Freshmen year, I was sitting in religion class not really paying attention, but I noticed that we suddenly got out topic. I'm pretty sure I'm about to /thread this, but this was an argument that was presented towards me that god existed(I was pretty open about my atheism and some people, such as this person, took offence to it and tried to convert me, without success). I'm not singling out religious groups here, as I'm pretty sure that even the most fundamental religious types will facepalm at this. Anyways, here it is:

The reason the sky is blue is because there was once water in a shell around the Earth, but a hole was formed- which we now think is the ozone layer- and as a result, the earth flooded, and that caused Noah's flood. But the water has been evaporating and returning up and reforming the shell so that's why the world isn't flooded anymore. And because water is blue, and we can see it in the sky, that's why the sky is blue. But nothing could have created that hole except for a God, so therefore god exists.

That was the gist of it but it was several years ago, so I can't remember the exact words and logic he used- it's probably a repressed memory due to the pain that it caused to my brain- but that night I cried for the future of humanity. The same guy presented me with other stuff that was almost as bad, but nothing that sticks out like this did.

I already said he's entirely within his right to his opinion, and I'm entirely within my right to say it's wrong. And I wasn't going "your belief is stupid because I don't like it", I said it because he was being a hypocrite and contradicting his own statement. No scientific evidence to support not letting gays adopt=saying gays shouldn't adopt being scientifically inaccurate. He said he found anything scientifically inaccurate to be stupid, and then said gays shouldn't adopt. This logic is very simple.

most reasons for disliking homosexuality seem to be religiously based. I mean whats wrong with it? can you expect all gays to turn hetero? people have tried that, Im not so sure it works. There is debate where gayness comes from...but from what I can see it is what it is, not somthing you can really prevent

as for the adopting children thing..I dont know, if I were in such a position my only concern about allowing gay coupples to have children would be the predjudice of OTHERS, not their ability to raise a child

Anyway, I refer to heterosexuality as 'ethical' because that is how a male human being was supposed to be, although I can still tolerate gay people. I don't think they should adopt children because of the way they could (COULD, but not necessarily WILL) grow up being raised by a family with 2 dads (or 2 moms or 2 intermediates).
