What would you change for Mass Effect 3?

Add more RPG elements? I liked it back when I had a different look every couple of hours, I like the armor customization in ME2 but it eventually became arbitrary as the suits only really varied in color.

I love both the Mass Effect games and I don't think I would change all that much. I'd love to have more conversations with my team mates and more characterisation. I'd love to see some of my original team mates come back and have bigger roles. I was a little disappointed at how no one from the first game did much in the second except Liara, in a DLC.

But overall, more of the same please! I really can't wait for Mass Effect 3.

I'd like to see far more choice in the leveling system. ME1 felt too slow in progression, ME2 had a good progression very limited choice and variety. Something as small as giving every power 2 or 3 variations would go a long way. In other words, take something like Grunts Rank 4 Fortification Power that could be made into Improved or Heavy versions. Apply this branching to literally every rank and power to create unique builds for each class.

Greater control of how your allies use their abilities and act in combat via scripts.

Relationship rewards that go beyond just sleeping with the person as the final stage. Introduce relationships among your party members that develop over the game if you keep them together. Example: If you kept Miranda and Jacob in your party, they may develop a relationship over the course of the game. As Sheppard you could interfere with this, help develop it or just let it run its course.

Lastly it would be interesting to play in a world that evolves while you play rather than just reacts to your presence regardless of when you show up. This would have to apply to side quests more than the main story. Have time sensitive side quests with real meaning and possible party members at stake...failing to address these in time will mean that it is too late, and whatever outcome would occur without your interference happens.

It's completely petty of me to say so, but I'd love less loading screens. Am I the only one who kinda liked the elevator?

...Anyone?

*Crickets*
I did. I don't know who would prefer loading screens over the elevator, actually.
I do. Perhaps it's me, but elevator rides last a lot longer than loading screens. Sure, there are news reports at times but they only last a few seconds. Plus, you're completely incapacitated once you use the elevator. You're stagnant! What if the elevator breaks down!? What if the guards are on a coffee break!?

I'm fine with thermal clips, but it would make sense to also have the weapons cool down over time like in ME1, so basically have it like ME2 but with regenerating ammo.

More variety with the armor and weapons, two of each weapon type was kinda limiting in ME2, and there weren't enough armor pieces to play around with.

I'm not against bringing back the mako, but at least make it handle like a 20-ton space-car should.

Also, I liked that in ME2 you were able to see what male quarians looked like, so let me see what the females of the other races look like.

And finally, more differences in the classes. I liked that in ME2 each class had it's own special class specific skill, it made playing through the game six times worth it just to play around with each one. Maybe give each class it's own unique skills, instead of just one unique ability for each class and then a few that are shared between some classes. Also bring back armor classes, maybe make certain armor pieces only available to certain classes (let soldiers use the best damage reducing armors, adepts get the best biotic improving armors, etc)

Stability. Mass Effect has always had inexplicable slowdown and random crashes on my machine. I never have been able to finish it. If I don't hear ME3 is rock solid stable I won't bother.

More hovertank, Normandy dogfights, more alien gender diversity, also... I wanna see a quarian without their suit dammit!!! Also, less black and white moral choices would be nice.

Was it just my copy of the game, or was there a glitch where overheating just wouldn't cool down? I agree about the variety of weapons. In Mass Effect 1 there was a wide array of firearms, however, they were all similar in all but brand name and appearance. Wasn't exactly fixed in ME2 where they swept the problem under the rug. I don't think anyone will have any disagreements about the Mako.

I really don't want to see the faces of the Quarians. For me, their masks were their faces. Removing it will demolish the illusion. Although I don't see a way out of it.

It was like maneuvering a kite in a garden with a remote control. The controls for the Hammerhead was much better though, so just stick with that, I think. I am indifferent about the classes, I hate classes. Whenever I get through a half of the game with, say the 'Adept' class I get bored and want to try the 'Vanguard'.

I personally would like to see females of several alien species. There were no female Turians, Krogans, Salarians, Volus.. etc.

Somewhere where Shepard's like:

"Fuck it, this place is the worst goddamn store on the Citadel."

I will cry tears of joy.

here is my list

-thermal clip/ overheat combo system (your gun overheats and takes a while to cool down but you can replace a clip to instantly cool it but it takes time, time you arent able to shoot)

-female aliens in the game

-bring back the mako

-bring back grenades

-bring back weapon/ armor mods (possibly weapon/ armor customization)

-helmet toggle on/ off with no buffs or penalties attached to them

-more weapons (IE 10 different shotguns that do different damage as well as different effects)

-a deeper leveling system that lies somewhere between the system in ME1 and ME2

-no planet scanning

-more side missions (ones recieved from NPCs in the game and require you to go to planets and systems that arent tide into the main story missions- again a mix between ME1 and ME2)

-allow characters to use every weapon but their skill buffs a specific one/ two

-not a removal of the morality system but a tweeking of it (a player can be good or bad but also be greedy/ a smuggler/ a pirate/ an isolationist/ or something else)

-ability to call in support from your ship when in an open environment (when fighting a thresher maw out in the open call for your ship to shoot it)

-add an arena (having PvP, Team vs Team, PvE, horde mode varient...) and co-op (i just dont see why i cant "hire mercenaries" to help me in the single player, the game seems build around a system that would naturally support co-op)

-*optional* after beating the game allow the player to create a custom class for single player (but remove the option to earn achievements with them)

i just think the game is moving more towards being a shooter than it is an RPG. ME1 felt like an RPG with shooter elements while ME2 felt like a shooter with RPG elements. i want my RPG shooter back, not another shooter RPG

Here is my long and possibly 'Not gonna happen' BS list of things that maybe some other people wanna see, but most likely never will.

*Clears Throat...Ahem*

~No more minerals (I'm tired of spending time searching dead planets for useless material to upgrade weapons and equipment)

~No more upgrades (Useless mineral collecting to upgrade equipment for no real benefit for those who prefer to just dish out death without them)

~Varied Genders (Lets see females of the various races)

~Varied Ages (I wanna see Turian kids, Asari Kids, Krogan Kids, Drell Kids, and EVERY age group of EVERY race. Cause I'm sure the Universe isn't filled 100% with adults standing around)

~Living World (Would it hurt to have some people walking around? Or even events or actions happening more often? I'd like to at least break up a argument or deal with a pickpocket instead of walking around in a stationary world for 30+ minutes)

~Less Scripted Battles (When I can walk in a room and position my entire team in the perfect spots to end the fight in under 1 minute because I've fought the battle before...something is wrong. I'd like to see maybe some random instances in the game, some bandits just deciding to attack as you enter the cargo bay, or a violent fight goin down between soldiers and bandits as I enter the marketplace. It gets boring KNOWING exactly when fighting is going to go down, and that 99% of the time no fights will happen unless in a mission)

~Less 100% Combat Missions (If I'm a Paragon and I like to talk my way out of conflict, LET ME. It gets redundant to simply walk into a area and gun down EVERYONE with no discretion untill a cutscene appears. Maybe give the option to force people to surrender or flee through dialogue or sneaking up on them suddenly. Maybe some Diplomatic missions? Ones where you get to use your wit or correct dialogue choices to avoid conflict or open up new missions or events?)

~Wounded/Surrendering Enemies (If I shoot someone in the gun hand, or drop them to their knees, give me the chance to be Paragon and let them surrender or end the fighting because they can't fight back. Or give me Renegade options to kill a unarmed or fleeing enemy)

~Moral (If I'm under heavy fire and I'm running low on ammo, maybe my teammates should be panicking and getting negative bonuses such as accuracy or health penalties. And when I start to crush a assault squad or take down a huge mech, then my Team should be getting some buffs to health or accuracy)

~Better Cover System (The sticky and sometimes useless AI makes taking cover difficult. I'd like to be able to have my teammates take cover in more advantageous positions instead of hiding behind the most exposed crate their standing next to. Maybe also add some more flare to Sprinting to cover, maybe be able to vault over certain cover while sprinting? Or more stylish slides?)

~More Skill Variety/Cool Stuff (Biotics throw stuff, Techs hack stuff, Soldiers shoot stuff, but where are my abilities to perform a execution move or a stylish attack that kills a enemy in slo-mo. Add some skills that are even just visual and serve no advantage, maybe a 360 Spin where you spray gunfire in slo-mo, or a move where you vault over your current cover and are able to slo-mo shoot during mid vault? Plus many people would prolly like to see more Abilities for the Soldier aside from 'Concussion, or 'Temp/Useless Slo-Mo', maybe toss in a fragmentation grenade or a smoke grenade. Even a simple explosive round wouldn't hurt)

~Less Loading (I don't want to have to wait 5 minutes just so I can talk to my Teammate on the Crew Quarters because I'm on the bridge. Maybe have ALL teammates and necessary crew in a single area, or atleast have some sort of way to communicate over long distance so I don't need to travel there in person between loading screens)

~Less Bitching (My crew does nothing but complain or brush me off unless I do a 40 minute mission to gain their loyalty after spending 80min recruiting their arse. Maybe some more appreciation or the ability to gain loyalty without long boring missions for all 8 or so people)

-Ability to let the heat sink cool down, or eject it once it overheats, but only a limited supply of spare thermal clips, so you'd still have to conserve ammo a bit.

-Ability to toggle helmets on or off mid mission. A setting to auto-toggle off helmets during cutscenes and conversations.

-Female aliens

-Remove the fuel system and having to control that little Normandy across the galaxy to navigate through solar systems and star clusters. It was so much easier in Mass Effect 1 where you could just choose this cluster, this solar system and this planet rather than, fly here, go through long loading screen, buy fuel, go to 1 solar system, scan planets, go back to first solar system to buy more fuel, go to 2nd solar system, go back and buy fuel, etc. Having that little ship go from system to system just took way too long to search for resources and anomalies. I am not even sure if I did all the N7 mission because it was so boring and time consuming.

-Bring back ammo and armor upgrades. And make those upgrades available in an inventory system. It makes sense to carry around brinks of different ammo or small ammo mods, it doesn't make sense to carry an entire armory of different weapons, though.

-Bigger Citadel and larger hub worlds. The ME1 Citadel was huge and inviting, the ME2 Citadel was about the size of one hallway in a mall.

-Make shotguns have decent range again. The power and range of shotguns in ME2 was pitiful at best, especially when compared to the shotguns in ME1.

-Give Vanguards and Infiltrators more biotic and tech powers. In ME1 they had good biotic powers (Throw, Warp, Lift, Barrier) and tech powers (Overload, Sabotage). In ME2 you had shitty biotic powers (Pull and Shockwave?) About as useful as a King Sized Hershey Bar to a diabetic) and tech powers (AI Hacking and Incinerate).

Honestly, I liked the Mako stuff most of the time, other times, the mountains of the planet just made it horrible tedious- but after the Overlord DLC in ME2 with the Hammerhead sort of 'overworld' I would love for that to be the new template to bring back more exploration into scanning planets and investigating anomalies.

It added so much to immersion and the feeling of passing through space and having little adventures along the way. I felt so rushed when I found an anomaly in ME2 without very much info then was just immediately set down into a defined 'level' with shooting and violence wa-hey.

I like some mystery and clues, finding things out. I liked how in ME1, that even though the galaxy was partially civilized and had all this advanced technology, the majority of the other planets were pretty bland and not full of a whole lot, still mostly empty space. I liked that. Seemed very in tune with the kind of hard sci-fi I love so much.

Back again, and I think with a reasonable complaint.

Why is it Jack can destroy 3 or 4 YMIR mechs, with just her power, yet once I get her, it takes the combined effert of biotic, tech, and firepower to destroy ONE? Infact, better question, why is it powers are useless for the most part until the enemy is down in the red bar? If Jack is some Uber biotic, she should be able to create a shockwave that sends YMIR's flying every fucking which way. Im pissed that I played as an adept to use Singularity, only for it to be useless, as I had to get enemies into the red before it would work, and in most cases, I could kill them with something like one shot after getting them into the red. A fucking black hole should destroy every ************ near it, regardless of Shield, Barrier, or fucking Armor. If the Adept only gets a fucking SMG and Pistol, than his/her powers should be fucking unstoppable.

Also, Bring back the elevators. The loading scenes are just as long, if not longer, and are three times as dull and boring.

bring back mako exploration but for the love of god increase the rate of shield regen. Also, put more than 3 points of interest in the 4 square miles per planet we get to explore plz.

Get rid of all the goddamn humanoid aliens.

And where's my science? If it's science fiction, I want real science to back the fiction!

I actually had a bunch of thoughtful comments about what might improve the gameplay, or what I would like to see happen in the story, but my inner fangirl is currently screaming, "I WANT THE ASARI BARTENDER AS A SQUADMATE!!! SHE'S SO COOL!" so that's all I'd ask for, really.
