What's the game that scared you the most?

Clive Barker's Undying is pretty easily the most frightening game as a whole, especially the early on. It had ambiance, imaginative and disturbing set pieces and had way too much fun with mirrors. Remember kids: Mirrors are more fun that television! :D

The Ocean House is hands down the scariest sequence ever put in a video game, don't even try to argue. It was, however, just one scene out of a twenty plus hour game.

The ALIENS mod for DOOM scared the bejesus outta me! The sound of the motion tracker... trying to peek around the corner of of my monitor... aliens shieking as they came out of the walls...cringing as I write about it!

My friend Devynn and I play mostly scary games, so this is easy for me. =]

Haunting Ground (Dementium)- Easily the scariest I've played. It's mostly puzzles, but throughout the game your constantly chased by a free-roaming NPC. You have no weapons; your only attacks are a kick or a dog that follows you. You're running through corridors, hiding under benches and beds (holding your breath if they find you or not), and all the while being followed by someone who can only be described as "Batshit Crazy." I've found myself screaming at the t.v. too many times to possibly count. Once, I was so caught up in fleeing for my life, I ate 1/6 a fake cigarette. Scary situations.

Silent Hill series- Dark, eerie enviroment + freaky monsters + weird-ass plot = creepy fun. Scary environment/monsters.

Fatal Frame series (mostly 2)- Dude, you fight ghosts that pop outta wells, walls, boxes, the floor, EVERYWHERE. WITH A CAMERA! Scary suprises/fighting.

When I was younger I was afraid of any FPS game, starting with Spear of Destiny. Not being used to the limited perspective and enemy placement often freaked me out. Not to mention shooting once and hearing numerous soldiers yell alarm.

Rather odd looking back, because now FPS is my most commonly played type of game :/

F.E.A.R without a doubt, picture this: you're walking down a hallway who's ceiling is somehow covered in blood which doesn't drip. You're walking towards one of those doors with a window on it. All of a sudden, you see a demon on the other side of it, who floats quickly at the door and blows up, making the door shatter like glass, only on the other side, there's just wall. You turn around only to find Alma (creepy little girl) walking upside-down on the ceiling, only to dissolve into ash.

The scene in KotOR 2 where Kreia confronts the jedi council at Dantooine. Just the way she spoke gave me shivers. "Step away from him! Step away! He brings you truth and you condemn it? The ARROGANCE! As you have come to pass judgment on him, I come to pass judgment on you all."

F.E.A.R. a game where I actually felt relieved by the firefights because that meant Alma wasn't likely to show up.
Too bad that wasn't true in Extraction Point, they managed to work her into several fights, although she defended you for some reason in those. It also sucks that, despite this plot twist, XP SUCKED, just more of the same. Luckily, Project Origin, the original F.E.A.R's sequel (they lost the rights to the F.E.A.R name, but kept everything else) is completely ignoring the two expansion packs.

I guess I don´t get scared easily while playing. But I haven´t played many games that are named here. There are some well-done shock elements in Doom3 and FEAR, also that Call of Cthulhu Game for Xbox was quite disturbing.

well the only game thats made me jump is F.E.A.R but thats probably because they just make something jump out at completely random times like orannis said but alot of the times its predictable and after awhile it becomes not scary at all and i guess Dark messiah might and magic... the island level or whatever going into the caves giant spiders everywhere for some reason i felt like frodo from lotr rotk but instead of fighting one big ass spider i was fighting like 30 of them

Doom, I think it was for the N64. . . .I had to be at least 10 or 12 years old when I got this game. It was actually just a simple rental game that my mother got for me. I was happy because I thought it'd be a really cool shooting game.

But then as soon as I reached the title screen my innocence was shattered by the bloody intro that came after. The game wasn't just scary to me, it was out right terrifying. I couldn't stomach the thought of playing the game. So for the next three days it laid in my console untouched.

finally, a day before it was to be returned I got the balls to play the game. I didn't want to bother starting from the begining though, so I used a saved file that someone else previously left on the game. Well, this was a bad idea, because as soon as I appeared in this new world, I found myself getting attacked by this invisible monster. I was so shocked, that I forgot where the trigger button was and I promptly died. Leaving me, sitting there looking at a bloody screen.

Now I play games like Bioshock and Devil May Cry.

Hahaha, fun times.

Walking around the shotgun room in Bioshock, inspecting the mutilated body of the poor guy stabbed with the surgical scissors and then spotting the shotgun on the ground. As soon as i got it the room went black and about 50 screams went of simultaneously, followed by the slicers who made the screams. You can draw your own conclusions of what happened there. A balls to the wall, pants dampening moment. I think i almost crapped myself after saying "Oh shit.."

Medical Ward in Bioshock and the famous dentist room.

I don't get scared. When I game, I inject myself with pure MAN juice.

...On second thought, that sounds horribly wrong, so I'm just gonna say the first time you fight the regenerators in RE:4. Just hearing them breathe before you can see them...

Creepy.
OMG those were the scariest things I've ever fought. Just hearing the laugh scared me.

Yet Heaven Smiles don't scare me at all.

Yes, and all instances like it.

FEAR also provided the first time I ever actually screamed in a game. It was around the second or third level where your doing some simple platforming on some catwalks and when you turn around to climb down a ladder there's Alma standing right where you were. It was so unexpected I screamed a little. Then promptly turned off my Xbox and didn't try the game for another two days.

Condemned 2 got me at a few points. The mannequin cameo and running from the bear were some good ones.
