring laser from R-Type.
