Why would you need proof for all that? I agree that you'll need to like what he has to say and all. But why would he need to proof the mostly catholic myth (wether that was based on what Jesus preached or not). Is all of that so important? The rest I agree with you though, rather burn in hell then follow something that I don't believe to be good. If Jesus really is/was the son of God and was/is on good terms with him, then Jesus would have a lot of explain to do (at gun point) before I would follow him.
